hell yes! was just thinking last night how I wish they would do this again.

beatport can eat shit if they think im going to spend money with them. they provide no physical work, no upfront payment to the label, no packaging, no promotion, yet probably take over 50% of the sale. They get 50 pence/cents for doing nothing. i'd prefer to spend �15 to hear an artist play their tracks in a club environment and know the artist is getting their worth from their dj fee. the promoter gets his fee for the risk and hard work of organising the event, and the bouncers get their pay for looking after the door. I remember the days when you got something physical for your hard earned money.

That's 3 free full L.S.G. albums if you don't have them

And just for the record, physical products > all. But there are some things that I want to have, but I don't love. Those are the things that I'll take on digital download for $1 instead of $20 for a vinyl or $15 for the cd single.

i'm going to spend saturday re downloading whatever i lost (for free...another advantage of using beatport) when i got my computer stolen...i guess this comes at the right time to add some missing links to my collection.

These are classic tricks generated by behavioural consuming principles. The price is down to .99 (meaning to 1 rather than 1.50...the zero in the beginning is very tricky in itself since your brain gives more weight to earlier rather than later information leading to the assumption that there must be some huge decrease were there really isn't....) and because you compare the previous 1-something prices price to current 0-something, you think its a huge bargain making you to go buy lots and lots of tracks that you otherwise wouldn't buy and with much less quality control during the process, making beatport to gain a much higher amount of money than it normally should with the 1.50 prices. Bloody human psychology.

It is a bargain for many of us, because many of us buy A LOT of tracks regardless of if they are on sale or not. It has nothing to do with psychology, but more so with economics.

I will be saving a significant amount of money on stuff that i was waiting for to drop off in price. It isn't that they were too expensive, but more because i thought that i would not use them right away so saving money was worthwhile.

I think it is cool that they do this, and hope that they do something similar for Christmas.

How do you apply the $3 discount on AmazonMP3 for an album?

The only option I get on the order page is "Buy Now with one click" and no "add to cart".

So how do I apply the discount? One-click is turned off on my settings.

And many of you will buy much more releases than they would. It all has to do with consumer psychology since humans can become really bad and biased economists (and have nothing to do with economic science). there is lots of literature out there for human economic decision making demonstrating the countless biases and errors one can fall for...and ofcourse this literature informs all those "merchants", managers, commercials etc.


But if you are extremely focused, able to buy only the ones you really wanted/need thats cool. But it rarely happens IMO.

No shit. It's a pretty simple principle: there are things I probably wouldn't pay full price for but would take on the cheap. Although I only bought about five tracks in the last sale and two in this one, because most of the stuff I want on the cheap isn't actually on the fucking cheap at all.

Actually, I've been putting a lot of stuff that I've wanted into my hold bin lately, waiting for them to do this. I bought $20 worth of tracks. Normally that would have cost me $30. I saved myself $10.

I would have bought them eventually, and i did spend more than i had planned to on tunes this week because of the sale, but in the long run i still save because i would have purchased them at full price eventually anyways.

I only bought 2 tracks that weren't in the hold bin.
