| Originally posted by basd Don't try to 'get into' progressive if you don't like it, just because some friends say it's cool. You have to discover for yourself what you like, and don't let others talk you into something. I for myself found out a few years ago (after listening to trance for a short while) that I like progressive a lot more.. Only listening to prog because others tell it's cool results in loads of people who don't really like the music, but listen to it because it's 'cool'. Chances are the next step is people producing cheap-ass wannabe prog just for the cash... This won't do the music any good. |

Sasha - Xpander
got me into prog

| See thats what makes progressive so great. It never fully climaxes like a full on trance track. It slowly builds and builds keeping a nice steady pace throughout. With trance you have your buildup then the climax and then anything after the climax is just kinda bleh. Know what I mean? Ok its like sex. You know when you have been going at it with your girl for a while (probably 5 minutes for most of you...hehe) and you are both just about ready to climax...well instead of climaxing imagine having that great buildup feeling (the feeling right before you climax) the whole way through. You'd never want to stop! There is no need to "pull out" during a progressive track. You just keep bumpin n grinding all night long. Uhh ya anyway that is progressive my friend. |

the biggest misunderstanding is Progressive is trance..... when the fact is most progressive is more house related then anything else ..its pretty much a genre of its self... Progressive is a Vibe....it can be house, trance, breaks, etc but the vibe is progressive ...but if i had to put it into one of those genres its more house related. most people who listen trance dont like it cuz they are so used to the layout of trance music they get the feel that there is nothing happening in progressive ... but the fact is progressive has ton of things happening mainly in the beat! and THE GROOVE!!!
I say ones u get the feel of progressive there is no other style that compares ..IMO
I'm sorry. I know that it has been up on the forums before but if someone doesn't mind to explain the following question:
What is progressive, how is it different from trance?
I can't distinguish from the two. I read it on the forums before but it didn't quite make sense to me. Does anyone have a simple explanation?
Thanks A Lot

Personally, I like progressive if it's mixed into a nice set. But progressive tracks standing alone tend to be not powerful enough for my tastes. Cheers, Arbiter |

well crew you must understand that this is a TRANCE forum and therefore many people who listen to the knobskin uplifting shit will probably progressnot understand ive. So theres not really any point in arguing with the uplifting trance genrelists, they havent crossed into the darkside yet.
