Good one Jenn. Always can count on you for hilarious new material.

Count on yourself, you're the one who provides it for me.

NOU DID YOU ACCEPT THAT 80k PAYING JOB IN FLORIDA FOR THAT COMPANY THAT REALLY WANTED YOU TO WORK FOR THEM?
Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-04-2011 00:34:
I'm sure he declined once he realized he'd probably have to use that money to pay his own rent and buy his own groceries and stuff.
Posted by enydo on Aug-04-2011 00:37:
Oh god, what the fuck is this? Nigeria???
Posted by srussell0018 on Aug-04-2011 00:39:
Nou is in favor of heightened taxes because he doesn't pay any.
Posted by enydo on Aug-04-2011 00:40:
I'm pretty sure Nou still lives inside his mother's uterus.
Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-04-2011 00:40:
I heard Nou's mom still changes his diapers.
Posted by enydo on Aug-04-2011 00:41:
I heard Nou's mom still lays his clothes out every morning.
Posted by shaw on Aug-04-2011 00:44:

Nope, turned it down. Wasn't 80k either, was going to be around 70k. Eitherway, I'd rather be poor and destitute than live in Florida.
I did get them very interested in our product though, which is really good because they are the distributor of our main competition.

I shower every other day when I am not exercising daily or I do not have to go out and do something. I sit around in an air conditioned room writing code all day, so I am not really sure what the advantage of showering on days when I am not having to go out anywhere is? Its just a waste of water (though we got water to... uhh waste... up here this summer, unlike some podunk POS states
).

Would you move to Florida for 70k a year? I wouldn't.
Posted by enydo on Aug-04-2011 01:38:
OH TOTALLY TURN IT DOWN BRO. THAT SHIT AIN'T WORTH IT, MY TIME IS FAR MORE VALUABLE.
Posted by Joss Weatherby on Aug-04-2011 01:39:
Actually I know a number of people that they contacted (the community of developers for this platform is pretty close-knit, especially within the US) and everyone of them said that Florida was their deciding factor. One person was from where I live and another person lives in NYC.
Neither of them were willing to move to Florida.
They asked me how I felt about Florida and I said I enjoyed the weather here.

To be fair, the northwest to Florida is a really long move... but 70k is damn good money.

It is good money, there is no doubt about that, but coupled with moving to Florida (which I have ripped on for years about how shit it is) and the fact that there was a legitimate conflict of interest issue involved it was not worth the trouble.
If enydo doesn't understand that then whatever, apparently he has never been in a position where he has to protect the work he has done (over a years worth at the time of the offer), or for that matter actually has created something of his own.

I am sorry, but the two parts of the country are about as far away from each other in every aspect as they can get. I enjoy mountains, cold winters, cool summers, inland waterways and the big ocean. I enjoy liberal, progressive, and educated populations. Florida has none of those things.
Ask Jake, I am sure if he had the ability to have his GF back in the PNW and have the same income he'd do it in a second, and Georgia, at least Atlanta, isn't even as bad as Florida.
Also, why should I move if I can stay here? Its not like I am destitute.
