-- Nord Lead 4? (speculation ahoy)

Yeah, I know people want analogue, but Nord has always been proudly digital...and successful. Don't get me wrong, if they ever did add analogue in some fashion, I wouldn't complain (depending on price), but I just don't see it happening.

It does, but my biggest and maybe only complaint is the little LED screen. Why? I mean, seriously, why? The NL3 and Wave had proper screens, so why go back to something so archaic?

I'd like to have seen at least some kind of DAW integration, better polyphony and perhaps even some analogue pathway to make moar phat.

But still, it's on the list for sure.

I think it will still be a good seller, yeah maybe would have been nice to see more new stuff but maybe they thought it best to stick to what they are good at

The wavetables and filter options are a nice little addition - would be a fantastic synth for someone looking to get into hardware - i know I will GAS for this eventually but not sure i could justify having it along with my 2X

That's right. Focus on the important stuff.

Music Radar are claiming the rrp for the keyboard version is 1549, or more than 50% more than the old version.

Erm, really?

Posted by cryophonik on Apr-08-2013 23:04:

What's "rrp"? Is that retail, or street price? Either way, it's a lot less than the Wave and even less than the retail price on the NL3 (based on the USD conversion, that is).

Hopefully: cost

Possibly: style they were going for

Price is $2,200 for the rack...

Ya recommended retail price.

The NL4 is really an update of the NL2 rather than the Wave or NL3 so I'd expect it to be far more closely matched in price.

I'll see what deals are around after launch. I expect it'll be at the 1250 level before too long.

yes resail value is important as im probably gonna get tired of it after a while when gas is out

I think people have come to accept that Clavia Nord keyboards are generally red.

Judging purely from the demo, it does not sound like a Nord Lead 2 whatsoever.

I'm still in denial.

It does seem like the demos are really showing off the wavetable/FM synthesis and on-board FX, but I'm guessing that if you chose not to use those and stuck with the standard oscillator waveforms, you'd essentially be using a NL2.

Still only 20 voices too.

Boh!

Posted by Zak McKracken on Apr-09-2013 20:06:

4 part multi timbral so if you use all that you could start running into note stealing.

Posted by Zak McKracken on Apr-09-2013 20:14:

thats true but if ur using all four parts you probably dont want to play advanced chords imo. this limitation isnt really a limitation imo, but keeps you focused on things that might sound good. not like the virus which could do all kinds of shit but never sound good. bounce if you need more.

Posted by cryophonik on Apr-09-2013 20:15:

20 voices is plenty for my needs. I don't care what anybody says, that thing is a big red box of pure sex.

Quite literally what the fuck are you talking about?

You could easily use 5 part chords in one of 4 parts of multi timbral, and the Virus sounds good, a lot.

Posted by cryophonik on Apr-09-2013 20:22:

Personally I never/rarely used more than one part with any of my NLs when I had them, so voice stealing was never an issue for me, even with the 16-voice NLs.

Posted by evo8 on Apr-10-2013 09:18:

hmm pricey, but the musikmesse video sounds so nice
