-- Asteroid + Earth = bad

All this talk about an astriod hitting the earth is just plain crazy. I suppose next you'll be trying to convince me that the earth is round. Common on, I wasn't born yesterday!
actually when I think of it, the big dent planet x would have caused could easily be hiding under the middle of the ocean.
Btw, I doubt that the moon is actually a chunk of earth broken off. For one thing, its too round. I dont think an asteroid or planet x could knock off such a perfectly round chunk. Plus planets like jupiter and saturn have moons just like ours, and theyre gas planets. That means no rock/soil to break away and make a moon
I didn't say moons are always created that way. Some moons were created in the same time as the planets (sum heavier chunks in the rotating gas) and there's also evidence that some were just passing by and caught in the gravity pull (iio if i'm not mistaken is orbiting its gas giant in the wrong direction!).
But all the observed moons are considerably smaller than their mother planet, with one exception - luna.
Hey about the roundness - you've got me. But i'm sure they have an explanation for that too (maybe heat and gravity and stuff)
