I swear, I don't know how dumb people can be sometimes. This is a quick way to rally more support AGAINST the establishment and the police. Don't they know they're being taped 24/7 these days? I wonder how much the protesters take before it turns into a riot against the police.

I have a 50-hour workweek at an office job and spent part of my weekend at this protest; it's not the $1.09 chips I'm fighting for, and I'm definitely not there because I have nothing better to do.

"Occupy Wall Street" is as much a shout of anger at Wall Street as it is a shout of anger at out country's society and work culture today.

When did our 9-to-5 jobs turn into 9-to-6? And then the 9-to-6 job turned into "9-to-6 but don't be the first one to leave the office because we're watching you, so stay until 6:450 or 7:00"? When did we accept paycuts and cuts in overtime and benefits because they convinced us "we're lucky to have a job"?

Just because the ONE article on the New York Times about this week-long march tells you "they don't have a message", doesn't mean that's true.

There wasn't ONE single law Martin Luther King Jr.'s march on Washington was targeting, it was a general movement by people of all backgrounds that told our government that things need to change.

Don't belittle the movement because the New York Times or Fox News told you to, that would be very short-sighted and ignorant if you thought for a second who owns and supports the New York Times and Fox News.

A few thousand people demonstrate on the streets of Libya and Egypt and it's thrown up on the news for 3 hours a day.

i'm so torn over this issue, i've been following anonymous for a while now, reading twitter, and following all articles pertaining to these events. i sympathize with the message yet i don't want to be on any of these videos, nor do I condone what the nypd is doing, even worse is my brother in law is a cop specifically in manhattan south so it's his district. he's in the office now from an incident during the PR Day Parade, so I watch this in horror as well as in defense of those protesting.

OccupyChi is up and running and I hear Trump's building has a group out in front.

In all honesty, between london riots, mid-east, sf bart, now boston and chicago, it's all too familiar that these occupations are coordinated in such an organized manner. ask yourself, what's really going on?

Honestly, I'll be the first one to say it sucks that the cops are stuck in the middle of sticky situations like these. Cops are getting fucked by "the man" as much as most of us, if not more. They make less a year than some of the peeps out there marching.

I also do agree that too many people are looking for problems too. So many people are just there with Flips and iPhones trying to get something, ANYTHING, out of it that can be deemed controversial. This is the case with most demonstrations post-2005, and I've been to a good number of them throughout the past few years. Our obsession with social media is both a blessing and a curse. Half the kids my age are standing around like zombies staring at their phone screen and barely participating in the marches or chants.

Anyway there's the obvious cases over the weekend where I think everyone agrees the cops FUCKED UP. However, we can't even begin to equate them with the dark forces that are ruining this country, and to do so is just dumb and completely missing the point. How many first responders haven't received any medical help for symptoms suffered on 9/11? How many cops are getting their pensions cut and salaries lowered? They're in the same boat we are getting fucked by the same people and policies that we are.

Now for your protest update: When we checked in on the live feed around 9:30 this morning, the protestors were marching, playing drums and chanting: "All day, all week occupy Wall Street!" this goes out to all of those that believe they aren't being affected by this countries' economy and way of governing and that the world is still flat, simply bc they have a job (as of now) that's maintaining them...don't spoil yourself!! bc if you were to be laid off or fired...you think it will be easy for you to find a job right after? and if you luckily do, do you think it will be anything close to what you have now (salary base, schedule/hours, etc)?

EVERYONEEEEEEE that's not part of that "1%", which i'm sure is everyone on this board and their mother, should be involved in this..unless you're shitting out $$ and have several mansions off the shore around the world with a private jet to get there while the person next to you is struggling to pay their rent.

btw, just to clear things up...i may seem bitter bc i sound butthurt but, thankfully, i have a respectable job with a good pay thats under contract by the state..however, my life would be much better if it weren't being taken advantage of in a country where im producing to help out the economy for it to come back and bite me in the ass!

When I was down at the General Assembly on Wednesday I heard they were still drawing up potential demands which will be voted on this weekend. So some of these may very well become official but I'm pretty sure these aren't. Even the n+1 article says, "I agreed to take notes, and as we talked wrote down the following list of potential demands"

The "reporting" (I don't even think we should give it the honor of calling it that) on this demonstration has been absolutely ridiculous. [Insert large media outlet here] interviews [insert odd hipster Williamsburg character from Northwestern State here] and generates an entire story full of oddball quotes and pictures. Obviously, they're not going to report any of the intelligent informed people they spoke to there, and obviously they're going to spend hours weeding through their photos for the most wacky and colorful pictures they can put on their site. Articles like these show how the media world are DIRECTLY and proactively fighting the demonstration, it's unbelievable.

Business Insider really has the balls to base an entire article and give source credit as "Source: n+1", what the fuck is n+1? Sadly, they're not the only ones doing this kind of "reporting".

It's like Yahoo! Sports quoting some guy's blog about what tactics he thinks the New York Giants are going going to take in this week's game, and headlining it "Tom Coughlin's strategies for this week's game."

Yeah that was dirty, and left a bad taste in my mouth, not cool... "Beginners' mistake" as they say it; the organizers, if you can call them that, are regular everyday young people, very energetic, but yes, not so organized. They're certainly learning more and more each day and having the unions on their side is certainly going to help.

yea, the wording made it clear it was BS. i would love to see an organized list of actual demands, but it seems that will take them a few more weeks.

n+1 a quarterly magazine of culture, news, and literature. it's put together by very smart people, most of whom are intellectually sympathetic to the protest.

the funny thing is that not one person on wall street gives a crap about the protestors - a few buddies of mine that work in the wall street/world financial area say it's just been a source of entertainment for the past few days.
