well i guess i take into account the fact that he had no reason to run.
The fact that they decided to extradite him means the evidence is beyond solid and they will throw the book at him. The cost of the extradition is more than he stole so is fucked. Not to mention the money he could of used to pay a lawyer has been seized. He evaded police, caught with the money, and put Canada thru the pita to extradite his fat ass.

500 000 is just not enough to leave your family and friends. At least not to me. That is 5 - 10 years of income for most people.

I suppose i don't know all the details. It depends on who you are running from. I'm actually surprised he was caught so easily but given he used his passport and went to a really small island was pretty dumb. He could of taken a boat to SA and paid his way to Argentina. But even then , 500 000 is just not alot of money.

And you can't start investing money unless you have someone to launder it for you. Unless you want to get caught. This guy clearly did not think it thru.

He should of just stayed and fight the charges. I'm guessing he didn't bother to call his lawyer before leaving.

A judge ordered that $273,000 seized from accused thief Nickolas Guindon-Vachon in Aruba be returned to its �rightful owner� � the company behind the Escapade Music Festival he helped organize.

Judge Albert Roy ruled Tuesday for Guindon-Vachon�s former partners.

They reported about $600,000 missing from the Ottawa Stadium safe after the two-day techno music event that drew 15,000 last Canada Day weekend.

They were visibly relieved outside court.

�Obviously tons of money is still missing � it�s a start,� said Ali Shafaee, a director of DNA Presents which needs the cash to pay its bills with plans well underway for the 2013 festival.

Guindon-Vachon was arrested on the tropical island on Aug. 6, 2012 and returned to the city to face charges of theft over $5,000 and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Guindon-Vachon, who cross-examined Shafaee because he�s currently representing himself, opposed the move.

He argued that the math on the missing money doesn�t add up and said he has yet to face a trial and isn�t guilty of theft.

Roy heard that Guindon-Vachon has abandoned a bid to get some of the cash to pay for legal expenses because he doesn�t have a lawyer.

DNA lawyer David Dwoskin argued it�s in Guindon-Vachon�s interest that the festival�s bills get paid because he, like his former partners, could be personally liable for debts.

A prosecutor said the actual cash which police will photograph before handing it over isn�t needed to prove the case.
