At your age you're blessed to be doing what you're doing. 10 years ago there was not nearly as much abundant information and tutorial type stuff on YouTube or the web as there is now. Just do your own thing, never lose sight of that. The only real disadvantage you have is your lack of listening experience, but that's just my opinion. Get some decent headphones or studio monitors, mix at low volume, and have fun.
PS: Spend as much time as you can listening to the classics, see if you enjoy them. If you do, it's a good sign!

Actually I'm pretty sure you said auto erotic asphyxiation was good advice. You're just a bad ass know it all, ain'tcha? And oh yeah, it's sarcastic when you say it initially, but someone reciprocates the point and you retract your sarcasm as logic. Seriously. FUCK OFF, no one will miss you!

More compulsive and delusional lies. Oh and great masturbation advice. Learn to fucking spell and write ! Jesus Christ ! What ? It. Did stuff. Man I'm ready to make a point. I. Love. Internet is noobs. I'm not a troll.

Jesus, dude. Chill out. I'll let L4C fight his own battles but that's not exactly true. You're letting some pretty minor stuff (even by Richie's standards) get the better of you and, honestly, a lot of provocation is coming out of your corner. I can almost guarantee that while he might be disagreeing with (his understanding of) a lot of what you have to say, he's not as concerned about your differences as you are. You're perfectly entitled to disagree with him and have your own opinions/methodology. Let the proof be in the pudding instead of being ham-handed about whatever perceived injustice you feel so compelled to square. It's not that big a deal.

Well said, some people on this site just need to stop arguing and respect everybody else's own opinion.

lmao. yes, I am very familiar with various hallucinogens and psychotropic substances and the subjective experiences that follow their ingestion, thank you for point out my potential issues though.
I was responding to L4C's comment suggesting ketamine. far enough into the k-hole you'd probably forget that you exist entirely, if you can even conceptualize the idea of what "existing" means. so my comment was valid.

Since when did this site become a drug forum??? Posted by Looney4Clooney on Jan-12-2012 18:10:
all my drug references are jokes. Judging ? maybe on the inside but i just thought ketamine was funny considering the topic.

i confess meth is amazing for producing, everything looks sweet, you are extra motivated, happy, enjoy the task... another practical use of booze is the hangover, mixing with it gets to good results, what sounds pissing sounds double pissing when you have headache so you polish the tracks a lot.

This conversation has actually brought up an interesting thought in my mind. Is it possible that some producers have made tracks under the influence of drugs??
It would be pretty funny if you were to find out that a classic such as "airwaves" would made when Rank 1 was high...

Drugs--->Emotions--->Song--->Profit?
But ya seriously does this work like this?
Posted by Looney4Clooney on Jan-13-2012 03:14:
nope
hardwork -> profit -> drugs -> reality tv
When ever you hear of say a cool artist that kinda falls off the radar, it is almost always a drug related issue. I mean some people settle down. But ya, if someone doesn't do something for a while, they are hitting the needle or the pipe.
If you start relatively close to the work of a new album, that album might be great, but it is really all down hill from there.

for the latest Children of Bodom album they say only needed around 100 bottles of vodka, they are proud used to be a lot more and combined with other stuff.

I wrote this from about 11 pm to 5:30 in the morning, stoned out of my gourd the whole time. I fell asleep until 10, woke up and couldn't even vaguely remember what the track sounded like before I heard it again. That was pretty cool
Well, that's a rework of it, the original mix is on my SC too but the mixdown is awful.

I don't ever want to be tempted to do drugs, but if you made anything like that in the condition that you said you were in, then I am speechless.
---------Off Quote Topic--------
So it looks like the overall consensus so far in this entire thread is to get high, take breaks and avoid masturbating for long periods of time.......,

that track sounds neat, i can speak from the experience, right now i've smoked nearly half a gram of hash, let's see what comes out, may post a sample of what i achieve in this following hours

heh, "condition". I'd say the fact that I stayed up until 5:30 was more significant than smoking weed the whole time. you can still think and act coherently, you just have a bit of a different mindset and pattern of thought. kind of amplifies your emotions a bit too, at least it does for me.
hell, some of my best ideas I've come up with after smoking a fatty. I don't suggest mixing on it though, way too hard to focus on minor details like that.
I've been off the stuff for 5 weeks now, longest break I've taken in a year and a half, but I'm planning on smoking tonight. maybe I'll try writing too, I'll post what I make if rodri posts whatever the hell he's about to do. half a gram of hash, jesus fuck.

not only is it possible, it's highly likely. i know of a few producers who love drinking in the studio. i can't do it, i lose focus. maybe a couple beers and a cigarette, but generally it distracts me. i don't know everyone's work flow or habits, but i typically don't even work on music without cannabis, it's just how things turned out.
this one i was, for sure. this is just one example, but every one of the songs on my SC were done smoking cannabis. only because it works for me and that's how i choose to work.
but other drugs, i simply don't do (that time has come and gone), and certainly don't use them when i'm making music.
edit* additional note: drugs tend to fuck people up because they do them for the wrong reasons and in an already bad state of mind, and i honestly don't know of anyone who is doing "drugs" in the studio. if you consider cannabis a drug, alcohol and cigarettes easily fall into this category so that would certainly expand the number of people doing "drugs".
but let's keep it on the level, cannabis and something like meth are entirely different, and cannabis, especially for someone who has been smoking it for years, is not very mind altering, just kind of euphoric and enhances creativity, and gives me better focus. keep in mind i'm 24, so 10 years older than you, so i know how my mind interacts with it and don't have to worry about it affecting my development as a teen. to be honest it's a non-issue. if you are making great music, no one cares how you did it (as long as you're not noticeably endangering yourself).
Posted by Looney4Clooney on Jan-14-2012 00:00:
meth probably works great for the first 2 days. Then you will probably find the FBi van outside more interesting.

When I said "condition", I meant that in a general way, including the fact that you were up till 5:30. I find it impossible to work on my music past around 2-3am.

this thread turned an interesting direction and maybe isn't that strange to do drugs in the studio, a lot of painters did in the past and it's not a secret, sometimes wasn't imagination, their reality was that...
My yesterday experience, i haven't listened to the track on detail but doesn't sound that bad, i worked like 5 hours on it 3 hours while i was on hash which gives me relax and quietness feeling , rarely do this but smoke cigarettes usually when producing , almost i smoke as much as when i go clubbing.
The last 2 hours i came back from clubbing drunk like a monkey and started at 6am till 8am or so when i was so wasted that i closed it because i barely standed on foot.
The result is this, more psychedelic/acid that what i usually do, melodies are rather mediocre, specially the last one seems like Zombie Nation - Kernkraft... who cares really.
