oh i would have to say that dumonde is sucking now. god music is like the worst piece of shit i have ever heard. i did like there remix of reincarnations by morley but all their other recent jobs are pretty crappy. in my memory by tiesto kicks ass but its the remixes that make it good. i would have to agree that most of tiestos newest productions suck, but he does have great taste in music and does spin quite an entertaining set. i dont really have a point i just wanted to ramble.

DuMonde TrAnCeR, long ago this isnt about Tiesto anymore, is about your aggressivity, why cant you be a gentleman and reply without insults?

Although not my favorite DJ by any means, I must say that Ferry is one of the most innovative producers out there. His beat structures and sampling constantly shift. My only complaint is that he generally sticks to melodic/uplifting. I really wonder what he could produce if he ever went progrssive. While I adore PvD's tracks, he is by no means the most innovate. I just love his unique sound.

And I don't want to dip into the Tiesto argument too much, but DuMonde TrAnCeR seems to fend off opponents by claiming they are brainwashed by Tiesto's popularity. I really must say this isn't the case, and my experience with Tiesto's work is a perfect example. For a year or two I lost faith in his skills and refrained from listening to his sets or tracks. I've never been a blindly devoted fan of his. I judge by quality. But In My Memory and his recent progressive livesets have blown me away. He is not only a talented producer, but fantastic artist on the decks. I'm slated to become a worshipper if he keeps this up any longer.

I would have to say push, just because they don't have those screamin lead sounds that are normally associated with trance but the music is still trance, not that progressive stuff...listen to strange world & till we meet again and u see what I'm sayin....Tiesto in my opinion is god of vocal trance...delerium - silence (tiesto mix) nuff said...

Posted by TranceGiant on Jul-21-2002 02:11:

Moshic and Zidan are pretty hot right now.
And id also have to go with tiesto. Magik journey being one of the most underrated trax ever, lethal industry sux but obsession and his already mentioned earlier trax are masterpieces (why just judge ppl on account of their current productions..)

Oh and i guess ill have to had sasha after listening to airdrawndagger

Well said, even though Holden is more prog than trance. I love EVERYTHING I hear by him, how good is I Have Put Out The Light and Kaern?!

as far as innovative, I don't know...I would say PUSH aka M.I.K.E, but it's not as if he really comes up with totally different sounds. He's got that special style, he sticks to it. No doubt, it's VERY GOOD! Chicane is in that category as well.

So I suppose, even though I don't like where he went with some of his tracks, I'll go with Tiesto. He's been at it for ages, and listening to Majik 1 (stinky poo!) and then In My Memory, he's come a long way. When Flight 643 came out, a lot were dissapointed, since it was so different, with that new tech/prog edge. But then it grew, that was a leap for him, and he is still trying out new styles.

cheers
Ilina

This thread is superlong and I wanted to write something now as its kinda late, so I'll just jump into it.
1.BT
By all accounts the man is a musical genius. Doesn't always produce trance, especially lately, but if you really listen to the structuring of songs like godspeed and flaming june the ingenuity is pretty amazing. And Sunblind has AWESOME edits in the builds that give the song so much energy. We'll have to see what he comes up with for his new album this winter.
2.Michael Thomas "Blackwatch"
I guess he really isn't a trance producer, but he has a great ear for making prog powerful and not boring. James Holden also kinda goes in this catagory. Both Northsky and Timeflies I think are badass tracks. Also Holden's remix of Electrique Boutique - Revelation is really cool.
3.Deepsky
Stargazer, View from a Stairway, Remixes of Carl Cox - Phuture 2000, Kaistar, Omar Santana etc. The second you hear one of their songs you know it, which for me is a pretty good sign of skill.
4. Way Out West
I guess there a question about whether this is really "trance"(debatable), but the fact is PvD, Tiesto and a lot of other "trance" DJ's play their stuff, so I'm throwing them in. Always different sounding and sick vocals. And if we are talking about nick warren I guess I could bring up Breeder, who have made some badass tracks(The Chain, Twilo Thunder, remixes of Orbital - Nothing Left, lots of other sick tracks.) Not technically current, but still sounds very different and cool.
I like Ferry and Tiesto, but I don't know if there is the same kind of originality that some of these artists, at least in my mind, have. But, they are very skilled producers who can make songs that people have a great time listening to, which is what countsIMHOAlso goes for PvD and Armin.

what are you talking about?! stop trying make me look like a bad guy all the time

Posted by TimeportE on Jul-21-2002 11:06:

i saw a couple of producers i forgot!

WOW = i've heard a couple of there traxx and most of them (with exception their remix of urban train ) are top quality.
G&D = now this couple certainly is one of the best producers/remixers of the year!! every time they come up with an other great tune quite different from the last!! great work..

and now for push, mmm. i know this is just an alias but still i get a strange feeling everytime i hear an push remix! a feeling like: i've heard this before, the sound is unique but sometimes loses it's touch (push's back to cali remix was bad imo!! )

erm.. I never heard anything progressive or techno form him.. which aliases does he use for it? only heard Push, M.I.K.E., Plastic Boy, Solar Factor and Exposure so far.. and they all sound in the very same style. So I wouldn't say he's very innovative although he's brilliant.

Posted by MYSTERO on Jul-21-2002 18:04:

tiesto, because of his different sounds & styles in his singles and production. Both are made on a high-level.

calling the freak (check suck my soul) is also an alias from him and it's quite a hardsound, not hardstyle but tech-trance!

he uses far more aliases then most of us know!!

yup but i think its onyl coz i attacked tiesto in 3 threads in one day. otherwise i cant remember the last time i talked bad about tiesto, just so happened it all came at once on one day

if i see there i point i can make, and it isnt jsut directly flaming, ill make it regardless of wether anyone (or quite a lot of people) will be offended by it. its not like i come in the threads and go "tiesto sucks coz i say so dumonde are the best. better than everything lalala" now is it?

Mike's been named like this ever since he was a producer and that's why he decided to make it his official name.
Eeerrrrmm.. should we call him Mr. Mike now...

Well, M.I.K.E. has a lot of aliases... many are uplifting Bonzai trance like Push, Plastic Boy, etc., but many are different.

Calling "The Freak" is very hard and leaning towards techno.
Tribal Warriors is proggie tribal trance, as the name would suggest.
The Blackmaster is darker, building progressive trance.
Some M.I.K.E. releases such as Future Platform One and Two are also dark prog stuff.

Hope that gives you an idea of what Dierickx has done in the past.
