Do you need any isolation whatsoever?

Did you read any of the big headphone thread up top? The one that explains all of the problems with the V700DJ? Also, are you able to get any closed headphones by "Sennheiser"? Oftentimese, a much less expensive headphone can beat the brand name headphone...

uhm.. I'm not too sure what that is if it's music production related, but otherwise no.

What I meant was, in what environment with what sort of tools will you be doing production? Will you be in a quiet room, or will there be loud noises around you?

You DO realize that $60 canadian isnt even remotely close to the price needed for even a 'mediocre' set of studio monitoring headphones. If you double it, we have some options... Now, what are you using for your speakers with production? The idea is to make a track or a mix, when recording, that sounds good in both studio monitoring headphones and in studio monitoring speakers...

Talking headphones

well I just picked up the technics 1200 headphones, and I must say I am quite impressed with them.

WOAH!!!

Look at this site...

*blinks*

This guy is somewhat of the black sheep of head-fi (he's one of the few there that likes the V700DJ), but he offers some interesting comparisons of a LOT of VERY intruiguing headphones!

In case you guys have not seen, here is a nice review, well not that good, but still, its a comparison between four headphones:
Sennheiser SE-DJ5000, Sennheiser HD25, Sony MDR-V700DJ, and Technics RP-DJ1200.
Its called "Battle of the Titans" by Wayne Ellis. Here is the link:
http://www.pcmusic.co.za/archive/20...ones/index2.php

In addition, there is another review of of several headphones, but not as in comparison for djing, more for studio reproduction purposes and overall natural response.
The guy reviewed the:
Beyerdynamic DT250

Etymotic ER-4P

Sony MDR-7506

Sony V6, Grado SR80, Stanton DJ Pro 2k

Check it out, the guy mentioned that his V6 and the Sony MDR7506 sounded different and he actually gave the 7506 a higher review.

Ill also post this at the headphone sticky.

What else have you compared them to, besides the sony 700DJ?
Have you ever tried Sennheiser, like HD25 or HD280 Pro? Or Technics RP-DJ1200 or even the Pioneer SEDJ500?

Ive heard good things about the Ministry of Sound, but I want to know what other headphones they were compared to.

Okay...

So there is Magicthyse's review:

There is this Wayne guy's review:

There is this Multimedian review:

And there is this recent discussion at head-fi about Magichtyse's review:

Cool

MoS IXOS DJ-1001s

I have tried many headphones over the last year or so of varying price from the very cheap to the very expensive, and I haven't found anything quite as nice to mix with as these, headphones ARE PERSONAL, what works for one person does not necessarily work for a person like them, so what other people have to say IMO is irrelevant, try before you buy and get what is right for you not some other guy.

sony hdj v500's 4 life!

except the little foamy bit is becoming torn (only abit!) do you know how to fix that? maybe use some crazy glue?

Posted by ShadySlim on Oct-18-2002 21:30:

Meh, I assume that most of you are using headphones just for DJ'ing (and not at all for extended listening). I listen to music for hours at a time (and listen to almost all different types of music, to boot), and NONE of the so-called "DJ" headphones are ideal for such a use. Nor are most closed headphones, either. Thus, the ONLY headphones that I trust for extended listening either plug WAY inside my ears (and thus provide extreme isolation) or are very open-air (and thus provide no isolation at all whatsoever).

Posted by Bernd_Gradish on Oct-20-2002 15:48:

I am using the Technics RP-DJ1200

Posted by Otte on Oct-20-2002 17:48:

I use the Senn's HD-280's, excellent value for money. They're godly headphones, so clear!
I bought them for 120 euro's in the Netherlands.

Indeed, I use the Pioneer HDJ 1000 right now, I used to use sennheiser hd 280 pro but these headphones SUCK in a club environement, they distort like crazy. so for xmas i got HDJ 1000 and im pretty satisfied with them, there sexy and the bass response is 1000x better than the hd 280 and it doesen't distort!.

You realize that I no longer claim that the HD280 are good club headphones? *chuckles* I wonder how the RP-DJ1200 compare to the HDJ1000 in a club environment... also, have you tried using the high notes rather than the bass to beatmatch?
