) but this one was a real shocker. Not even one with good operational experience! He did his platoon leader time at Guantanamo of all places, and was a civil-military officer and instructor in Iraq and Afghanistan. Just about every vet or active duty or reserve buddy I know has more experience than this guy. I'm so glad I got out of the Army last year after ~16 years. What a shitshow.

I just decided to call it. I was in the Reserve by that point and had about 5 years total left (had one non retirement qualifying year), but part-time was starting to feel a lot like full time. My unit was starting to send people to Europe for Ukraine support, and mideast rotations were still going strong. I did a year in Iraq way back and didn't want to repeat the experience.
I knew some demotivated guys who were just counting down to that retirement. They really do keep a lot of people in that way (even with the new "blended" retirement system where you don't have to stay in for 20).
Yeah you get it. I don't know anyone who comes out of the military unscathed. I'm glad I did it overall but I'm trying to get to the "I forgot I did that" phase.
Oil & gas CEO for energy? This just feels like trolling now.
Not sure if any of you guys watch UFC but Trump has made many appearances, including this past weekends event. I thought about it this morning and it reminded me of a Roman emperor coming to watch gladiatorial games at the colosseum. Fighters and fans coming to praise the almighty one. I really enjoy watching the UFC fights but man, these appearances by him are making me less of a fan of the sport/show.
I saw a picture of him there with Elon and I thought it was some AI nonsense.
Time to go see Gladiator II I guess.
