What a great Friday!

Who said anything about books? More assumptions, except they aren't mine.

I treasure them, as you should know from my posts, which you obviously read and reflect on in great detail.

90% of the items in that photo are books. Is it soul-destroying for Jenny to get some furniture to store them efficiently?

Actually, I will side with Jenny and agree that Ikea has some amazing storage solutions. I was lucky to get their Galant desk setup for my home office back in 2009 before they discontinued the line... it is modular and I would've spent a shit ton more to get the setup I have (and sized perfectly too!)

This weekend I put my monitors on LCD stands and it frees up so much desk space. These $40 CAD mounts are remarkably well built and I'm amazed at the quality. Recommended! (http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00YJEQ83G])

In terms of spending $ on experiences vs things -- it is all about a balance. I'd rather take a bunch of trips a year than pull my investments to drive around in a fancy new car. I still drive my first car and it is in pristine condition ...mind you, that happens after you've practically replaced every major body panel and the engine.

For our specific need for that room, I don't know where else we could have found a storage solution that would fit the odd dimensions of the room without getting rid of the existing TV Stand, and also have the same option to modify with drawers and doors. Ikea is the shit for stuff like that for sure.

Rann and Clooney are the kings of material snobbism here. I don't think anyone else holds a candle to them.

That kind of behavior has always existed here. No matter the subject someone will inevitably feel the need to point out that they or their tastes are better than yours.

I'm not ragging at Jenny at all. I really dislike Ikea. (save some the dirty food stuff they sell i can't find anywhere else here, as well as cheap kitchware you can toss after 6 months and not feel guilty)

Living where I am, I can guarantee I buy more cheap shit than anyone here.


My life is far from luxurious, but splurging on certain luxuries make life bearable.

Food is probably the thing i throw away most now. Luxury or not, nigga gotta eat.

A beej is only 20 bucks here.

I think pragmatism really applies to spending money on stuff.

I spend "good" money on stuff I use for work that improves the experience, and I also spend money on stuff I use every day like my e-cig and stuff (I buy a high quality liquid because it doesn't destroy my coils or clog up my tank).

I also invested in a decent TV last year because for the first time in my life I find myself enjoying a lot of movies and tv shows where previously I only watched like 2 shows, and rarely watched movies.

I spend a lot on food, reluctantly, but I think that's because I'm learning to cook so I can eat healthier and avoid all the salt that comes in pre-made stuff. Also food here is at an outrageous price right now thanks to the Canadian dollar only being worth 70 cents on the American.

Some stuff I go completely cheap mode on though and probably shouldn't. I have a cheap oven, the shittiest fuckin' toaster in the world and my furniture fuckin' blows, but since I'm not dating right now I don't really care about impressing anyone with my bachelor pad.

Next big purchase is glasses though, because I have to throw my reading glasses the fuck out as they were cheap when I bought them and have had them way too long and after about 2 hours of wearing them my vision feels like I drank 80 beers.
