Most people thought he was using vinyl scratch, but I had suspected some type of real-time, click and drag, loop software.

Either way, it was very interesting, but I don't think I have ever seen a live pa set that had so much of other people's songs.

Peace,
Rich

I didn't really pay much attention, but then again, my guess is he was using Final Scratch (playing songs from his comp on the turntables)... whatever it was, it was good. Plus he was loving it too!

4 pm, in hamilton.

just woke up

what a night. never seen BT before, and i'd definately go see him again

from what i remember he played:

calling your name
dreaming
godspeed

shoudla wrote down the rest when i was sober but hey, at least i remember he kicked ass

Holden - shoulda closed off the night, not Fairy Corsten (sorry but it was too much of a typical corsten set)

after Fairy dropped punk i was outta there. such an annoying song, my friend who didnt know any better liked it. but hey, sometimes the bad thing about taking drugs is that everythign seems better.

shout outs too all new TA's i met last night, and ones i already know (swamper, tatgirl)

and LKD - man i woulda had your back if anything happened with DJ Alligator up front.

EAT THAT WHISTLE BITCH!!!

good time partying with ya Liam.

also met some cute girls from kitchener, don't remember if your from TA or not, but i have your e-mails & #'s still.

SEE YOU ALL AT PICOTTO NEXT/THIS WEEK!!!

LOL. Man, and here i thought only I was pissed that this idiot choose to position himself right in front of the booth with that silly thing in his mouth. Honestly, maybe he was under the impression that DJ's actually enjoy having this annoying addition to the songs that they drop...

Hell, it's better in some aspect to those fools who bring their airhorns into the clubs...those guys should be friggin castrated !!!

PS. If you're reading this WhistleMan, do us all a favor a keep that shit for the parties where they spin HardHouse...that's where it is probably best suited...

Posted by tatgirl on Mar-09-2003 21:12:

I didn't stay up front for his set, but if no one saw him fiddling w/a turntable, he probably didn't use Final Scratch.

Posted by tatgirl on Mar-09-2003 21:18:

There seems to be a posse of whistle blowers at Guv the past few times there, each of them a moronic asshole. Strength in numbers, I guess. If u ask them to quit it, they just blow it in your face more. They are much more annoying than the air horn guys, cuz those people only sound off once or twice, which whistle freaks will toot all nite long.....

Whistles are SO 10 years ago!

Last night

Last night was great, I'm a little disapointed that I didn't come earlier in order to cach Holden's whole set. I ended up walking into Koolhouse at about 3:45am. But the nice suprise was Ferry's set which kept everyone moving the whole morning.

And why would you do something like that...?

Anyway, after a couple of hours of rest, here's a detailed review of the last night:

Me & the crew (my sister, Dj Reza and another crazy Serb) got down around 11:45, noticed that the LCBO parking lot is full, some dude scared us off from that other parking lot across the LCBO one, so we gave in and went for the Guv parking lots... now that took us another 10 mins, since there was a huge lineup at the parking lots too (it's like the whole city wants to be in this place on the Sat. night).

Well, luckily we didn't wait one sec in that humongous lineup outside (thanks to the VIP treatment), so we got in through Charlies, and shortly found out that the access to GUV/KH from there was not allowed (temporarily)... so we checked out the crowd in Charlies, met a few ladiez (now I know where all the beautiful girls are hiding in that place) and we kept cracking jokes with the bouncer until he actually gave in 5 mins later and let us to the GUV.

Now, leaving our coats was a mission in itself. We went to the KH coat check, the guy tells us it's closed, we go down to the GUV coat check, there's a huge freakin' lineup... so what do we do? Skip the lineup and get rid of our coats in a matter of minutes (get a kiss from the girl in the coatcheck while waiting :stongue.

So we head to GUV to check out the vibe... and after 30 seconds in there we figure out that the music is crap, vibe is non-existant and the place is packed, so we head over to KoolHaus (damn hallways between Guv & KH, they always slow everything down). Anyway, we get to KH and we are just stunned... the beats Addy was throwing at the time were fucken ridiculous! So we're thinking shite, Addy is about to leave since it's 12 already, but no, he stays on for another half an hour or so, throwing down some sick beats! Props to the man... he never dissapoints.

So we're mingling around, meet a whole bunch of crazy serbs (no need to name them all), bunch of other friends, a couple of TAs looking for brunette (for some reason), brunette herself, TranceGeek, Photon_Trance joined the party later on, and a whole bunch of good looking girls throughout the night (Monica, Christy, something, something... too many names and numbers to keep track of).

Ok, so back to the music... BT comes on, throws a couple of damn solid tracks, then goes flat for a while, and then throws another couple of great tracks, and then downhill again. He was pretty hype tho, solid performer with that "Take that, bitches!" attitude.

James Holden's set was a bit boring for my taste (I kept thinking where the hell is Addy when you need him!), but hey, you can't please everybody... I thought he was really all over the place, not much flow. How old is that kid anyway?

By the time Ferry Corsten came on, one of my boys was trippin' out large (well, after the amount of alcohol we had, one of us was bound to trip out), so I had to pay more attention on him than Ferry. But I still noticed he started off real hard, I guess he left the cheese back in the hotel...

Anyway, we figure out that my boy is tripping out more and more every second that he spends in that place (due to the atmosphere/music/loud bass), so we take him outside for some fresh air and... well, anything that happened after that is just totally ridiculous and maybe I will tell that story later on (probably not).

Overall, it was a damn fun night! 'nuff said...

P.S. - Special K, those guys, Manzone & Strong, are indeed a couple of the most underrated DJs in this city... I didn't even know they were spinning last night (wasn't really thinking anyway, because if I was I'd realize they are in the Drink every freakin' Saturday), but I am definitely checking those guys out next time I swing by the GUV.

