If she wanted jewelry on V-day, then get her what she wants. Instead, you pull the V-day = consumerism card, which may be true, but is irrelevant in regards to what she wanted. Who cares about what V-day is? Just get her what she wanted. Christmas is also a consumerist holiday. I hope you were consistent in not getting anyone any presents.
