ok - fucking G&D KILLING IT! ARMIN - FUCKING HELL! Haven't felt this much energy since... fuck, like ever. Non-stop bangers, craaaaaaazy. You could tell crows was loving that shit!

Arty - also pretty fucking sick. that "new york city" track - holly shit, goosebumps!

jesus christ! Gabriel and fucking Dresden! holllllly fuck! Set of the WEEKEND, AFTER ARMIN!

Posted by tubularbills on Sep-05-2011 04:14:

WHAT A DAY!!!! This weekend has surely been epic:

Super8 + Tab - AWESOME. Some classic trance (although remixeD). it was cool to hear some of the "oldies".

Arty - AWESOME!!! Ending with Adiago for Strings...I still thought that was awesome.

IT WAS SO HOT IN THE RIVERSIDE TENT!!! wow!!! i was dripping with sweat. and other people's sweat too. really, REALLY hot.

walked over to Guy Gerber. he was meh. just not really my style. however, after Arty, it was a nice "break" from the epicness.

EDX was good. again, extremely hot in the Riverside Tent. (not as bad as Arty though).

Did Gui Boratto for a little while. again, a nice "break" from the epicness.

Ate some food. that cheeseburger in a crepe was cool. long wait though. like 25 minutes or so...then another 10 after i ordered. whatev.

Caught the tail end of Michael Woods....but it was so packed in the Riverside, that I didn't actually go in. once a lot of folks cleared out, i went in for Gabriel and Dresden. GREAT SET. Although I didn't care for a few of the "harder" tracks. i don't know them, just felt like it was the same stuff that was in the Hilltop Arena all day. and ending with tracking treasure down? ugh...poop. lol. i was hoping for Dangerous Power. regardless, a fun set.

ARMIN. The normal Jesus stuff, but since i haven't listend to ASOT in years, I didn't recognize a lot of stuff he played. so it was new to me, and full of energy. I was so surprised at the amoutn of people leaving after Afrocrap. I was like, "wtf, you're missing the good one!" hahaha. maybe they went to boyznoize, i dunno.

Fireworks were cool, thanks Made. I didn't know that Armin Reprise song. it was all right. Shivvers would have been better though

Anyway, a great day; thanks for hanging out with me fellow TA'ers. the company was great. good times.

3 days was epic. i thought two days the last two years were amazing...three was just awesome. honestly, fatigue has set in despite the crapload of water i've been drinking...and i can't remember a lot of little details. but it was an awesome three days.

PLUR and all that stuff. next year bring more trance!!!!

wtf? was Simon not there?

actually... yea i heard he was... bet he lost his music or something

love this Guy Gerber set - very funky, even tho the kind of stuff I'd never venture to try on my own. Glad I heard it. It's typical your 4AM Ibiza terrace music - dark, edgy, slinky, sexy. This set is SEX.

Posted by aNYthing on Sep-05-2011 05:04:

wow. Dubfire - definitely awesome!

Looking at pictarz from previous years EZ (2009) - found this...

I wonder if Larry The Cable Guy's set was any good?

Posted by drewz926 on Sep-05-2011 05:50:

chris liebing, gui boratto, and dubfire tore up the grove today...

Deepak, Ida, Guy Gerber and Dubfire had the sets of the day imo. I'm torn between Ida and Dubfire for best of the day. Today was BY FAR my favorite day. Liebing and Hawtin were also good, but I had issues with both of them. Liebing got monotonous just hammering basslines non-stop for 90 minutes, could have stopped with 60, and Hawtin had too many soft points followed by huge bombs, and if you were over on the side of the tent closest to the Hilltop Arena, all that you heard was Boyz Noise during the quieter moments.

I thought Gui Boratto was...not good. I've seen him before and I was disappointed. Even when he played his remix of Paradise Circus, the transition in was bad and the transition out was, too. The set had ZERO flow.

Also caught the first 4 songs of Chromeo, who I didn't really enjoy. They remind me of LCD Soundsystem, who I also don't love, as well as 80's style Prince with the guitars and all. Went back to Nico Jaar, who I've also seen before and this time may have been worse than the last. It's just too fucking slow in the middle of your day. I guess it's good that Gui's all over the place set was before rather than Liebing's, but I have no idea how the scheduling/programming was done this year. Digweed's position yesterday was awful, too (Sander van Doorn -> Digweed -> Above & Beyond, REALLY?).

Posted by Burak14 on Sep-05-2011 06:27:

this weekend made me realize yet again that trance is at it's worst. everyone who is big/famous enough to play these kind of big festivals are re cheesy as fuck minus sean and simon. mat zo was good too.

Sick 3 days. Thought today had a little more today than yesterday.....I don't think that space could fit much more, had to have been like 40k people there

that.s what i was thinking. they eventually have to upgrade if they wanna keep up or even get close to that of ultra. but where?

