Imo, looking a women up and down once, and possibly turn your head to see her walk by is perfectly okay, and many women like that. I doubt they put on slinky dresses unless they'd want the attention. But when it goes from a quick look to outright staring, that's not only tacky but disrespectful.

sure. but sometimes women don't necessarily want to look good for the sake of the opposite sex. sometimes just for friends, and sometimes it's just fun to dress up and look nice and feel confident about oneself. Yes that can be attractive to others, and sometimes acknowledgment can be nice, but other times people can simply be invasive. There are certain appropriate occasions and situations for approaching someone, and other times it's rude, creepy, or frightening. Some guys get that, others don't. I think women in general are more sensitive to this, and men feel entitled more often to take whatever they want. Just because a woman looks pretty doesn't mean she wants to talk to you or waste a part of her night out with any random John Douche.

Not to mention that it's also heterosexist to assume automatically that a woman is interested in men even if she's actively expressing affection to another woman. Some guys actually believe they can 'turn a lesbian straight'.

What about women who oogle men? You bitches are not exactly June cleaver anymore, and are pretty aggressive these days. If they know you have a gf, they can be even worse.

i brought this up already - it's another thread.

ogling is disrespectful all around, IMO. I think it's sexist that some women think they can get away with it simply because they are women.

I got my cock grabbed the other week right in front of my gf. Needless to say what happened afterward was more than a little annoying. Had i known that 21 year old girls love men in their 30's so damn much, i would have turned 30 a long time ago.

And the ogling is often accompanied by a rude remark or cat call, also disrespectful. And yes, plenty of people do this, but the reality is it comes more from men because it's more established as 'normal' 'male' behavior in modern society. I'm not at all saying it should be this way, this is just what we're working with.

I do get what you're saying and I wouldn't disagree with you for a moment if you said blue-collar culture puts too much emphasis on male aggression. However, I'd draw the limit in an altogether different place: I used to be ogled in Japan (and I love that country for that ) even when my fiancée was by my side and angrily stuffing her cheeks like a blowfish ready to charge. Was it disrespectful? I'd be hard-pressed to say yes, because I really can't see how that affects me or anything related to me in any way.

Rude remarks maybe are degrading because they expose you in public in an unflattering way... but silent ogling? I find it hard to follow you that far.

It certainly affected your gf....which should be relative if you enjoy your relationship

I'm not really jealous, and I kind of enjoy it when my gf gets looked at. That being said, when it is flagrant and I'm standing right there, I do occasionally get the urge to play Jay the Dentist and give the dude a "Gordie Special" right in his grill.

It just feels disrespectful towards me, and alpha males don't play that shit puto.

Not really, we both just laughed about it later - it was more of a territory marking thing

She had never noticed how brazen girls are there.

Again, I'm not talking about just looking at someone, I'm talking about staring and ogling , particluarly when it becomes lecherous (undressing with eyes)

The only difference between women and men is that women ogle men when they aren't looking, because they don't want to the man to know they're giving him their attention, and men don't give a fuck, because they think assume the woman wants their attention. Men mostly have a 'throw it at the wall and see what sticks' approach to women.

In both cases I personally find it rude. Maybe I am old fashioned.

They seemed amazed to see someone with blue eyes. I have very vivid blue eyes.

You sure it wasn't because they were scared that you would face plant into the ocean with that massive head of yours and trigger another tsunami?

Actually, so am I. I just wanted to make sure rude remarks and cat calls were left out.

Well, maybe it isn't a laudable behaviour. I, for one, try not to do anything similar to that. Regardless of my reasons not to do it, I'm very careful not to say everyone should think or behave like me unless there's some sort of harmful consequence. I'd be more worried about second hand smoke than random ogling, for example. Or - and this is probably more of a sexist problem - gender pay gap.

What's with gay dudes thinking it's all cool to feel your girlfriend up, right in front of you, because they're gay?
