Really excited to see the renovations and Danny's set on Sunday! The facade design looks real pro.
Time for a proper marathon!
Fur Coat + Tenaglia is gonna wreck me tomorrow! I have to see how long I can survive, I'm hoping till at least 8-9 AM.
Bubbles, Should've gotten those early tickets mang.

yayayayayaya!! one more sleep!
aiming to be there for 4.
wake'n'zone has become wake'n'nest
Danny came on around 330 around that time we decided we would leave soon. Stayed till 5. It was way too hot. Unfortunate. Everything else was fine but that heat was unbearable.
not on mobile, semi-proper review now. they had two lines this time ! a ticket line and a GA line, was impressed. they let us in through the downstairs. like they used to when it was 'moskito'. that floor was completely dead and empty. upstairs was packed. they switched smoking patios from the back to the front from when we got there. bathrooms are the exact same. i like how they removed the step to the bar and booths. the dj booth looks like a crack heads shopping cart to be honest. I've never been so hot in a venue as i was there. i don't want to say it cuz i always preferred moskito and ryze to coda, but real talk - coda is a better venue. i was so pumped for hernan next friday before the detroit trip but fuck i was sweating buckets before danny even came on and had to cut out like 2h into his set. from what i caught he was mediocre - decent. after 5 o'clock i can't say because i left. the venue is no better than ryze, they improved some aspects but the heat was a step back. it really ruined what could have been a really fun night
I was prepared to go for the long haul but I brought my.jacket and there was no coat check, so I was stuck carrying it around. It was also hot as hell too, I left early at like 530 or so. I was enjoying being outside at the front more, enjoying the air. I thought Danny was playing alright, I enjoyed Fur Coat more beforehand. I dunno if I can come back to this place if its gonna be this hot
Where was traktor?!?!?! lol awesome night, stayed until 12 afternoon
Nest was amazing I have to say, just walking in, I just felt potential. Sound definitely got a revamped, sound as good as the sonic/boa days, room layout also gets a huge+++ with more space, less bottles, thicker walls, softer floor. Ventilation was unbearable at beginning, that's what you expect from a pack club and low ceiling, but I believe they will solve that issue
I don't understand why you're out with a jacket to begin with. This isn't the only club that doesn't run a coat check at this time of year. I showed up in a t-shirt and a pair of shorts at 4AM and was completely fine the whole time. Mind you it wasn't as busy then but I show up prepared anyways. If you say it was too cold outside to be walking around in a t-shirt and shorts then you're either not Canadian or you're just a pussy.
From what I've heard the renos are only 75% complete and they are spending a fuck load to completely redo the ventilation which should be done the next couple weeks. I really like the renos they have done so far. The dj booth is creative. Made up of warped pieces of wood - literally looks like a nest. The blue lighting in it reminds me of Comfort Zone's booth. It's also been pushed further back with the speakers (the front two and rear two stacks). Those changes along with the elimination of the raised booth on the west side and the booths right on the dance floor and foosball table has REALLY opened up the dance floor. They have also gotten rid of the god awful lighting rig. The lighting could stand to be dialed back a bit more but it was only an issue for the first few hours of the set then the whole club was darker. I can't stand being blinded by lighting. I prefer lighting that is nice to look at (like Coda's). They have these bare light bulbs hanging by one cord each above the bars and bottle service booths. Not sure if these are new but I really like them.
The DJ booth is very dark and level with the dance floor now. You could hardly see Danny! I wonder if it's intentional so people aren't paying visual attention to the DJ all night like it was back in the day. Focus only on the music and the people around you. Maybe one day people will start dancing in all directions instead of only facing the booth. The area behind the booth is very dark so you can't even see if there's anyone back there... unless they're looking at their phone
On the wall behind the booth is a design that reminds of the Batman logo. They project video onto this early on in the night. Very cool addition.
A few other small changes. They have extended the area at the top of the front stairs which should speed up entry and get rid of any bottlenecks. At the back between the bathrooms they have a bunch of warped wood on the wall in the same fashion as the DJ booth. There is a MASSIVE disco ball above the dance floor the size of stereo's. Finally, they had a 10 foot ladder leaning up against the wall near the back with lighting on it. I'm not sure if it was placed there purely for decorative purposes but I definitely bought a 10 foot ladder as decoration when I lived in a loft so I will just assume the same lol. As mentioned earlier, the dance floor seemed softer. I pulled a 12 hour stretch there for Danny's set and my feet survived!
Overall, I really like what they've done so far and am excited to see the rest of the changes they have coming. Obviously fixing the ventilation will make a big difference and hopefully it's completely sooner or later. There were 2-3 areas in the club right on under the a/c units that shot massive amount of cool air out. These spots were golden when I first arrived.
Visually, the club seemed like the offspring of stereo and comfort zone lol
I've been told these changes are still to come: Some middle speaker stacks on the sides, some extra Nest decor, painting & freshening up, plus some additions downstairs including a fully functional kitchen. They will also be adding to the signage at the front to make it look more like the rending Alex shared (I assume).

| Originally posted by Nobbie Q Venue itself is good otherwise. I think they made the booth closer to the ground like Coda to give ppl more of that intimate vibe with the DJ, but it also makes ppl not just dance towards the DJ which becomes weird LOL. |

You like the booth ? To me it was an eye sore. The only problem I had was with the heat. That instantly removed it from the top clubs list, but as you said they are still working on it. I never inquired about re entry instead I ripped mine off asap. In hindsight I shoulda went to bed, woke up and returned. Electric island was garbage and im only returning because of dettmann, that is if I don't make it out to the ostgut show in mtl. Hey maybe ryze can counter electric island with marathon sets. That would be make for good competition
They'd be stupid not to do re-entry for a marathon set. It's more money in their pocket if people are able to leave to eat and/or sleep and come back to spend money at the bar.
Any club open for 12 hours or longer should do this. Zone had it right all those years.
I was told that they'll be letter any dj play as long as they want there so expect Hernan to go very late if he is willing to keep going. We'll see how long the crowd lasts, though. I don't think other DJs would enjoy playing to a room of 20 like Danny lol

I left at 4:45PM with the music stopped, house lights on and Danny talking to the 15 people left. After I left someone convinced him to play one more track which turned into a 2.5 hour set lol.
Woke up at 10 and wondered 'would it be worth going to Nest?' - figured it'd probably close out by noon, so didn't bother. Sounds like I coulda gone and gotten in a few hours of dancing.
Did they add any non-bottle service seating there? That's what I hated about Ryze, when you want to take a break there was nowhere to sit down. Coda is much better for this.
Looks like Marco Carola is coming March 4th. Tickets are steep but include free admission to Leon on Feb 27th
