Well if this isn't a classic because it has an off beat bass line then there are no classics... where's the trance love, MSZ? Sure there are plenty but this is still a fine example.

What I use for porn and internet is ubuntu linux on a Live USB flash drive. It's the best, I love ubuntu linux.

im still new to trance production so im sure my tip is no secret but it may interest someone.

I like to Automate my high pass filters for sounds that play during busy sections of a song and then play on their own in a breakdown or something.

For example, I may have a kind of "anthemy" lead saw sound which will play the "main hook" on its own with no other instruments playing and then continue playing that hook once the rest of the song and instruments kick in. I find that if I set the high pass filter so the sound works while the entire song is playing, it sounds too thin/small when the hook is playing on its own, so i automate the high pass to be off then on once the rest of the instruments kick in. Once its all playing you dont really miss the bottom end from the lead hook instrument because the kick and bass are now filling in the bottom end of the spectrum.

im loving automation more and more these days!

I sold my last piece of gear the other day, the virus b, so I'm now working completely ITB. I'll probably end up buying another virii at some point down the line but for now it's just software. Sad but liberating at the same time

Ontopic, actually do return to your abandoned projects and turn them upside down to create something new.


To keep learning, remix yourself, or re-do your previous tracks with new ideas(from scratch, but otherwise works)

Don't overdo the stereo field.

Try to imagine how others would percieve your tracks, and I'm not talking about DJs and producers.

Totally unprofessional feedback(Nicky Minaj fans) can actually be quite useful, regardless if it's correct.

From time to time abandon producing completely, get a week off, just to reset yourself.

Avoid spending a shitload of time on programing the drums, you can do that later on, this phase is a creativity killer.



All of these are subjective as hell.

That guy makes some pretty tight presets. His absynth soundset is amazing. He also has a couple of videos with his sylenth soundset which are also excellent. I don't often buy presets but these are good imo.

Would you recommend artificially reducing the amount of stereo on the unnecessary stereo parts (FL Studio has a knob on each mixer channel to reduce/increase stereo for example) or choosing samples/synths that are already mono/only slightly stereo to begin with?

Change your workflow, and if you can, make it harder for yourself, got a maschine mikro 2 days ago and I went from making fluffy house to old loopy disco house lol but thats besides my point..

I try to only use the hardware and do alot of menu diving and my workflow now is pretty tedious, but for some reason I enjoy it way more, my loops are not synced, every thing is handplayed and it sounds like the 90s but ive rediscovered the fun part of music, and I think that its because its harder and more tedious.

I have that feeling that we all had when we were noobs, where you completely loose track of time and dive in the music
