WHAT THE FUCK?!

The nutbags that do that need to have their heads examined. There has gotta be some frontal lobe missing. Self lobotomy performed at some point?

I have seriously considered transferring to a warmer country, but the Canadian government wont help me pay for schooling anymore by way of loans. So I am stuck here until I get my honours and then I am bouncing.

What are you talking about, woman, higher education here is free!

Well... you do need to learn Portuguese, take an entrance test, and only the best universities are public (i.e. free). You can always get a job teaching English to pay your bills and you're all set

Even for us foreign people?!

Are you sure?

I'm quite sure the paperwork is probably the worst part. If you're really interested, look for exchange programmes between our universities (if there are any) and/or ask for information at the Brazilian consulate in Toronto (that's where you used to live, right?).

The foreigners I know from university don't really have to pay for their education here, as far as I know.

Posted by Dervish on Dec-15-2009 23:58:

It's kinda like in Scotland, uni is free, and is free to everyone else from the EU... unless you're from England (where they have to pay).

Posted by Lira on Dec-16-2009 00:04:

Wait, you just reminded me of something, Derv. I remember I once worked with this Peruvian guy that passed the entrance exam in his fifth try or so, his documents were okay, so they let him in.

I'm almost sure Brazil has no special educational agreements with Peru.

I have considered doing an exchange, but my boyfriend is a teacher and has a contract with the school board here. We don't really wanna fuck that up and we don't want to do a long distance thing either. I might just have to wait

I used to live near Toronto... maybe a couple hour drive away. I now live a 4 and half hour flight away.
