From the reviews I have been reading it sounds like he bored people to death at EZ as well, although he had a bizarre time slot for that festival being stuck in between SVD and A&B.

Sounds like he had an off week in general. Possible exhaustion (heat) or maybe his hearing is finally starting to go.

Digweed used to be insane at the end of 2007 and before then, his sets are really legendary. The music in his genre just isn't as good anymore... It has all been done before and the lame attempts to remake to reproduce the past just don't work.

He is still a great dj, I blame it on the music. Honestly not a singe set from him starting later 2008 was extraordinary...

Anybody remember the Bonaroo set from 2007 S&D or his manchester warehouse set....

Those were the times...

Even his massive set @ B&B was good but not defining...

get off your techno high horse for a second.

That was the worst fuckin set from Digweed ever. It was nowhere near the set that he played at Guv few months back. NIGHT AND DAY. I was so pissed and couldnt believe how bad he was playing.

I'm sorry to hear the negative reviews and that you guys don't have anything positive to say about the night,

The crowd and vibe was stellar, everybody screaming, hands in the air right from the start, all the way to the ending. The sound was so good.

I had a blast opening and closing.

I heard Digweed from 7 am to 8h30 and I absolutely loved the tracks. I honestly thought it was great. I did a power nap between 4h30 and 7 so I missed a big part of it.

Super cool and sweet guy, from what I know he was up for the last 26 hours or something...

Anyway, we have another great Black Out guest next month. Flyer this week.

Until then I am off to Thailand for a well deserved vacation. See ya!

techno??? what does techno have to do with my point....

My only argument is that the sets him alone and S&D played back in 2007 and earlier were much better then anything they play now...

Call it my 2 cents, but I am not the only one who shares this opinion.

I caught him from 530-8, pretty dark stuff coming out of that room but at certain points I had to leave the floor, ears hurting. Good set.

Your argument is that Digweed has been delivering underwhelming performances more recently due to the music that is currently available to him.

Time to smear some paint over that rust, eh?

Posted by mmax24 on Sep-06-2011 20:21:

sure lol

just dont say the only negative comments are from this board

Posted by Fran666 on Sep-06-2011 20:43:

you weren't even there.

like I said I preferred his performance in June, but this saturday was definitely not crap. Just that maybe people expected A and got B. That's all.

I didn't feel the dancefloor was bored like it was with Fei-Fei going dubstep on us this friday lol

anyways max has some footage of the night you'll judge by yourself if people weren't having fun.

Posted by Marcus007 on Sep-06-2011 20:59:

it definitely wasnt a bad night or set by any stretch of the imagination. Diggers played very well but maybe ppl just didnt like that it wasnt hard enough. But the music quality was def up there. Loops proggy tracks all night and supposedly John liked it this time around better than last time (weird huh)

I was there, had a great time and yes people were having fun!

Digweed's set wasn't the tightest and most programmed, but most people commenting on Facebook wouldn't notice that. They, as well as I, enjoyed the set build until the 4th hour when bangers dropped non-stop. Lots of applauses throughout the night, so he had to be doing something right...

Also, thanks for fixing the AC issue!

One last note- Fran666, you should open a second account for circus that is more professional and only announces events etc. Then you can use your Fran666 account for your personal opinions etc. Just my opinion... It would save you a lot of hassle on here

Very good post. I especially agree about the last part. Spare yourself the hassle, you know what I mean?

I use the Circus Montreal account to announce events, podcasts and all.

I catched 45 mins of Creator's set... pretty solid and excellent vibe in the club ! I didnt stay for Digweed, not my cup of tea, but if the vibe stayed the same, it was surely an awesome party

Posted by Maxrain on Sep-07-2011 01:55:

I think a lot of people were expecting Diggers to play the same kind of set that he did back in June and were dissapointed with the fact that there were less techno tracks (apart from the banging last hour, as some have pointed out before me) and more prog tracks (with more melodies and breakdowns). Thus, it was less relentless this time around.

He admitted that he tried lots of new tracks on that night, so it might explain why the programming was not as tight as it usually is. It was still a very solid set. Some of the techno tracks played in the last hour were out of this world! It was very nice to hear one of the new remixes of Slam classic track Positive Education, and Alan Fitzpatrick's Moon Palace as the last track.

Creator played an excellent opening set. The vibe he created was perfect for Digweed and the transition from one dj to another was very good.

Not as many people this time around, so we had more room to dance (and it was less warm). The crowd was interested in Diggers' music and showed its appreciation throughout his set.

Again, a very good night out at Circus.

I really enjoyed this set from Diggers. His set from June was completely different which personally I preferred this one more. The set in June was really hard techno and prog; pure relentless from start to end. As for the his set this labour weekend, Diggers created a great sounding set filled with prog, techno, electro elements at times, and some classic hits I noticed throughout the set. You can definitely tell he pulled out a lot of unknown and futuristic tracks that you couldn't imagine hearing anytime soon. I found during the middle of his set (after 2 hrs) the music was just too intense; complete mind boggling- my feet and ears couldn't comprehend the different sounds I was hearing. The best part of his set imo was during his last hour and a half. He played some rocking dancefloor bangers that completely woke up the crowd and made us all groove; no other Dj has ever done that, just complete grab you from the balls and made u dance your ass off...

Overall the party was a success...Diggers played a 4.5 hrs set...A.C problem is fixed which is a big plus...the vibe was ok this time it's no stereo vibe; a lot of pushers and rude ppl I bumped into but it can't be always perfect...Creator hands down created a fabolous atmosphere for J.Digweed was hoping he would continue after his set . Even though Diggers set was different from the last he truly shines as one of the most talented DJ's around - less than 2 months he returns and doesn't play one single track from his last gig. Big ups to Circus on this one...can't wait for his return once again? Definitely enjoyed this party more than Cox's gig at Stereo!
