Care to provide details? I will gladly update.

Sure. Dance Trax is closed. I believe decadance is closed. vinyl market is gone. Finyl Vinyl is gone.

You need to add Sector, Academy Records, Academy Records Annex, and Dope Jams.

as for clubs,
Studio B is gone, Exit's gone, m2 is gone, love is gone. you should add sankeys and district 36. additionally there are a lot of other electronic music parties and venues, but since they don't cater to the trance crowd, i won't bother listing them for this post.

you might also try Long Island City:

definitely an area a lot of yuppies are moving to. queens is becoming something like a culinary destination for a lot of people. and you can hit up MoMA's PS1 to see some art and check out the party on saturday. last saturday party will be september 3, though.

Where can I go to really feel connected? I need culture. I need to drink it in.

Long Island City is the best bet. You are 15 mins away from midtown and can catch tons of good trains.

I need to rub culture all over my penis and then pretend it isn't there.

I need to meet AVANAVANA.

I need to go with her to shop for vintage clothing.

I need to do this.

i can't believe i forgot about this:

this is like the ultimate euro hipster social hotel/hostel experience. it's located in morgantown, which is like part of east williamsburg and the top of bushwick. this is one of the fastest gentrifying areas in brooklyn. lots of europeans stay here. it's right on the l train, so it takes about 15-20 min to get into manhattan. you can get a private room.

Cheers for this recommendation, Avana. We ended up going with this place. Very cheap, and you don't even have to pay until you arrive on their doorstep, which my bank balance is eternally grateful for.

FYI, this is the case with most US hotels, so long as you're not using travel sites to make the booking. I never use them to book hotels, for this reason.

Cool! I live near that neighborhood actually. There are some really cool places around that area (Morgantown) these days - I'm sure you'll find that out pretty quickly, but if you need any more recommendations, let me know.

Roberta's (pizza place that hosts a lot of parties, incl. a disco party every other sunday)
Life Cafe (healthy and hearty food, free delivery, $10 minimum)
The Morgan (new swanky restaurant that hosts some parties)
The Narrows (swankier bar)
Brooklyn Fireproof (bar with outdoor courtyard)
Guacuco (arepas)
Momo Sushi Shack
Pine Box Rock Shop (vegan cafe/bar, ex-coffin factory)
Wreck Room (big dive bar, with weird food menu, basically pseudo gourmet rice balls)
