Consider it a sign. The world is coming to an end.

great post, i just had a question about this bit.

wiki tells me that

quote:

The hieroglyph for Sothis features a star and a triangle. Sothis was identified with the great goddess Isis, who formed a part of a trinity with her husband Osiris and their son Horus, while the 70-day period symbolised the passing of Isis and Osiris through the duat (Egyptian underworld).

doesn't the hieroglyph kinda suggest they didn't know there were two stars? my ancient egyptian is a bit rough, but 1 star and a 3 sided shape don't scream 'bi' to me (shutup stu). i get the whole 'trip thru the underworld thing', but i'd like a little bit more to go on if you have more information (yes i did look before asking but i am also lazy).

fucking ****s stealing precious posts from MY 2012 thread! All of you go there, and boost my ego- "yes, i started a worthwhile thread, mmmmm"

anyway, there is 0... in fact, MINUS amounts of proof of 2012, its a fucking science fiction story, same people believing this are the ones who thought the da vinci code was real.

Even fucking Mayan scholars don't believe in this absolute wank.

you have to be a naive, self-centered retard to think that just because in YOUR LIFETIME things have been happening more recently than when you were a child that all of a sudden the world is coming to an end.

the world has existed for what, millions, or billions of years?? but yes, its all going to end really neatly and cleanly next year. makes total sense right??

The most important question still is whether the world will end with a bang or a whimper.

2012 ...starting to look more real that 'what' exactly?

The problem with the majority of the human race is that they're too pin-headed to get even the slightest fundamental grasp of the history of both the planet and human civilisation. Soon as some slightly exotic and interesting topic gets thrown their way with a little 'artistic interpretation' on the subject it appeals to some peoples inquisitive and fearful natures, then they lose all subjectivity.

And this not a "omg look what happened in Japan and the whole world is going to shit" and so on and so forth.

This is a very simple and realistic view...

First we had the massive Chile earthquake last year. Then there was the New Zealand earthquake not long ago. Now Japan. These countries are all around the Pacific Ring of Fire.

The Mayans predicted 2012. The Mayans were based in Central America....Nicaragua, Honduras, Belize,etc...All countries around the ring of fire as well.

I think that the level of activity of these tectonic plates is multiplying very rapidly and could very well result in a calamitous event of unseen proportions sometime at the end of 2012.

If the fact that the Mayan calendar ended in 2012 is at all an indication of the world coming to an end...well the Mayans knew a lot but I don't think they knew how much bigger the world was beyond their geographical concentration. So 2012 could essentially be the end of their world, specific to their geography.

I hope I'm making sense here. I'm sure others have said this too. But I just feel like the tectonic activity in the region is going to keep increasing and something be will happen soon. I guess the hope is that such an event would not affect the entire planet. It probably would though....because flooding and earthquakes in one part of the world could mean disasters entirely different in nature in other parts.

Anyway, discuss, and let me know if I'm simply repeating a thought echoed by many others. I guess basically what I'm saying is that if 2012 predictions are true, it doesn't literally mean end of the world, but something really really bad happening in that geographic region (which happens to be like 1/2 of the world anyway).

You ate a lot of paint as a child, didn't you?

What the fuck did the Mayans know that raises them above the level of other superstitious thousand-year-old civilisations?

Nothing except their calander has and is the most precious calender ever, predicting solar ecplises thousands of years in the future. I think it is only a minute off from the time we use now. Something a long those lines.

Edit: It does not predict catastrophes ! Only the movement of the star and planets according to time which is great in it's own right since they are such an old culture.

I really wish people would translate properly. It does not mean "the end of time" it means "the end of the time". Our calendar resets every 365.25 (roughly) days and the world doesn't end - the Mayan calander is just longer, much longer.

On Dec, 2012 the Earth will cross the galactic equinox, we'll be "below" the midline of the milky way, not above it anymore..but since the Earth exists for an astonishing 4,5 billion years, the Earth survived this 'divine event' more than 150,000 times already without incident.

I am greatly anticipating Dec 2012. There will be so many nutjobs running around panicking. Going to be some great entertainment.. ragardless of the outcome.

On Dec, 2012 the Earth will cross the galactic equator, we'll be "below" the midline of the milky way, not above it anymore..but since the Earth exists for an astonishing 4,5 billion years, the Earth survived this 'divine event' more than 150,000 times already without incident.

What is the deal with the rumor of all the planets being aligned with the sun, if this is true I know it will not cause disaster but is this fact or fiction?

Posted by edubbz on Mar-15-2011 15:56:

nothing happens out of coincidence:
Sept 11th (NY)
Jan 11th (Haiti) and
March 11th (Japan)

Luke 21: 10-11 Then Jesus said to his diciples: "Nations will rise against nations, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven. Jesus says for behold I come quickly. So, as...k yourself "Am I ready?"

It's a real event that happened thousands of times already, maybe just not in your lifetime... Basically the Sun will move to a unique spot in the sky..and hold still for a while, since it is solstice day. The Sun will sit precisely on the crossroads between the Milky Way and the galactic equinox, forming a perfect alignment with the center of the galaxy.

Anyway.. the Maya never predicted anything concrete about 2012. And even if they did, we wouldn't know because when the Spanish ransacked their land, they burnt literally every Maya book they could find. Only a handful of scriptures survived. And in them, there's not a clue about what happens when the Maya calendar ends.
All I know is that the Maya didn't really believe in endings.. their conception of time was circular, with every end being the beginning of something new. So, 2012 shouldn't be an exception.

You're fuckin' kidding right? The whole nations vs. nations and kingdom vs. kingdom thing can describe any point in time from when those words were written to the end of humanity. People were predicting the end of time based on that verse back in the tenth century.

The book of revelation is a little creepy. Something that always bothered me was the part about the 'angel trumpets' signaling the onset of the disasters. Makes me think of this

Revelation is nothing more then a metaphore for the Christian's struggle against the oppression of Rome and a letter to the Christian community of the day to stay resolute. The book is full of code and allusion that would have been very clear to Christians of the first century. The seven headed serpant is Rome, the Beast is Nero (more generally the Emperor), etc... So no need to be feaked out about the first century equivilant to Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul.

Dude how did you...?

Look I'm a lazy guy, I'm just going based on things I caught here and there. I'm not asking anybody to do research, I'm just saying that if you are aware of any sources that prove my theory is nothing but a pile of dog shit, then post them. That's all I'm saying. I'd be absolutely delighted to read them and inform myself further. I'm not showing any resistance.
