one thing people should check out is the Blofeld.

The fact that you can load your own wavetable and samples. pretty much you can do all what these do and more for way less. Waldorf is just so bad at marketing. The blodfeld is really the most versatile synth being sold. I mean you can steal wave forms from any synth, using samples as well, i mean it is endless.

They truly are. They managed to single handedly commit suicide by making a softsynth version of all their synths (which sounded the same) and then went cheap on software copy protection.

The SL option, which makes it so powerful, you won't find a single video of what you can actually do. It is ridiculous. I mean it is absurd. You can make it do everything all those drum machines do, you can make it sound like any synth .....

it is a shame.

just bought one of these... now i need to find an eprom burner

Posted by DJ RANN on Feb-16-2012 19:27:

You can find tons of them on ebay. Shouldn't cost more than $50 just make sure the types match up and get a USB one. The serial ones can be be a pain in the arse.

i got a few machines like 808, 707, rx5 and plan on getting more, i love the sounds and the groove you can get through them, only con is how expensive they are + maintenance.

i have a blofeld and its very quiet

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Feb-17-2012 18:46:

had the same problem , then i noticed this thing called volume. Turn that clockwise.

Posted by cryophonik on Feb-17-2012 18:59:

I saw that low-output problem with the Blofeld posted pretty frequently a while back. Not sure if Blofeld had a bad batch, or faulty design early on, but it seems that I recall reading something about a firmware update to fix the issue.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Feb-17-2012 19:03:

the design is really simple , open it up check the capacitor. There is like 8. I had the issue with the encoders and used the trick using a resistor of some ohmage i can't remember. I lace my material with codeine. Soldering is way more fun.

i was eager to try it out and instantly i got hooked. I'm registering my license now and going to install the new firmware. Basically i'm running the blofeld on its first firmware

The firmware does fix the volume issue. Ver 1.02 or higher will do it.

How is the Mbase, is it quiet or loud enough

Posted by Raphie on Feb-20-2012 21:36:

It loud, just use it as the center of your mix and mix around it.
2 kick to get you started nbr 38 and nbr 42 (veryy subby)
play with it's compression setting, magic starts around 75. and with the decay.

sync the LFO to the beat and you'll very groovy things going on.
It takes a couple of days to get used to it, but best tip i can give is mix and build around it.
