DT "retired" so he can get more bookings.

He was loosing his loft in NYC, and had other financial problems. He went through all of this in his rant.

And look what happened, he sign a 5 gig deal with Insomniac and is doing better now...

I'll probably just get a Saturday ticket, as I assume Group Therapy will be putting on their shit show on Friday. Tyas b2b Patterson and W&W are worth a single day ticket for me.

Last I checked, they only had weekend passes for $149 GA.

I used to get excited about W&W like the rest of you, but a couple of weeks ago I heard a new episode of "Mainstage" and for the first 20-25 minutes I didn't hear a single trance song, all electro-house. :/

Plus I've seen them like 3 times already this year, so they're not going to draw me to a 2-day festival.

yup...sadly w&w is slowly going downhill also for me just like a lot of other trance DJ's. Pretty sure I can name a whole bunch of Trance DJ's who has started playing electro and progressive house more and more into their sets.

One of the most disappointing DJ to me is Sean Tyas. He used to play amazing uplifting trance on both his shows and DJ sets. Now, he starts his sets with Electro and only leave the last 30 min for the old stuff. sigh...

as much as i like w&w, the first 3 songs they play are always the same in their livesets. change it up!

i feel the days of artists playing IDs are so few - then again there were never this many set recordings even 2-3 years ago.

The real reason artists don't play many IDs anymore is because the market shifted to digital distribution. IDs were a huge part of the vinyl era (due to limited numbers of pressings). Since that era died, IDs are becoming less common (primarily, in my opinion, to the proliferation of individuals who don't buy high quality copies and choose to rip versions of tracks). There is little enticement for a label to put a tune out there way early prior to release because of the piracy issue these days and the fact that labels really make very little money from sales anymore.

I dont know if this is relevent but I stopped listenign to ASOT years ago because 90% of the tracks armin would play weren't even set to release for 6+ months after the episode aired. got old really quick, as someone who likes to download tracks

This is not the case anymore. Maybe 1 out of the show is that way. Almost all promos are at release these days unless its off someones album in work on their own show.

I agree with the trance going tech house. It is annoying. I loved the hard trance that was once rank1, cosmic gate, etc. But there really isnt much out there at this point that get heavy playtime. W&W are one of the few but yes they have changed their style as most do. If they booked a Classic Cosmic Gate set that would be epic. Enough with their progressive snooze fest + Emma Hewitt. Bring on the hard stuff. Rank1 live was fun. Lets keep up the classic sets.

I doubt you will ever see Cosmic Gate of the Firewire era again. Claus (aka Nic Chagall) just has no interest in that sound at all from what I've seen since... 2004 maybe. Stefan (Bossi) does not seem to be the producer type. Even in recent years, the sounds that seem epic are mainly samples of tracks of yesteryear. Sadly, in all honesty, Cosmic Gate now rides on its old reputation so hard that I don't feel they would be that relevant anymore if they didn't have the past successes.

Although for those who weren't able to make it to EDC, it's not bad I suppose.

I'll be skipping this and probably going to Escape from Wonderland.

you should have seen Phil Hartnoll of Orbital then when he went INCOGNITO last 2010

Maybe he couldnt afford to pay for a longer slot?
That guy should count his blessings he's even getting booked anymore, I thought that girl who was getting death threats and her website hacked was insomniac's resident

Weird. Digweed is listed as playing Saturday from 11PM - 12:30AM but on Digweed's website it says he's playing in Chicago at the Mid on Saturday as well?

I am keeping my fingers crossed that they bring some of the art from Burning Man to Nocturnal this year. I know last year and the year before they had a couple of the really cool art pieces from Burning Man.

HAHA 15 minutes wtf? Sounds like he pissed someone off over at insomniac.

Also - just want to point out that Insomniac is releasing time tables almost a month ahead of time! That is unusual, but welcomed of course.

Posted by junkproject on Sep-05-2012 04:23:

I wonder how much is he getting paid for 15 min.

Posted by jdub889 on Sep-05-2012 05:50:

i would guess it is a contractual thing ... i.e. his residency contract says he will make $50,000 and be booked for 10 shows, and 4 of them have to be massives, or something like that. insomniac seems like they've lost interest in using him as an opener lately in favor of cantrelle, brooks, dinaire, etc so maybe they're just running out his contract now that the year is finishing up. just a guess, cause fifteen minutes isn't even worth taking your usb stick out of your pocket.
