I asked for the headphones that were recommended to me by cryophonik (BeyerDynamic DT990 Premium 30-ohm version) and they are kind of expensive ($379) and my mom responded to me, "Why do you need $379 headphones? Why don't you get the Dr. Dre headphones?" I had to explain to her that they are popular more because of their brand name and look rather than the actual quality. The power of brand names/marketing...
I guess I can't complain much though because she doesn't know much about those types of things.

Geoff I saw that you were close to getting the PMC brand back 0'13. I was doing research on the monitors and saw your thread at gearsluts homeboy.

That was based on me moving and having tons of money in my bank account, but alas the lawyers are still scuppering those plans.

For now I just bought the Dynaudio BM5s

Oooh, well thats good. I had BM12a's and they were awsome but little fatiguing on long sessions.

Yeah, that's WAY expensive. Actually, the ones that I originally recommended were the DT990 Pro (not Premium), which can be had for half that price, but apparently aren't available in a 32-ohm version. IMO, I'd keep asking for more suggestions before spending that much money.

Damn. I just got my fingers wet, I'm liking it so far. I'ts limited and not as convenient to program as the Juno 106, but it's quite pleasant so far. Definitely not racking my brains here as I was with a Yamaha DX.

Posted by Innocence Lost on Nov-26-2014 19:46:

Awsome but like robo trance said, you don't need that.

There's a couple of software editors for it which would make things a lot less painful, and I even recall there being an editor on the iPad too.

edit - yeah, iPG800 for iPad

Especially when you buy a couple of decent FX pedals to go with it

I do, they are fucking assholes.

I will however concede that the brutes are decent little synths that fit well with my current limited space, and I also bought a used one so they don't get their greasy French hands on my hard earned (cough) money.

What kind of FX pedals?

Posted by Innocence Lost on Dec-03-2014 23:57:

Now if i sell my monitors if i'm correct i'm with 2,025 left over.

I'll prob get this but i wonder about a/d conversion quality for outboard synths.

Resident Audio T4 - Thunderbolt interface.

500 Series Moog Series Analog Mono Delay for my Bass Station 2 and others.

500 Series Better Maker EQ with high, low pass filtering and USB control.

i'll def be set.

Waldorf Pulse 2!

I just got an unexpected Christmas Bonus from work and just bought a Waldorf Pulse 2! I'm so excited for my first analog synth!!

I went on YouTube and played demos for a few different analog synths for my wife to let her hear the characteristic for each synth. Bass Station 2, MiniBrute, Mopho x4, Tetra, Moog Little Phatty and the Waldorf Pulse 2. My wife likes the Moog sound the most so I was surprised when she agreed with me and said she like the Pulse 2 more than any of the analog synths I mentioned, including the Moog. She was so impressed that she gave me her blessing to spend my Christmas bonus on a Pulse 2. I got it new for $649 + free shipping. I can't even describe how excited I am.

I'll have to put my Roland JP8000 up for sale though which is a bummer but my wife and I have a deal that 2 hardware synths is enough. I'll sample all my favorite patches from the JP8000 before I list it for sale though.

I think it was the right decision, my Virus TI Polar and a Waldorf Pulse 2 will be one hell of a combo I think... alot of versatility between those 2. I'd sell my left arm before I'd ever sell my Virus TI but the sound from the Pulse 2 is absolutely amazing. IMO it blows away the sound from the MiniBrute, Bass Station, Tetra, and Mopho x4.

I'm glad you made the purchase man, I also love my pulse 2!

i was looking at VST editors for the Pulse 2, you mentioned in another post that you have the synthmania one:
https://synthmania.de/2013/11/waldo...dalone-und-vst/

but i found a 2nd one that exists too, there's a big price difference between the 2 so i was wondering what your thoughts were. did you look into this other editor too:
