Hey, I'm not a fan of any of the djs that spun and none of them blew me away but I had fun because i've never been to such a huge 'trance' (or was it hardstyle) party. In fact, I've never been to such a big party at all because i come from a continent which doesn't really appreciate any dance music. So I was more than happy |

Just heard all the sets and it was bad indeed... except for Kai of course !
I think u can't compare with Asot (never know why people love this show), because it's really soft, it's good for a listening @ home but not @ a party...
i also want to say something about "old" tracks being spined.
guys it's at 10th edition anversary.
when joo spined signum - solar level i went mad
i think some of the djes realised that it was the 10th time (duh) so they prepared there set woth some good old wannes
i still think trance energy was great i had a great time and a lot of people had if you look at the great atmosphere.
i think its about how it sounds over there in real life and not on the radio. the event is about the everything around it such as lighting and the music and not for some guys at home with a radio, they are not paying 40 euros
i pay for everything on that event such as atmosphere lighting and music and don't forget: a great night out.and it was worth it, i had a very great time over there.
greetz
You can all say what you want, but to see more than 10.000 ppl go out of their mind because some track is just bliss
How Come?
From what I realize here is that the ppl that weren't there didn't like it because of it lack of tune selection and mixing skills and from those who were there they did love it!
And I was there and enjoyed every second!!! The style has changed a bitt over the years but that's just natural... Everything has a evolutution, even TE!
We started off with some of Cor's tunes and he was pretty najz but it was still pretty little ppl that had showed up that early...
Then we heard some of Jean and as usual he kinda "plays" rather than mixes the tunes and that is really funny! But it was REALLY fukked up mixing out "Pocket Damage" just when it's gonna get started to "Dark Monks"... REALLY BAD!!!
But then Tomcraft made me realize how good he is off the variety of tunes!!! Does anyone agree? I mean from pounding out techno stuff right into "Plastic Boy - Silver Bath" That was sooooo COOL!!! You just have to be there to realize!!! Tomcraft spun the best set I've ever been to judging on the atmoshpere because of his variety! Not from trscklist perspective though... Must say that the best point of the evening was when he throwed out "Zombie Nation"!!! WOOOOOOOOT!!!
Cygnus X was nothing to see at all, but kinda cool...
Kai Tracid smashed out a lovely HARD set!!!
Gielen was ok... Better last year... But some really lovely tunes and moments... Cosmic Gate was also ok but also better last year... Maybe too many melodic tunes there for a while... It was cool when they fooled everyone on "The Truth" also :P
So what I think is that this party was "DA BOMB"!!! Had sooooooo fun!!!
I think of it every second of the day now!!! Longing baaaaaack!!!
BTW...
I was on TE in Jaarbeurs last year and on Mystery Land also last year so I have something to compare with...
I came all the long way from Sweden just for Trance Energy.... this was my first really big party and I had SO MUCH FUN !!! I really enjoyed all the DJs I saw which was
Cor Fijneman
Tomcraft
Kai Tracid
Johan Gielen
Cosmic Gate
Cygnus X was a dissapointment though... Ok, I love their tunes but it was deffenetly not "live"
Afterwards the whole party I was SO tired in my legs... Danced from 22 to 7 in the morning... and did it without any drugs... I get in trance and I can dance the whole night anyway...
I also had my video camera inside so I have over 2 hours of film that I will realese when its been edited
For thoose who wasnt even there, dont complain at the party. If you would have been there you would have enjoyed it as much as I did. I say you dont know what you missed... I heard that Marcel Woods was reallt great too...
Next time miss_proximus have to join the swedish TA crew to the party but it was very fun meeting up with you in Utrecht
hugs to you
and BTW... I saw some of Joop when he played.... he got really good response
Take Care All... c-ya / Steve

some of you are real cool - sit at home and bitch and complain about sets - get a life - seriously - imagine being there - it would have been wikkid
word, all the non moany people
TURNOUT
How many people were at this event?
How does this turnout compare to past events?
Can anyone answer this for me?
2.3 million was this trance energy it has been almost double that last year and the year before
45,000 people i think
Just heard the set.
Cygnus X: Only own singles in trackselection, average mixing. Not bad, not good. 6/10.
Cosmic Gate: Above average trackselection, fair mixing BUT double trainwreck
Would have expected better. 6/10
DJ Joop: Nice tracks, okay mixing. Did pretty good for a "up-commer" (read: not-as-known-as-the-other-liveacts-spinning). 7/10
Johan Gielen: Started of kicking major butt in every direction, but then lost his flair throughout his set. Going from first track "Greece 2000 (G&M mix)" to last track "RHCP - By the way" is a looong way down
7/10
Tomcraft: Now what the hell is this. Okay selection, but he his transitions are VERY poor... Throw him of the stage and get Kai Tracid up there instead..
4/10
i finally listened to the tomcraft liveset, which i have only half of for some unknown reason... my god, what was he thinking? lol, playing kernkraft 400, ffs! wtf was that all about? and some of the transitions left me in the "wtf was that?" state. i think he had fun with it though. either that or he didn't try at all and was bored.
p.s. i kinda like the set, it's rather energetic, although the mixing could be better. it would've been wicked to be there and hear it on a huge sound system with 44,999 other people around you
especially during tracks like these i would've wanted to be there for!
11. Daft Punk--Rollin & Scratchin' (sounds similar to DJ Marko Milano - Stopp & Go; both sound wicked at high volume)
15. Electrochemie LK - Schall (mint bass!)
16. DJ Tomcraft - Prozac (i would've gone nuts and pissed my pants, especially if he played the Tony H Yeah remix, which he should've done, although the original is good too)
19. Sharpside--Wave Cruising (one of my favs)

Don't say I didn't warn you...

I went over to Holland for Trance Energy in Feb 2002 and had a great time. Though I have to admit it was lacking in some areas. The presentation of the party was great; venue was top notch, the rooms were nicely decorated, there was lots to do, lasers/lights were spot on. And Rank 1's live show (which was soooo much more than just the music) was stunning. I think the lineup was pretty poor though, and in general the DJ sets weren't anything amazing. Also the crowd didn't seem as "up for it" as I'm used to from UK events; very reserved and more concerned with how they looked than with having a good time.
I think the Dutch Trance scene is suffering from over-exposure at the moment. They've obviously been huge in the past but the dreaded commercialisation is setting in (as it is in the UK, I think they're just a year or so in front as far as this is concerned) and the people that go to these events just don't expect the same as we'd like. They're happy with the cheesy anthem-after-anthem routines and familier tunes.
Please don't think this is Dutch bashing, as I said I think it's starting to happen over here too. I just don't think the Dutch trance scene has as much to offer as it did 2-3 years ago.
It was my 5th trance energy.
and I had nothing to complain about..
ok.. old tracks?, SO WHAT!
ok.. sometimes not great mixing? SO WHAT! (HE is standing up there and unfortunately not me)
I went there to have a good time,to go nuts! and not to hear only good/new/exclusive tracks..
And I had a good time, danced a lot.. disappointed it ended so soon at 07:15
i believe at least 10000 people agree with me
