Hmmm. That would have to be:

Cinnamon

Rosemary

and

Allspice

I also love garlic and put way too much in everything.

Fresh garlic, roasted garlic, and garlic flakes are best.

it did say "spices of choice". it didn't say hot burning lava spices of choice. and stefan did say he is a spice fiend. so i thought he liked all spices. are you discriminating against spices of the world?

the thread is called "spicy friends - unite!!". when someone says "damn this food is really spicy!" they mean it is hot, not full of cloves.

it could mean both. spicy hot and spicy flavorful.

anyways, for hot sauce, i like these two:



and



both of these sauces are good because they actually have flavor and not just burn your face off hotness. IMO, it is a waste for hot sauce if it burns out your taste buds, you want it to enhance the flavor of food, not maime your tongue.

Also, piri piri sauce is to die for. Those Portuguese peeps sure do know what goes good with some chicken. YUM!!!

spices as in anything to add a "lil kick and extra flavour" to your dish!

well, they are the same brand. the jar has the seeds and pulp in it and the bottle does not. the jar one seems to have a better aroma probably because it has seeds and pulp.

oh ya i should've caught that, the one is just the oil and the other has the chili seeds!!! its the seeds which make the difference for me!

oh ya. i also have a bottle of koon yick in my fridge which i forgot to include in the pic. its the best chinese-made chile sauce imo.

LOVE spicy food! Harbourfront puts on a hot and spicy food festival, went last year. They have all sorts of different foods that use different spices and sauces and lots of testings. Definitely something different and fun to do in the summer.

You and I are very similar. I also like oregano and nutmeg. Garlic is the absolute best though.

Funny this thread is bumped today - i just got my assed kicked by a habanero pepper that I thought I could eat in my salad....let's just say it didn't end well!! Fuck I gotta build a better immunity to them. Baby steps! I tried to tackle the whole thing but I should just start off with little bits first then move to a whole one...

As for the spicy food festival - it's bunk! I was pretty disappointed last year and won't be going this year. It's just booths set up with their spices and hot sauces but I was looking forward to eating various spicy DISHES from around the world

And garlic....oh shit don't even get me started!! I put at least 4-5 cloves into anything I eat. Garlic burps ftw

Were you able to taste things? or was it just sauces/spices for sale?

I've switched over the Jamican hot sauce now, the chinese hot sauce is tasting like ketchup now.

You're trying the wrong ones then it's all about the spicy chili oils or just oils notthe ketchupy sauces!

The food at the festival isn't spicy or spice oriented IMO. U can try the spices, they give u a pretzel or cracker to taste.

I haven't tried this, but I tried the regular spicy ketchup. I don't really like spicy hot, but I remember when it first came out Ian and I were eating fries of something and I said "Ian did you buy the spicy ketchup, my mouth is getting warm!" And he's like "No, I just bought the regular one." 10 minutes later my mouth is burning and I looked at the ketchup, and sure enough he bought it by accident! lol

I've been having the spicy chilli oil all my life, I have no reaction to it anymore.
