I was watching Three Kings yesterday.... cool flick. It actually talked about the stupidness of Bush Sr. during the Gulf War, and kinda made you look at it through an Iraqi's point of view.

Entertaining too.

Are you tell us that killin soldiers is right ?
they are man... like you and I.

Killing is always stupid. But there is a difference between two sets of equipped and trained soldiers who go into the conflict expecting danger, pain, suffering and possible death, and someone killing innocent civillians - this is the difference between war and terrorism. In my mind a soldier that shoots an enemy soldier during war, is not morally culpable for the death, whereas someone who sets of a bomb in a public are, killing many innocent civillians, deserves no mercy. This was a line that Osama crossed a long time after he was helped by the US.
The US was helping a man who was defending his country from the Russians (in this case the Afghans could either lay down and submit, or stand up and fight - they had no choice). At the time he was being supported by the US, Osama was a soldier fighting for a good cause. When he masterminded and carried out the plans for the attacks on American embassies in Africa and the attack of S11, he became a terrorist.

Perhaps it can be argued that the US has knowingly supported terrorism at some stage, but the example you gave is certainly not an example of such support.

At the time it was in the interests of the US that the SOviet Union didn't get a hold of Afghanistan, as this would guarantee them a monopoly on Caspian oil. Also, there was no way they could have known that he would turn into their most hated enemy. If anything their mistake was not giving enough support to Massoud and his people, this would have created a more balanced power-base and possibly prevented the Taliban from gaining power in the first place.

Actually I've got CNN on my TV. What non-US channels do you have on yours?

Posted by Psygnosis on Sep-29-2002 11:25:

This is just another of Bushes ploys for the oil.

I hate the motherf*cker as soon as he said Iran or other countries are terrorists, i mean he has no FUCKING right to call Iran or anohter country a terrorist..

America is a fucking hypocrite, america is the fucking terrorist, they are the ones that are creating this bullshit..

September 11 had a reason behind it, the Afghans are not cold blooded, but they do take revenges options..

The reason behind Sep 11 was a fight between Russia and USA, USA called the Afghans to help, as soon as the Afghans helped then USA fled their own fucking war, bloody chicken shits...

Posted by astroboy on Sep-29-2002 11:33:

Where do you get your information from? I'm noty anti-US at all, I support any actions against Saddam's regime, I'm just not naive enopugh to believe that the US is concerned about the plight of the Iraqi people. As for the trade barrier thing (are you talking about the farmers' subsidies?), that's just old fashioned, protectionist economic policy, as well as being hypocritical.
Here's an article about wht people are talking about when they say the US supported Bin Laden:

i think we have every single english news channel existing (UK channels too)
we're the news country, too much action

by the way, when's the US next elections? i want the democrats back

Posted by Az on Sep-29-2002 12:30:

I was extremely impressed by Tony Blairs statement about obeying international law, if the UK help the US remove Saddam, something which Bush clearly doesn't give a flying fuck about. Anyone see the anti war protest in London yesterday? 400,000 ppl campaigning against military action in Iraq, and it was organised in less than 48 hours. If it'd been widely advertised, I'm sure the numbers would have been far far more than that. I know I'd have been there

DIVERSITY NOT ASSIMILATION

I want to invade Iraq now, because I don't want to wake up one day covered in anthrax or be in the exterior ring of a nuclear blast - that's why. You knew I was reffering to the Hussein administration when I said "Iraq", you didn't have to cry foul. Also, look at the other people in here that support bombing/invading Iraq - you aren't upset at them?

Also, when my country is insulted it very damn well is my business.

Posted by fastmp3 on Sep-29-2002 17:17:

-i'm not upset about them because no one said "blow the mother******s" or something of this genre , each one has his opinion which i respect but he has to express it politely
-war = war , if you bomb iraq they will do the impossible to bomb you back
-iraq has no reason to bomb Canada
-no one insulted Canada , so i still don't know why you said that comment

LOL, canadian television is dominated by American tv channels. NBC, ABC, CNN, FOX, we have it all.

Do YOU know whats going on? Osama Bin Laden was trained by the United States to fight against the Soviets in Afghanistan, Iraqi soldiers were trained by the US to fight against Iran, and your government admits to that. I'm not gonna argue the irony or the motives behind that, but you seem to be talking out of your ass.

With the UK having the 4rd largest Economy on earth, being one of the main diplomatic powers, and having played a large part in the mess that is the Middle East atm, Blairs trying to sort it all out, whether or not he thinks the best way to sort it out is to side with america or not, he's come out and said the UK will stick to international law, thats something Bush has not done

OK here it goes:
fact: saddam has chemical and biological weapons and has used them on innocent civilians before
fact: saddam got his weapons from guess who ? USA !!! that great land of freedom and seeking for peace.
How did that happend ? back in old years... A US General gave Iraq chemical and biological weapons so they could use them on Iran.
fact: Iraq never used them against Iran... oups

most of what you posted is true, and i agree with your opinion. However, iraq DID use chemical weapons in the iran-iraq war.

quote:

One of the chemical-warfare instances reported by Iran, at Hoor-ul-Huzwaizeh on 13 March 1984, has since been conclusively verified by an international team of specialists dispatched to Iran by the United Nations Secretary General. The evidence adduced in the report by the UN team lends substantial credence to Iranian allegations of Iraqi chemical warfare on at least six other occasions during the period from 26 February to 17 March.

The efficiency and dispatch with which this UN verification operation was mounted stand greatly to the credit of the Secretary General. His hand had presumably been strengthened by the announcement on 7 March by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) that 160 cases of wounded combatants visited in Tehran hospitals by an ICRC team "presented a clinical picture whose nature leads to the presumption of the recent use of substances prohibited by international law". The casualties visited were reportedly all victims of an incident on 27 February.

source:
http://projects.sipri.se/cbw/resear...sheet-1984.html

Iraq has chemical weapons, and will not be afraid to use them, saddamn is a brutal dictator.

This is an interesting thread, i am reading along, just wanted to point out this small inaccuracy.

Stick to international law ? which is ? cause as far as I know, Blair is wedding to go with the US and attack Iraq weather it is or not aproved by UN. Correct me if Im wrong, but thats what I understant.
