Well, LP has dozens of DJs and it's free. Few people come there because of 1 DJ in particular.

Tiesto's concert will ONLY feature DJ Tiesto. No other DJ has ever gathered that many people before. At least not as far as I know.

i no i cant back this up, but i would make a safe bet that more than 25000 out of those 1 million wouldnt be there if it wasnt for paul van dyk... and if u take a look in some of the organisation threads for the loveparade, the total expenses for food, accomodation etc. come to a lot more than ur average visit to a club... But the point i was making is that just coz tiesto can drag in 25000 people doesnt mean he is a good DJ. It means he is popular. Im sure if u stuck Armin or Ferry in the same venue they'd also easily pull in the numbers. Tiesto plays good tunes, and im sure u dont need telling that playing good tunes makes u a good DJ. u hav to be able to mix them together to be a good DJ, and that is something he cant do.

they are both good...one better sometimes then the other

I am just getting sick of al those Tiesto bashers around here, maybe I got a bit frustrated but I have seen zillions of Tiesto bashing threads the last year!

But okay as you wish I won't post in this thread anymore

Oh and maybe you shouldn't take my words(like Bitch) too seriously and if you do, please expect my apology

Tiesto is still one of the best dj's for me. I still like his mixing qualities and his track selection but i have to agree with some of you that it's not all 100%. But he is not a robot, he is human and can make mistakes. Take for example bono from U2. He also sometimes hits a bad note and everybody noticed it but they forget it thue to the fact that the evironment is great.

That is great about Tiesto, he playes with the croud. But I have to say that I haven't seen him live since 02-02-2002. Then he just blew me away.

But i also had to learn to appreciate the new sound, but it got to me.

But again i point out that I haven't seen him live in a long time, only heard sets on internet

I will see what Tiesto in concert brings...that will make up my opinion

no offense mate, but have you actually seen him play live?

and im sorry, but i really dont know what your getting at about gatecrasher. But one thing i DO know, is that over the last year and a half, tiesto wasnt pulling in crowds like he is now, before he got voted number 1 DJ

No I havnt seen him live (Im just 16 and he never played in germany) but I jugde from what people are telling me....
and yeah that you dont understand that gatecrasher thing is because of my shitty english
I give it up!

One last try
It is clear that Tiesto is not only a Trance DJ.. But Gatecrasher is a Trance Club... So why did they make him spin there?! Why bash Tiesto for not spinning Trance @ Gatecrasher? I dont think he needs to change his style for every club!!!

Posted by dj_mdma on Mar-03-2003 15:10:

ok my opinion.

1) Freefall, come to the UK FORUM, me and Niteshayde went down there and we've been to Heaven for GC a few times before! The London TA community needs to meet up

On any case, the club is quite crowded, especailly when a big DJ comes in. It was even worse when PvD came back in 2002, and i could barely move! And he didn't play good stuff hehe

As for Tiesto, well this is the 3rd time I've seen him play in the past year, and the feeling is odd. He doesn't particularly dissapoint me, but neither does he make me particularly happy. I mean, its great i enjoyed the night, the tunes were fine, and the atmosphere was ok (bar the sweaty fat men who have the urge to take off there bloody shirts )

His mixing was fine, and he read the crowd quite well i think, as he didn't play "TUNE" after "Tune" but let the euphoria of the crowd fade a bit before putting on something more banging. Some of his stuff was a bit more proggy/teky, but everyone knows he has changed his style now, so what more do u expect?

We didn't get to see much of Hardwick, but i think he was playing some more House orientated stuff?!! And when halliwell came on he started off on some hard stuff (dunno any of the first few tunes he played), but then moved on to more uplifiting/epic stuff like Solarcoaster and Beautiful Together! Not that i'm complaining of course, but i expected him to play some REAL hard stuff and do scratching as well, but i was pleasantly surprised!

Either way, i'm probably going back there to see Ferry and Nu-NRG. I hope they don't play the same stuff at GC that they did at Love PArade!

Freefall, get your arse in the UK Forum!

WTF was Tiesto playing !? It could only be described as Hard Tek-House. Dark heavy bass all night. Not what you expect from him AT ALL. Luckily Hardwick played the best 2 hour set of uplifting trance I have heard in many a moon to save the day... is Tiesto trying to tell us something ? He finished up with GTR-Mistral, but other than that I thought he was AWFUL. And, as a big fan, thats not something I say lightly ...

Anyone know if Hardwicks sets get listed anywhere on the net ?

Another TA in Bristol..at last...

I was going to go London for this but it was my uni friends birthday on Friday so i had to go out for that instead. But i saw Matt Hardwick at Slinky last week and was pretty impressed and i saw Eddie Halliwell at Slinky this week and he was the best i've ever seen him despite him turning up an hour late

Hopefully i might get my lazy arse down for GC at Heaven next month.

Im not a hardcore Tiesto fan, but I loved his classic sound from the first innercity, and really like the edgier music hes playing now. Its quite refreshing to hear him play some different tunes. The epic anthem sets are tiresome, and Im glad Tiesto isnt afraid to expand his horizons.

I dont know what people want from him. Last year everyone was flaming him for either playing the same tunes. Now he has a whole new set of tunes and people hate it. I guess some people just want to have their cake and eat it too.

Basically, if you dont like what hes playing, just shut the hell up about it and listen to someone else.

Btw, this latest global DJ broadcast set from tiesto is rocking! I will definately be seeing him at ultra now. Good work, Tjis.

someone told me that Tiesto is gonna start spining pure Techno, apparently he is sick of Trance and is going back to the roots, when he spun Techno with Montana

Posted by dj_mdma on Mar-03-2003 22:05:

At least he's not going back to his DEEP roots, playing hardcore and stuff!

I am very open minded when it comes to live events. What makes a DJ good (in my oppinion) is how well he moves the crowd, regardless of what he plays. that being said, I was very dissapointed when i saw Tiesto about 6 months ago. He had always been one of my favorite DJ's, but when I saw him play, nobody was getting into it at all. His mixing was a little sloppy and he only played about 4 or 5 good tunes in 2 1/2 hours. As I said, that wouldn't bother me so much, but it was obvious no one else was having a good time either. After he finished, John Digweed hit the decks. You would nt believe the transformation that took place. The whole crowd just started going nuts, and it only got better and better as the set went on. At first I thought maybe the whole crowd was there to see Digweed, but when I realized that a large percentage where TA's that who came specifically for Tiesto, I was surprised.

Anyways, that's my basis for my current feelings for Tiesto's DJing. I think he needs to get back in touch with the crowd, as well as work on his mixing (which used to be a lot better).

Gatecrasher isn't just trance. We had Picotto in doing 6hr sets every few months last year.
