Fair and Balanced

Why do people pick on Fox? Because it tries to portray itself as the most fair network of them all but it gives out the most distorted message of all of them. I cant be bothered to search for the polls now (been awake for about 40 hours by now, perhaps tomorrow if i manage to get some sleep) but ive seen them, done by nonpartisan groups that show that people that get their "news" from fox news have the most warped view of the situation in america and abroad.

Another reason is that its a safe heaven and breeding ground for political hate speech and outright lies. FEMA death camps, the birther movement, obama is going to kill grandma...damn nonsense all of it but who kept it alive, feeding it to its viewers?

And the blatant affiliation with the conservatives doesnt help the network at all. Not only sponsoring but being the driving force behind for example the 9/12 rally which was Becks baby but was actively promoted and reported on by the entire network, and speaking of reporting on that, the amount of poeple in attendance when reported by fox was ten times the number reported by other networks and official estimates. Compensating much?

Because fox is unique and special within the contexts of exceptionally shit journalism. If you think they are comparable to the other networks, you�re a blind partisan fool. That�s not to say the other networks are perfect or beyond reproach of course (except you PBS, we love you!), but fox is qualitatively and quantitatively worse than anything else currently available on television outside china or iran.

Your boy Ed Schultz at MSNBC said yesterday that he thinks the Democrats should lie and cheat as much as they can to win the Senate election in Massachusetts... on national TV. Is that your definition of fair and balanced?

Gee, I guess I you do a terrible fucking job of reading this thread, don't you? I've pointed out multiple times that all news networks are slanted and distort portions, be it large or small, of what they air. I am by no means trying to defend one set of networks over another. Hell, I don't have TV, so I can't possibly take one side over the other in this situation.

It may be hard to listen but you should anyway, since the sad state of affairs seems to be that people from around the world know more about the american media and the issues at hand than americans themselves.


And saying again. MSNBC doesnt put on a big "Fair and Balanced" slogan. Fox does, and then still distorts the facts to push the republican/conser ative agenda and claims that it doesnt put a spin to its tories at all.



Also claiming that Olbermann is as bad as O'Riley, back or any of the other pudits on fox is ridiculous. While keith isnt without his faults, if he puts out a mistake he will usually correct it, he isnt rude with people he interviews and who dont agree with him and doesnt cut off the interview if he notices that its not going in his favour, nor is he as paranoid as Beck who sees fema camps and obama socialist death squads on every corner.
