I'm totally down, name the time and place! If you or anyone are at all interested in a UW area party - a girl I know manages a ball room in a hotel on the ave. She can get us a good price Holds about 250-300 I think.

Posted by KoreanDJ on Feb-05-2003 23:31:

250-300? wow I know i could bring atleast 100 people.

but that is okay if you wanna partner up with someone else. i'll just find me another Sasha

lmao

okay..hmm.....damm. DJ Annubis you've got a Pm coming your way for the demo cd. looking forward to it....

and ill explain why his set at Blyss was sorry... three things really:

1) No CD changers... he couldnt use his some of his own remixes, which are/were only on CD... therefor, you only got straight vinyl... shouldnt be a bad thing, but when you consider how much remixing/producing he does, you lose the true PVD essence of sound...

2) Speed...People complained he was on the rather "slow" side... well, thats what happens when you put Federal before him, and Chris Lawrence after him... PVD spun-off of Federal, and because of Federal's speed, it takes a 4-5 songs (if you want to make it not so noticeable) to get to PVD's normal speed of 145-147bpm... BUT, because Chris Lawrence was playing after him, he had to bring the speed back down... what they (Audiorise) should have done was have PVD go last, after CL and BT

3) Set-up... you would have thought that Audiorise learned something from throwing Crescent... that sound system and setup SUCKED ASS!!!

so basically, take those three things into consideration, and yeah, id say he would lack some enthusiasm... but then again, when does PVD ever look excited... his stare still creeps me out...

his showbox set, which was on my birthday weekend, i thought would be the best set id ever see him do... then i saw his now "special set" (as he describes in DJ Mag) that he did in Tokyo during the Worldcup Final... 4.5 hours, i think he played every song he had, they (the club) let him play till whenever... and he actually got into it with the crowd... not as good as say Donald Glaude or Yoji Biomehanika would do, but better then he usually does... of course im sure he went back home pissed that Germany lost though... that night, someone had a custom made Team Germany Jersey with "Paul van Dyk" enscribed, i have a picture if anyone wants to see...

werd, gettin scary thoughts of what ill do to myself on that floor, and youve seen how i dance... i hope its at Showbox, and 21+...

wow... my first post on this thing, and im a "tranceaddict in training" whoo hoo!!! what if i dont want to be a "tranceaddict"?

Dude, I thought PVD plays that fast too, but it's not true, he plays at 144 BPM.....and then maybe at the end he goes up to 146 BPM. I know this for a fact.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT NEWS: EVERYBODY SHOULD READ THIS!!!!

Ok, I was talking to the promoter from Flow last night, and he said the reason why PVD took seattle set off of his website is because that they are still negociating. lol. Is he doesn't come to Seattle, I'm gonna go to B.C. for sure!!!!!

if youre basing this off his livesets that you can download, what you said is true... however, typically when he spins off of other DJs, he ends up getting to sometimes even 148-149... usually livesets record while he's in the middle of his sets, so you never really get to hear him reach those speeds... his Cream set, only showed him reaching 144... when i saw him in december, he spun off of a daymn bedrock DJ, and you know how friggin slow they are... it was cool though, got to hear a side of PVD you dont hear too often, his more progressive side... took him like 7 songs to get up to speed... by the end of his 3-4 hour set, he was going so fast, i couldnt keep up... one hour sets, he never gets that fast, mainly because someone will spin off of him... guess you could say his speed is based more on how long his set is, and if someone is going after him

Posted by MrMiyagi on Feb-07-2003 02:10:

oh, to note, PAMDJS.com arent listing any of his dates between the 11th and 17th... so none of them may be confirmed yet, and theyre the ones handling the tour

You are right on that one, but I have never had the chance to listen to pvd's 3 hour sets. Max was like 2 hour set.

Posted by MrMiyagi on Feb-07-2003 13:59:

at clubs, if its just him as the special guest, he usually goes for 3+ hours... festivals, he's limited... at Showbox, he would have gone longer, and i think he wanted to... when the security guard came up to him and told him he had 5 min left, he gave this real sinister "wtf you say?" look... it was funny

Posted by KoreanDJ on Feb-07-2003 18:15:

PVD wont be coming to seattle. hahahaha.....im sorry for those of you who are under 19. IM HEADING UP TO VACOUVER B.C WITH JM!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS GOING TO BE MY FIRST TIME SEEING PVD IN PERSON!!!!
