ATB played "Deep Dish - Say Hello" on Saturday. I also saw AVB drop Flashdance also by deep dish a few years ago at the Armin only party.

I am sure there are more examples, but that's all I can think of right now.

Yes classics are awesome but who actually plays them? Not even Trance DJs play many classics live.

Tiesto isn't even Trance anymore. He plays "his" classics because he is expected to. And that is the 2010 rework of For An Angel which isn't considered a classic.

Trance DJs play classics live all the time. Especially in longer club sets. LA suffers from having mostly two hour sets with trance DJs, so you prob don't notice/hear it as much. In the longer sets (like 4 hours), if they are gonna throw in classics it's done in the last hour more than anything and when the DJ is having fun. Unless there's a purpose for the night. Like an album release tour. Those sets are usually more focused. And the older tracks can just sound of place if thrown in the set.

Markus played a set in London with a alot of classics in May. It was his GDJB world tour in may. go download it!

this is true but you're not going to hear sets full of them. most DJs play newer stuff or at least 2006+ tracks. but some will define classics as something different. Take "On A Metropolis Day" for example. that's going to be a classic someday because of the demand for it.

But I think we should get back to the original topic of this post.

House is not > Trance and vice versa. To each is their own and let the scene p(l)ay on.

Wow, I was way off. It was his July one. And I must've been drunk or somethign when I listened to it becuase looking at the tracklist, it's not really filled with many classics. He did play his recon of Yilmaz Altanhan - Eighties, though. Was one of my favorite tracks of 2005!

amen to that.

Posted by Tosh on Aug-25-2010 00:24:

the videos posted sound like disco music almost....
Like a more updated version of 60-80s music
I listen to Gareth Emery podcast and i guess he starts with house every time, like that other thread you posted, he opened with that and it works for me. I like the harder stuff, i'm just not a funky type guy i guess. I want my music to move!!!!!! Just like with people who listen to R&B vs Hip-Hop, how fast do you like your music?
For the rest of you, i'll say it again, no need to be dicks and talk down on other peoples music taste

For sure... unless you like gabber!

Posted by Tosh on Aug-25-2010 00:46:

Does Pryda count as house?
His stuff is good under most of his aliases
Or 16 Bit Lolitas (Murder Weapon for example)

My fav trance track ever is
(not the "best", just my fav)

That's because trance classics tend to sound dated and like "old trance"...no one likes old trance. Old house, however, is still badass

And why is the Swedish House Mafia your reference point for house? Those guys are awful

Posted by Nerologic on Aug-25-2010 02:24:

He opened up with a "House" song, a commercial one at that lol

again, why are opinions stated as facts?

Funny that you posted that right after i said how much i love this classic Ferry track.
This track still hits me so hard!!

Ok, this is my favorite trance song of all time (or at the very least one of the top 5), and it's not new by any means:

In the spirit of peace, here's a house song I actually enjoy quite a bit:

If you want to hear the type of house I think gets old after about 20 seconds, I'm talking about crap like this:

Posted by rizo on Aug-25-2010 03:50:

you guys talk about posting recent house music but you go and post old trance

anyway i prefer neotrance/melodic techno and acid trance nowadays. heres some recent stuff from within the year that i enjoy:

and while i dislike most of what lyndsay plays, we both agree that seth troxler plays some awesome house!

Posted by modthispny on Aug-25-2010 03:58:

sander van doorn definitely plays a good mix of house and trance..which is tolerable and quite enjoyable.
