Is this a good example of techhouse? Never really liked this tune:

Nah I'd classify it as the latest trend in house music, the indie house sound thats all over RA and Pitchfork. Whether the trend lasts, who knows but I like. I call it hipster house. the Danny Daze and Benoit and Sergio tracks are excellent.

Last 35 mins of my mix shameless plug cough

The genre definitely has its place, like System-J said, as a bridge genre. But hearing 4 hours of the stuff would be a total bore. I wonder which of these records coming out now will be seen as "classics" in a few years time. Kinda like minimal from a few years ago... can anybody really name any minimal records that were huge from that era that they still play?

I don't think that's what Matt had in mind when he started this thread.

i like it. not too distracting, constant energy level. if i am inebriated and on the prawl I dont care for a "journey" or "switch ups" or, god forbid, funk or soul

aint nothing wrong with most of the stuff postedn, it wont change your life but its better than guetta and it keeps the ladies happy. for everything else there are headphones

I know there's legit real black-made tech house out there, but most of the stuff today is just an excuse for people to do drugs and feel "sophisticated".

Couldn't agree more. In 09-10 I witnessed a surge of tech house DJ's come into the scene, and almost all of them looked like hipsters. I mainly put the blame on them for making this boring click-clack music trendy. Luckily it's starting to fade away in my area, but now it's all about moombahton.

i think like any genre, there is good and bad...mostly bad nowadays, which goes for every genre. too many people making music, most of whom are not creative at all. i'd say most decent tech-house is the older stuff, newer is just boring. like others have said it works wonders between different genre's. i don't mind a set of tech-house, however, it needs to flow and build perfectly, otherwise it's just a set that plods on and goes nowhere.

claro intelecto makes great tech-house...

Would you really call modern love stuff Tech House? I mean even if you think it's Tech House (I'd still clasify it as Techno/Dubtechno) it has nothing to do with the vast majority of Tech House today.

i'm not talking about modern love...no they don't really release tech-house if that's what you're saying, however, claro does produce it here and there. it's not the conventional take on tech-house, but it's still noticeable. the difference between him and the majority of other tech-house guys is that he has a unique style.
