alright here we go...
First off, I have listened to rap for a very long time, unfortunately over that period of time it has declined in quality...there is no comparison between fucking "bling bling" and any song by Tribe, "old school" rap is cool..the new stuff is, fluff in my opinion, rappin about bitches and cars is weak..sorry bobb0..its just weak. When u can't think of anything else to talk about then u can always resort to "dubs" on ur car and shit but its all too shallow for me. I'm from Mount vernon, home of puffy, heavy d, and pete rock and cl smooth, and i have heard more rap than most of you, it gets played especially when R&B uses the same samples but slowed down..thats why i got sick of it..in addition to that I wanted to listen to music that was more interesting...rap is played out to me and i personally didn't like the direction it was headed, as for the old school rap...i will always like it, but if i go to a club there is no doubt in my mind that i would rather hear trance than hip-hop...
Mizzz
/\/\/\Finally an educated statement!!!!/\/\/\/\
Lil bow wow is my favorite "artists" to puke on!
So.............bduiqwfglabluihv and so on......

anscoop your a fool
the majority of people listen to rap may be white urban kids .. ok but is 90% right? no sir maybe 25? what bout the millions of black people who listen to rap (ive met very few black people who dont listen to rap, lots less then white people)
2nd of all im done with this thread .. most of the people bashing rap and coming up with nonsense, like 90% of rap sales are to white urban kids, is a moron. Most of the haters seem to be from uk/canada/ other countries .. why? cuz other forms or music are more popular over there and across the world.
how many chinese people u know can understand the slang most rap songs use .. i bet even the mighty anscoop cant translate this phrase for me
me and big boi pulled up into the club crump as a mug .. fiendin for the fire green .. peeped some cluckas, damn they needed to holla at lil woodee for his oscar meyer ya heard me......
most rap is sold in america right? how many americans do you know? i know ALOT more then you buddy
someone was right earlier when they said rapers often tell stories about themselves .. how can u enjoy the story if u cant understand the words .. and some urban white kids can relate to alot of the things they say
Ok, this forum is either filled with little kids, or young adults that I might as well call little kids.
This is a waste of my time, but hopefully you'll learn a lesson.
b0bb0, learn to capitalize I and the first letter in the begining of a sentance. School is good for you, if you didn't know, I suggest you start in about 4th Grade, they teach you how to use grammar and other nifty rules.

hmm...
if u dont like hip hop..dont listen to it..simple as that....some people are being ignorant about hip hop..there are some good stuff out there... generalization isnt good...its just like how the general public looks at our trance and electronic music genre as all being like zombie nation or any of that crap...

| i pesonally believe this is something to be proud of... so conform all you want because i enjoy having my own opinion. |

Anscoop just needs to find something else to argue like grammer because he has no facts to base his point of view on..........
oops there's those dots again............oops..........
You're nothing but a Troll, "Trance Outlaw".
There's very little facts you can base this discussion on, but if you're referring to the Demographics of RAP Listeners, then I urge you to prove otherwise if you hold all the answers.
dude you are sooooooooooo lucky that my post on this matter was erased.. TWICE... or your ignorance wouldve been made plainly obvious to you.

Yevat those are not the lyrics to that Dr Dre song.. it goes like this:
i just took some exstasty
aint no telling what the side affects could be
dont be quoting shit that isnt right.
anscoop, so you got facts.. well here i got some opinions for you that have more meaning than your facts:
there is no way it is possible for 90% of the people who listen to rap are white. EVERY black person i know listens to rap... and until you prove your statement, which you cant, i will assume my opinion is fact and yours is not.
racism only works one way??? how the hell is that when whites hating on blacks is what breeded racism.. and tommy hilfiger stated that he did not make his products for black people to use them and black people still buy his shit... so fucking what?! i think its the black people who should be ashamed by what laured hill said and the whites that should be ashamed by tommy hilfiger.
as for eminem accepting that grammy. that is not saying that his lyrics are serious and that he means everything he says.. comedy is a serious art form. it is not easy. and people should be awarded for giving us some laughs in this way to serious life. i think eminem was basically sayin fuck you to all you people who have an opinion on him taking that grammy.
and how can you tell someone they dont know shit about what is being rapped about.. just because one has not experienced something for themselves does not mean they can not understand it.. because i have seen the fucked up shit that goes on in this world i can understand where rap is coming from. i didnt have to experience it.. i am aware of what goes on w/ out experience.. thats called knowledge.
you want to know what skill you can learn from the streets? its called street smarts, common sense. and its way more important to have that than book smarts. your ignorant opinions are just the same as anyone elses.
you dont know shit about rap and nor the black community so you can take your FACTS and put them where they came from.. your ass.. cause you are just as ignorant as you are trying to make everyone else look.
i cant wait for you to quote me so i can get some of the same enjoyment from you that i get from eminem.. good laughs... cept i would never think about paying you for it.
the eyeofthedarkness, what you are saying doesn't make much sense. For example,

First, you are assuming black persons you know are representative of all black people. In order to infer something about all blacks based on observation from a small group of people, people in the group have to be ramdomly selected. Otherwise, you have a biased sample, and your inference is not valid. I doubt black persons you know are randomly chosen. Secondly, even if 100% of black people listen to rap, the racial composition of all rap listeners also depends on the racial composition of the population and on the percentage of white rap listeners within the whites. |

actually i know the only two things someone could argue about in my post... #1 that there is a way that is possible for 90% of rap listeners to be white. and yes it is possible but thats not how it is. and #2 that anscoop does know something about rap and the black community... which i dont care cause he doesnt act like it.
someone would call me on that just because i said try to call me on something and there is nothing else for them to use.
Besides, all the drivel which I will consider it as such because in order to have a conversation, a degree of respect must exists. Since you have not offered that, even though I have not had any discussions with you before this to warrant otherwise, you won't get the privilidge of my direct response.
However, assumptions are self-destructing in any way shape or form, first of all, you haven't proven that 90% of people that buy RAP albums aren't white males. Since I work in the Music Industry and have access to the demographics information for a lot of genres and you don't, you're fighting an uphill battle to prove otherwise, although you can simply dismiss it and continue on in ignorance.
This has nothing to do with the Black community directly, and my experience with RAP music is irrelevant; If I spoke in slang, using ebonics, and had little or no regard for the form of English, would that have made it seem like I have a vast experience in this topic? You're using an assumption, to form your opinion, which is futile.
The only issue that's open to interpretation is whether RAP is a valid form of art, to which I made my point of view known, and provided some facts which I held in my possesion to possibly support my view.
Nowhere, did I say RAP music is 'bad' or ridiculed it, I simply questioned it's validity and it's artistic merit.
Furthermore, your personal attacks were uncalled for, and just plain common.
FYI- streetwise=possessing the skills and attitudes necessary to survive in an often violent urban environment
common sense=sound and prudent but often unsophisticated judgment
streetwise!=common sense, maybe in your head they do, but in the place where our society decides to explain the words we use, called the Dictionary does not agree to you even though it doesn't have an opinion.
The type of life experience "rappers" acquire from living on the streets, is not something to be rather proud of or commended, you need only to study these characters to see they did not pick up anything worth assimilating on the streets.
For me, this discussion isn't about RAP Sucks vs. RAP is Awesome, as you so continuously try to portray it, it's about its value as an ART form, and emotions, personal grudges have nothing to do with it.
Of course, I don't expect you to have the presence of mind to understand that, but one can only hope.
is there gonna be a fight?
