Now Jay-z and partners are sad. Apparently some numbers (subscribers mostly) have been exaggerated when acquiring Tidal, formerly known as WiMP. Former owner counters saying "A publicly traded company was acquired, which means transparency of financial reporting was required".

Lol, good luck Jay-Z - it's buyer beware and unless he can truly prove they doctored the figures, then this is going nowhere. The other thing is that he's only trying to sue for $15m due to what they say were dodgy subscriber numbers - Even if he wins, that won't cover 6 months of their losses.

He's fucked either way.

In related news, apparently, Apple are being very tightlipped about their Beats Radio numbers. One leak put Zane Lowe's segment figures as little as 25,000. Not bad for a web radio station, but when you think he was poached from Radio 1 where his show had several million listeners at it's worst point, they must be wondering if the price tag was worth it.

Maybe now Tidal will start getting subscriptions since it's the only place to hear Prince's music.

Oh shit, they really might be fucked. He publicly stated the album would not be available elsewhere for the premise of soliciting subscribers.

If they get enough people singing up to the class action, it wouldn't just mean tidal goes under, but Kanye could go broke. Let's hope Kimmie got a prenup.....

More bad news for TIDAL.

It seems JayZ never paid the Swedish lawyers who assisted JayZ to first purchase and setup TIDAL, and yesterday they filed a suit to recover $600k in unpaid legal fees.

https://www.vibe.com/2018/05/report...urchasing-deal/

They apparently billed him for larger sums in 2015 and he only made a partial payment, leaving $600k still owed since then.

You'd think he and Bey could find that kinda money down the back of the sofa, but apparently not.....

Tidal aka Falsify

I just saw this, and the fallout gets worse. Apparently according to a N0rsk newspaer, Tidal is way behind on royalty payments, to the point that artists are now pulling their music from the platform and suing Tidal.

Man, how long is this thing going to survive?

Tidal has now come out to say the Norwegian article about the royalty payments (linked above) was the result of an "internal breach". Basically data has been compromised and that's how the story leaked.

Tidal won't say how deep it goes though.
