^ This is funny and, sadly, true. I try not to judge people too much because I'm all for people going out just to enjoy a party.... but I've got to admit that even I get a little irritated when people are out and about during WMC for only that reason. I think we all hold that week in pretty high regard because of how special it is to have probably the best week of edm in the world righ here on our own soil. So, please, if you are one of these people, at least take a look at the flyer so you know who you're listening to.

Dreamer already answered but, yes, we have stayed at the Opera Tower the last few years. They are privately owned apartments/condos just on the other side of the Venetian Causeway from Ultra. We have been lucky enough to get the same place each year and it is up near the top in the 50s. Up until last year, though, the main stage was facing away from us and all we got was a jumble of music from all over. Last year, however, construction in the park forced Ultra to move things around a bit and the Main Stage was facing us. The ASoT tent was in between, but since it was covered the sound was overpowered by the acts on the main stage. We could hear everything very clearly and see the lights and stuff. After f*ckin around on South Beach most days, we would always come back to the place and catch the final few acts while getting ready and pre-gaming on the balcony. Even aside from our luck, we prefer downtown because of the proximity to the clubs we frequent the most. We can walk to Ice Palace, Space, Parkwest, Vagabond, most of the boats, etc.... South Beach is very convenient for all the pool parties, so I always suggest that first timers try to stay around there at least once. We just don't attend them enough to make it count. Frankly, I'm getting too old to drink all day in the sun and still enjoy the clubs, haha, which is still what I like the most. In addition, downtown lodging is usually quite a bit cheaper, so if you usually find yourself there anyway, it's worth checking out some places. The Tower might even still have openings. Homeaway and Cyberrentals are the best websites and you might even find an owner renting out from elsewhere on the web.

As a sidenote, several people on here can attest to the fact that our place is good for a quick drink on your way to the downtown clubs, so feel free to pm if your interested in meeting up. Haters need not apply.

Think I saw your TA post about pregaming and was going to swing by last year before heading to Space on Friday for Markus Schulz but got sidetracked and didn't make it...

Did you find the Opera Tower rental through one of those sites, or did you have a friend who lives there? If you rented, do you mind sharing what you paid for it? Just trying to get a feel for what the prices are like. Thanks

Was really surprised when I saw this. So disappointed. This was going to be my salvation from all the crowds i expect this year at the other parties. Luckily I'm going to Detroit this year.

I still remember my first Sunday School at Pawn Shop. Literally dancing by myself at 10am and I look to my right at its Richie Hawtin.

"..we won't be hosting Sunday School in Miami this year as we continue to focus our efforts on the Electric Zoo Festival in New York."

Its good to know they've got their priorities straight.

Posted by lounger540 on Jan-17-2012 18:29:

GAY Fucking sell outs. I regret buying EZoo tickets for next year. I'm just going to sell that shit.

Posted by trojans14 on Jan-17-2012 19:05:

I hope all that extra money and focus goes towards the sunday school tent. But I have a feeling it will probably go towards the main stage or a brostep stage.

You just have to know what parties to go to

lol yea i made a mistake last year of going to some crappy parties
but iam saying as a whole the wmc is just getting more commercial

Posted by trojans14 on Jan-17-2012 20:20:

Electronic music is getting more commercial in the States in general. I don't think its necessarily a bad thing. You just have to sift through more crap to find good stuff. But I think there will be more good stuff underneath that crap. The commercial djs are usually the ones that get people into the genre anyway. Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten got me into electronic music lol.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone else to step in and make another sunday school like event. You know there's demand for it so if you have the resources why not do it.

Posted by ravracer16 on Jan-18-2012 00:26:

I got this from the Florida board. Mansion's new look and motto. "DJs are the new rock stars."

Looks like the Circo Loco party it will be for me this year if there is no Sunday School. Hopefully there is a Drum Code and Minus party as well. And let's go crazy, but highly unlikely, since Ultra as the Cocoon tent.

kinda sound like me, except my wmc years were 02-06 and when the following things no longer existed down I decided to stop going

1 - RADIO 1 FRIDAY PARTY was always free, ALWAYS! This was the party to be at, not ultra, this party kicked off WMC. It was THE PARTY to go to in Miami.
2 - Ultra moved from BAYFRONT to BICENTENNIAL. Anyone who experienced a BAYFRONT ultra knows how awesome it was, so many chill areas not many 'VIP' areas and the tickets were cheap!
3 - TWILO'S PHAZON TENT closed down

I preferred Sunday School in the PAWN SHOP, I spent a bunch of hours inside that school bus, I liked the inside/outside feel.

Those days are long gone, sad to say it but like most things nothing great lasts forever.

BTW - We used to pay $35 for a mojito pitcher with 10 straws in it at nikki beach, I wonder what that goes for now. LOL

last year i saw people with plastic chinese soup containers filled with mojito's i think they said the bar that served them was like 15 bucks...so you have that and a few call a cabs and your shitfaced ha ha ha

PM'd

Found it on homeaway originally and now just contact the owner directly. Prices around there have gone up in the last few years. I think owners started wising up to the demand. Still, can't beat the location for our needs. Hotels in South Beach are crazy expensive for what you get. Try looking farther north cause hotels above 40th are usually way cheaper than those below 20th. Taxi and bus options are available for getting around.

any of you guys selling any extra ultra tickets???

Posted by lounger540 on Jan-24-2012 00:19:

Probably, but I don't have them in possession yet and I'm waiting to hear what replaces Sunday School, but I'm 99% sure I'm getting rid of my 2 sets of passes.

This lineup looks good, but I'm doing drumcode this night. I hope the bedrock party on saturday at vagabond has a similar lineup.
