end of the vid lol
he claimed on twitter that he djed so much that he doesn't need headphones to mix tracks in, i think that bs because not all tracks just start with a kick (unless he just picks those tracks)

| Originally posted by Nobbie Q Hmmm he could be storing cue points for each track prior to the set? Then he could just go forward in the track to the cue point. But I'm not sure if you can do that with cdjs. So yea it's possible he's doing more work with his sets then we realize. Oh yeah I completely forgot that the newer cdjs have waveform display on the console |
Take One? I just took a two and enjoyed it much more.
And while my bet is on him playing pre-mixed CDs, I remember seeing Supa DJ Dimitry play without headphones back in the mid 90's, and that was all vinyl.

I use to be the biggest SHM fan ever but I as for productions go only axwell has produced tracks that I purchased in the last 2 years or so, dont really like what Angello & Ingrosso have been putting out as of late witch is sad because they were amazing a few years back. They are still in my favorites and I know they put on an amazing show live so its always a good idea to see them
I really enjoyed this documentary, I like how it gave us an inside look into the SHM lives and how serious they are about their work.
where are you guys watching it?

Even without waveforms, if all his music is in a small window of a pitch range (ie. 126-130), and most are his edits, or edits he made so he is well aware of a kick bringing it in, or he made edits for him to play out which are not the same versions you would buy if you grabbed the track from Beatport, you'd know your music very well. Especially if he is playing each and every night.
You can use the EQ display on the mixer to find start points and kicks drums too.
Not saying I can do it for a entire night, or even successfully for an entire mix, but using various methods it is possible. A combination of the BPM on the CDJ, the graphic EQ for the channel and general experience/familiarity with your tracks.
I've heard/read tons of stories from world renowned DJs who have been playing parties SOOOOO loud, that they couldn't hear shit out of their headphones and had to rely on those exact methods I mentioned above to get away with their mixes.
I've seen videos of Carl Cox doing it without headphones using vinyl...
Does anyone know where i can find the english subtitles for this? almost 90% of it is in swedish.
guys, have you ever tried djing without headphones?
it is not very hard.
now if you want to be really creative and actually do something interesting - and as mentioned do it without making mistakes - then headphones are particularly helpful.
anyway if bootlegging coldplay is what counts for good music from these guys, i'll take a pass.
