every time someone uses the term IDM it always makes me lol hard.
no one ever seems to want to explain how it is so intelligent, nor how one would want to dance to the vast majority of the stuff from that spectrum. I'm not calling "IDM" bad, i'm just saying that it seems to be a rally point for confused and lonely music nerds.

I've always like his old setup. Looks like a mad scientist torturing music gear to create music for 'ardcore party kids.
Venetian Snares is pretty cool as well.
this thread has taught me sljiva is a shithead.

@sljiva - Interesting, thanks for the info. Especially the bit about me being enydo.

Been a while since I last posted here...
What a great flashback I had when seeing the name of Aphex Twin... I agree with some of the posters as to the whole "IDM" thing, way too snobby for my taste but anyways, can't deny the talent of this guy.
I remember 2 years ago at this after party, we rolled some of the classics and it was just too good to describe. I for one think it's the kinda music you will understand when you're truly and incredibly fucked up.
Autechre
Aphex twin is nice but I got into Autechre more recently and his stuff just seems more complex and fun to listen to
aphex will always have a place in my heart though
my doom was a sick song

Nobody who's heard more than three Aphex Twin tracks could call the guy "uninspired" because he has made an incredible variety of music and most of his tracks sound utterly different to everything else out there. You might think he's over-rated and you might find him boring, but to call him "uninspired" is an absolute joke. Try saying "I don't like him" next time instead of summoning up pompous and unfounded criticisms to sound more valid. |
