-- Stereo's new "concept" Saturdays - Love it or Hate it ?
Pages (4): « 1 2 [3] 4 »
The funny thing was that some of my friends went to Parking to listen to Angel and then decided to head over to Stereo only to dish out more money to listen to more of the same.
I'm so happy I started a new concept this year... I don't go to massives (ex: Bal en Blanc) or afterhours (ex: Stereo) without knowing who the DJs are.

You guys have a good sound system, we get it, okkkkk but what people care more for is the music and quality of Djs that get booked every week. I am not going to name and compare clubs and list the DJs that were booked last year but with this policy u r disrespecting people by telling them music doesnt matter it is all about Stereo. |

i like the new club, but i think we can all agree that the sound system leaves a lot to be desired compared to before. I really hope they fix this, as this club has all of the tools to be great.
Friday i was in physical pain almost from the low end, and for the first time ever after a stereo night, my ears were ringing the next day. It is not as clear as it used to be
The bass lacks that thump in your chest effect, and when it's cranked, the mids force my fingers to my ears. A bit of muffle the next couple days too. Stereo in its heyday would've never let this happen, although the last year or two before the fire, it was at an all time low.
I guess what I'm saying is it's much better than it was, but it has room for improvement. I saw someone post that Angel was going to be let loose on the system, but who knows how much truth there is to that. His take on the sound was always my favorite, when I first started going. And that was before Morales threw his wallet into the equation.

nothing wrong with giving your opinion, you just seem a little biased... i've been before, I had a great time, I just don't know why they can't give us a headsup when they bring in big talent... personally id skip a night like waxman and angel, you can see these guys around town for free... however id love to know when vibe/dformation/victor/etc are on the bill!
They probably book them, you just can't know before they show the name on the screens, trust me,nobody will tell you inside, doorman,no one. It's on their tickets too. You can probably see if they're playing close of montreal and you have a chance.

im not talking shit about stereo, i loved it when i went for tiga, just saying they should get rid of this stupid concept... but they wont and I know that so that's fine!
People wanted the Stereo return since a year and half whatever, after they complained of the policy without going see the club once. Also, don't want to pay, beeing on the guestlist. So you think owners wants you? no,they want people who have money to spend and people who wants to have fun. People complaining, go once a friday, after you'll see if you want to spend 35$ saturdays without to know who's playing.

I need to share my opinion on this
guys, it's not YOUR stereo... it's a club owned by people who want to make a profit. And from what I saw the 2-3 times I have been there so far is that there is a much needed new crowd... that just wants to have a good time...regardless of who the DJ is.
It almost feels as if now that many of the old stereoheads do not go there anymore it's easier for newbies to appreciate the club. Maybe Im wrong but thats what it feels like, thats the impression I got from looking at all these new and younger-looking people having fun
Business-wise, I think the new concept is a great strategy. Lets be honest, the concept of booking the same 5-6 tribal DJs, letting everyone in for free, and losing money on any other night hasn't been very successful for the past 10 years.
So I think this is a clear message to the nostalgic Stereoheads complaining about the new concept :
Stereo is no longer targeting you!

paskal, welcome to the proud grecian formula user foundation
The owners were smart to plan for the fact that many (most) of the first generation of Stereo heads wouldn't be coming out anymore, and adjusted their business model accordingly. They are using their position to try to correct what they see as a culture that is being led down the wrong path. I applaud that. My personal position stands, but I really respect the risk they are taking to do some good in this scene.

would a calderone night get promo under these new rules?
nope. He was there for Halloween (a Sat) and no promo. Several friends were pissed as they would have gone out with us had they known it was Vic.
sucks man
maybe theyre just cutting costs for promotion after the fire and all haha, though promo prolly isint that expensive beyond getting a flyer drawn up and printed, dunno
It's not because of the price of the flyers because they're still making them. However, they always state the same "concept" crap for saturdays and they vary the colour of the font from week to week.
so neone know whos there this sat
?
