Se funk_e1's exelent link: http://www.regeert.nl/cuesheet/, there you'll find cue-sheets.
You can edit o them by just change the format to .txt (don't forget to change back when you are done)

The beautiful thing about CDR-Win is you don't have to. It reconizes the mp3 and the cuesheet as mp3 but converts to wave while it burns. There is no need.

MP3 Cue

ok. so I've read through this whole thread, and i have a couple questions:

i have an mp3 player in my car, and in the queue files in this thread, i see the word AUDIO. i assume this is because it's being burned in audio format. what if i am burning a data cd of MP3s? can i just change AUDIO to DATA? or will this not work?

also, where does this cue file come from? is it created somewhere, and i am to edit the file? or do i create it in notepad, and save it with a .cue extension?

p.s. i use musicmatch to burn, but i also have nero...

As far as I know mp3 players don't support cue files. The cue file is like an imagine burnt on the CD to tell the CD player to change tracks and display CD Text flawlessly. CDR-Win was created to burn mp3's to wave on the fly with a cuesheet. I do know for a fact that Winamp does support cues for your PC with a plug in called MP3 Cue ( http://guerillasoft.nstemp.com/mp3cue ). You have to have Winamp 2.91 or lower for it to work. Winamp 3 does not work with MP3 Cue. Give it a try and you'll love it! The cuesheet will be displayed below showing the text while playing from the source file, the MP3 in one long track. Another bonus is you can see the cuesheet text so that if you made an error you can fix the cuesheet in notepad before you burn the CD.

Yes unfortuneately most recorders don't support CDR-Win because the technoligy is so new. Honestly get a burner that is compatiple. Mine is an LG 32x's and it was like 50 bucks. It's so worth it!!

Posted by cornelius on Sep-30-2003 12:16:

ok question!

lets say i have a tracklist,example:

[000:00].01- Artist - Title [Mix name]
[005:30].02- Artist - Title [Mix name]
[011:00].03- Artist - Title [Mix name]

is there a program/script that can take the colored data from the above tracklist and print me out a cue sheet such as:

PERFORMER "Artist"
TITLE "Liveset"
FILE "Liveset.mp3" MP3

TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "01- Artist - Title [Mix name]"
INDEX 01 000:00:00

TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE "02- Artist - Title [Mix name]"
INDEX 01 005:30:00

TRACK 03 AUDIO
TITLE "03- Artist - Title [Mix name]"
INDEX 01 011:00:00

if theres anybody whoose good at programing this would be dead handy

hey,

this might be a stupid question, but I dont know much about CUE files....so I will ask anyway since thats the way I'll learn...

Is there a way to find out at what time a track ends and starts?
(i.e. the index of a track) or is this just done by ear?

Thanks

Posted by cornelius on Oct-03-2003 09:52:

its done by the ear mate, it anint that hard most of the time, just listen for wen the dj drops the beat.plus in cool edit SHIFT+] will snap the tracker to the beat peak makin for some flawless cutting

Hey,

has anyone been able to figure out what to do with a set to a MD?
do you have to use a proggy like musicutter first to split up the set?

Posted by 303 on Nov-06-2003 01:52:

there are 2 ways of doing this,

cut up the file using musicutter or a similar program. burn as you do w/ any other musicfiles.

or

burn the .cue in nero using nerodrive. this will create an image (wav) which you mount and then just transfer in eg simple burner as if you had a cd in your cd-player.

I keep on getting an error message whenever I try using .cue files. It says something like use a large enough disk, or disk doesn't have enough space.

Can anyone help?

i would guess that whatever drive (c:/) ? your using as temp directory for nero or any other burning application hasnt got enough space to store the converted mp3 files (wav). either clean up or change drive for your burning application to store its temp files on.

How do I change the directory?

Posted by U121 on Nov-20-2003 19:12:

uhm, have made a cuefile, have installed cdrwin, but cant fuggin figure out how to burn the damn thing >_<

what i can tell there isnt anything wrong with my cuefile, but if anyone should feel like taking a look, please do =)
i would appreciate it if someone wrote a step by step tutorial on how to use the cue and the file in cdrwin
cuefile goes like this
quote:
PERFORMER "Scul"
TITLE "Hardstyle mix #21"
FILE "sculHS21.mp3" MP3
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "01 - Bossdrum - Beat is Pumpin (Essential DJ Team remix)"
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE "02 - Armani & Ghost - Airport (Essential DJ Team remix)"
INDEX 01 06:52:73
TRACK 03 AUDIO
TITLE "03 - Meteor Seven - Universal Music (DJ Scot Project remix)"
INDEX 01 13:39:06
TRACK 04 AUDIO
TITLE "04 - Jay Frog - Pushin (Hennes & Cold remix)"
INDEX 01 19:19:42
TRACK 05 AUDIO

INDEX 01 62:27:12
TRACK 12 AUDIO
TITLE "12 - Dark Oscillators - Nasty Jungle (Hardstyle Masterz remix)"
INDEX 01 68:51:04

Posted by funk_e1 on Nov-20-2003 19:25:

Try This

Make sure the MP3 file name is the same as the cuesheet header & in the same folder as the mp3.........

Example: MP3: Hardstyle Mix Vol. 21 - Mixed by DJ Scul.mp3

Cuesheet: PERFORMER "Hardstyle Mix Vol. 21 - Mixed by DJ Scul"
TITLE "Hardstyle Mix Vol. 21 - Mixed by DJ Scul"
FILE "Hardstyle Mix Vol. 21 - Mixed by DJ Scul.mp3" MP3

*Try not to use symbols in your cuesheets like # & "" etc. it will screw things up.