Posted by matt167698 on Sep-05-2011 06:53:

Typing this from my phone so gonna keep it brief... I thought today was insane and def had a much better time than yesterday. Hardwell>EDX>Woods back to back was so much fun. Tent was definitely hot as hell but the crowd was loving it... smiles all around...great vibe! Armins set was solid. Was a bit out of gas by that point but hung around for a high energy set... fireworks were a nice touch but why no lasers? Didn't get into afrojacks set so went back and caught the last 45 of G&D. Honestly athough the show was pricey I was pretty stoked about the $3 waters and $5 red bulls. Not raping people with like $10 waters prob saved a few people trips to the ER.

Posted by Neonbeats on Sep-05-2011 06:56:

And I'll have to say that Afrojack started out his set nicely and the crowd was going wild. Water being sprayed and glowsticks being thrown in the air, then he got way too mainstream.

Posted by Dreyth on Sep-05-2011 07:20:

I don't care if trance is at its worst (it is imo) but walkin around from stage to stage was annoying becauseeee... What is up with this SHM sounding crap all the time? I feel like every house track sounds the same. Before it was about that whiny crap (pon de floor, etc), now it's about the SHM sound. Honestly. I don't care if house gets 10x more popular than trance, i'll never get into it. I felt as though every house DJ played the same fucking set, just in a different order wtf.

And i WISH more trance like this would come out today. I'm so surprised this is new and not from like 2001:

ALL TIME LOW!!!!!its so sad!

Posted by AY STAR on Sep-05-2011 12:05:

ugh iam in desperate need of new legs and feet ahhhhh but the pain was all worth it

super 8 and tab- not bad, played a predicatable producers/sing along vocal set...was ok

ida- mmmmmmm she is so god dam sexy, oh yea her set was good also

liebing- fuckin murdered the place hands down...hard banging techno had the crowd by the balls

gabriel & dresden- i knew exactly what they were gonna play and just went and saw them anyway, it was fun to just hear all their songs from back in the day

snoop dog- guy got paid to stand on stage and talk a bunch of gibberish with hip hop and 80's pop music in the background
unreal, but he was def saying some funny stuff

armin- caught the first 25 min of his set, opening track was ok but after that it was blah...they did have some really cool visuals and fireworks tho they went all out...i heard he did better later on but i just wassent feeling his begining

hawtin- killed it

now i hate to be a negative, but here's something that really really pissed me off (listen up made event)
why the hell was the volume soooooo low in the begining of the day for the trance guys?...on sat for zack, mat zo and the first half of sean and simon it was very low, yesterday for super 8 and tab it was the same thing and that tent was pretty packed when they were on, but meanwhile sunday school tent the volume was loud all day long..def something you should look into next year, just cause its early on dont mean its right to keep the volume that low, we didnt pay money to hear low music...come on guys

and another thing i felt next year all 3 tents should be the same size...no need to keep switching it around with line-up's/day's in order to fit everyone

other than that iam very happy i went all 3 days, everything went smooth def worth the price...probly the best e-zoo to date
thanks alot to everyone i saw i had a blast

they are limited by space...i mean they did move the stage back this year but by time the headliners were on the crowd was up till the red bull tent

i suggested bigger tents for sure and all the same size, only problem would be they would be too close together and it the sound would bleed
if they can find a different way to locate the tent's so they wont be too close togeter, but yet be bigger at the sametime that will def help them next year...other than that besides central park i dont see many more locations in nyc that could hold that crowd and yet be in a good enuff location where anyone can get to it by walk, bus, train, drive etc

Unless on his CLR Podcast, I wouldn't count on it. I don't recall it being on the Sirius broadcast list.

Super8 & Tab played a very predictable but extremely enjoyable set, 8/10

Arty started extremely strong and awesome, then went way downhill after about the 50 minute mark, 6/10

Guy Gerber was awesome, first time I saw him and he did an awesome job, 8/10

Chris Liebing started out very good but eventually it was way too monotonous for my taste. I've seen him many times and although it's always banging, once it hit the 40 minute mark, the monotonousness of yesterday's tunes actually started to bug me out. I ended up leaving, and coming back for his last 10 minutes, which seemed like he turned the ship around, 6/10

Gui Boratto was awesome, it was my first time seeing him, so I can't grade him compared to other times, but I absolutely loved every song he played, he took me over the moon, 10/10

EDX was an extremely pleasant surprise for the short time that I caught his set, 8/10

Gabriel & Dresden are not Gabriel & Dresden anymore, 4/10

Infected Mushroom, always awesome, 9/10

Armin van Buuren played a high-energy set but at times very un-AvB-ish. I'll give him a semi-high score because of how well he played to the crowd at that particular time and place. A lot of people needed that (and not an uber-trance set), 8/10