Posted by U121 on Nov-20-2003 19:30:

ok, well, i burned that image using Nero instead, loaded the.cue file as an image and then just fired away, only, the songstarts are all screwed up, some too early, some too late, alltho i spent almost two hours in cool edit pro and made sure they were exactly at the frame i wanted them... why might this be?

is it because as some have said, nero sux as it comes to cue:ing ?

Posted by U121 on Nov-20-2003 19:38:

oooookay, now this is even more fucked up (youll have to excuse my language, this is getting annoying) when i cut and paste the cue numbers into cool edit now, the cues are the way they were on the CD >_<

i think ill try again, and perhaps ill get it right this time

Posted by funk_e1 on Nov-20-2003 19:53:

Notepad Is Your Friend

No need to ever use cool edit just plain old Notepad to edit the cues. I also use Winamp 2.91 and MP3 Cue plug in to see where the song will start the cut. It allows you to play the full MP3 but see the cuesheet below. MP3 Cue is here. www.guerillasoft.nstemp.com/mp3cue . Get CDR-Win of Golden Hawk. There is some faker one out there like it that sucks. I'm not a fan of Nero simply because it is not user friendly at all. Hope this helps.

Posted by U121 on Nov-20-2003 20:14:

nonono... im using cool edit to listen to the song and determine where the cuepoints should be, but now it seems im gettin it right, ill remake the cuefile with the new values and ill post later on about if it worked or not

Posted by U121 on Nov-20-2003 21:23:

woot!
i made it!
so heres a tutorial for making MP3 livesets with cuefiles work with Nero!

first: get Cool edit, set time format to compact disc (75 fps)
play your file and when the file comes to a place where youd like to make the song transition, pause tha playback, zoom in, and just left click in the spektrum where you think will be a good place.
click play, this way youll hear if its too early or late, then adjust to how you like it, when you like the position, look at the display in the lower right corner, the "sel" should only display a start value, take this value this is you first cue!

make a cuefile in the format below (this is the one i got)
quote:
PERFORMER "Scul"
TITLE "Hardstyle mix #21"
FILE "SculHS21.mp3" MP3
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "01 - Bossdrum - Beat is Pumpin (Essential DJ Team remix)"
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE "02 - Armani & Ghost - Airport (Essential DJ Team remix)"
INDEX 00 06:59:57
INDEX 01 07:01:57
TRACK 03 AUDIO
TITLE "03 - Meteor Seven - Universal Music (DJ Scot Project remix)"
INDEX 00 13:32:69
INDEX 01 13:34:69
TRACK 04 AUDIO
TITLE "04 - Jay Frog - Pushin (Hennes & Cold remix)"
INDEX 00 12:13:25
INDEX 01 19:15:25
TRACK 05 AUDIO
TITLE "05 - Arome - Hands up! (DJ Scot Project remix)"
INDEX 00 26:15:50
INDEX 01 26:17:50
TRACK 06 AUDIO
TITLE "06 - Hypetraxx - Paranoid (DJ Scot Project remix)"
INDEX 00 32:20:40
INDEX 01 32:22:40
TRACK 07 AUDIO
TITLE "07 - Arome - Visions of Paradise (DJ Scot Project remix)"
INDEX 00 38:12:17
INDEX 01 38:24:17
TRACK 08 AUDIO
TITLE "08 - Analogic Disturbance - Breathing Space"
INDEX 00 45:20:36
INDEX 01 45:22:36
TRACK 09 AUDIO
TITLE "09 - Le Brisc - Keep Up (Sam Punk remix)"
INDEX 00 50:36:36
INDEX 01 50:38:36
TRACK 10 AUDIO
TITLE "10 - Smurref - Sonic Storm"
INDEX 00 56:53:70
INDEX 01 56:55:70
TRACK 11 AUDIO
TITLE "11 - SOB Creators - Hardfloor"
INDEX 00 63:04:60
INDEX 01 63:06:60
TRACK 12 AUDIO
TITLE "12 - Dark Oscillators - Nasty Jungle (Hardstyle Masterz remix)"
INDEX 00 68:44:43
INDEX 01 68:46:43

where the INDEX 01 values are the values you got by cool edit, and the INDEX 00 values are two secs lower than the 01 ones.
start nero, select burn image on the file menu, select your cuefile, click ok and wait until it is done working, click burn and voila!

and when opening the file with cool edit, dont do my mistake and start a project in cool edit then import the file, but just plain old open the mp3 with cool edit (shift + right click, open with)

Alright, so I read through here and still looking for the best answer. When you have a 3 hour mp3 and a 3 hour cue sheet, what is the easiest way to burn 3 cds? Split into seperate mp3s, or manually create 3 cue files and 3 mp3s? Can any burning software just burn the middle or end portion of a long mp3 without having to cut it up?

Posted by ryn on Dec-15-2003 04:12:

apparently cuemaster 1.6 should make you a perfect cue sheet every time (from what my source says). but my problem is that it doesn't work for anything I have, what's the deal? does anybody else use cuemaster?
edit: by the way, i've found that if you have a cue sheet for you specific mp3 or wav or whatever you can put your one file on nero and simply right click the track, click properties, go to the oscilloscope thing, make the right number of splits and edit all your splits to be at the right frames. it takes a bit longer than simply loading a cue sheet and burning it but it works.

Posted by technoman on Dec-18-2003 01:57:

Cue file

I am able to use the cue file effectively.

After i have burned my tracks to cd though, there is still a spilt econd pause between tracks.

Does anyone know how i can eliminate that?

Thanks

Posted by goonerjack on Jan-17-2004 13:13:

Technoman, you need two index numbers under the track, 00 and 01. 01 is where the new track starts and 00 is exactly 2 seconds before that. This allows the CD player to continue playing whilst changing tracks.