I've loaded my pics from last night onto the computer, but I need space to host them, unless everybody wants to sign into Imagestation....anyone have space (or ideas)? I've already run out of space on PBase.

Parties like this are what I live for. There was tons of room to dance (similar to Tiesto but not so packed), the music was wicked!! The only annoying thing were the stupid asshole bouncers CONSTANTLY yelling at me from when I first get in the freaking place to the end practically pushing us out the door! Addy was very good later on in his set (beginning was just not really my style but I still had fun during it). Then BT comes on and just drops a few well known tracks of his (mentioned above), plus others mixed into breaks. Holden...what can I say? Fucking HOLDEN! Pure class all the way. Too bad I wasn't there for the pic a few of you took w him. (Damn you all!) lol. Then Corsten comes on...holy shit...WHY does he not spin like that @ Guv?? I think it was the fact that there were other internationally known dj's there for him to play off of also he was finishing up the night. Forced him to play a variety of stuff. In anycase I LOVED IT! Esp all the breaks he dropped, plus that one track after Punk...I forget the name but WOW (PvD has been caning it recently, I think it's a Ferry track). Overall a fun ass night. The people outside of TA that I met up with (my friend Sean) had a wicked night (2nd big party...on to PvD). Also another good buddy of mine and his cousin came as well (he originally wasn't going to but because his cousin was going to go regardless he figured "I can't let him go alone"). I love it when friends who aren't that much into trance start to get into it and can see why we go crazy for it.To all the TAs I met up with you guys are the greatest people to party with!
The people I can remember meeting are:
Lil_kandi_angel and Loconet (I think that's your nick?)
Rj (as usual)
hardcore trancer
Hordash
Firestarter
Ninjapimp
Jojok and her sis (was great seeing you both again)
and tons more TAs I can't remember your names at the moment...too many of you. (maybe for PvD it'll click again lol)
Tara! It was also really cool partying w you for a bit here and there. Nice meeting some of your friends finally.
On to PvD...

Posted by infinity HiGH on Mar-09-2003 22:04:

well, it's my turn for a review. I don't really feel like doing it, but meh...got nothing better to do.

As far as music goes; I enjoyed BT's and Holden's sets the most. Especially when BT dropped Flaming June, lol, i remember telling sooper that he's gonna drop like 5 minutes before he actually did. And when the piano from it finally kicked it, wow, the crowd was in a frenzy. I have no idea what BT was doin with that laptop, but I don't really care. I was lovin it.

When Holden came on, I didn't have the slightest clue of what to expect; needless to say, I loved what I heard and will definately go see him again. Can't believe the ****** is only 21 years old It's just too bad that I was kinda sick and most of my energy was wasted on BT. After that all I wanted to really do is sit down and sleep, heh...

Then Ferry hit the decks...............well, he didn't start off as boring as in October. I was actually enjoying the first 40 minutes or so of it. After that my cold really kicked in and I went to lay down and had a nice convo with joanna.

It was great meeting up with all the TA's again Liam, Chris, Az, Luca, Hordash, Mecha, Armada, Hardcore Trancer...Rabbit Joker...Tatgirl...gah! I know I'm forgetting a couple of people...Oh, and a 2 second run-in into Brunette, lol. Bandit and Muff2k, it was nice chillin with you guys. Finally got to meet some more Polish TA's!! I hope it wasn't the last time I see u guys.

Here's some of the songs that were played that night for all you tracklist whores;
BT played Flaming June, Godspeed, Dreaming and Calling Your Name.
Holden played Christian Smith & John Selway - Move!, Nothing...and um, bah, can't remember any others.

Oh, and can't fucking forget about fucking coat check losing my sweater (good thing they found it and called me today in the afternoon)

9/10

oh and where were the 80+ TA's that were coming to this event?? Feels like there was about 20-30.

actually if you notify them that they might swallow the whistle, (by accident of course) they politely stop for a while, sometimes they get all excited and start blowing again, but you just smack em on the head, and then they're ok again

Helloo..o

It was a bad start to the night, some ppl we came with totally f@#$%& up the beginning of the night.
But u gotta make the best out of a party that you've been looking forward to for weeks.
We got some of BT when we got in, he was dropping some nice tunes, I enjoyed his hair too , what an original hairstyle!! James H. definitely made me forget all bad, and put me in a state I have wanted to be in a long time.
He played soo many damn good tracks old and new that I would not imagine hearing, his start was amazing....I think it was'Nothing' that set me off for a good nighter....ANyways, I thought that everything else just came in to place that he played.....
I didn't enjoy Ferry too much, wasn t my highlight....

The whole night was OK, the ppl I saw there made it enjoyable, some TA's I met, thanks Liam to introducing me, sorry I didn t stick around longer, I met Hordano, nice to meet ya, and Eric and Ben, a girl whose name I could not hear, The whole Ibiza crowd, Bart, I saw Sean Desman's dancer( ya the pop idol) was dancing beside me for a while.... Anyhow, shoutout to those who are sober troopers???

Oh ya, Del, me and Aggie did not see ya!!!!! Were u there>??

Posted by Nalin on Mar-09-2003 22:31:

O M G

All I can say is that Holden was the best part of the night. 11/10 for his set.

Ferry's set was decent but a little dull for me. 7/10 for his set.

Posted by Resnick on Mar-09-2003 22:49:

this night was crazy!! my first time checking out guv and it was insane!

unfortunateley i was way too tired from before and i couldnt stay out until the end, as i was walking out ferry dropped solstice which really made me wanna stay but i could barely stand

holden was also impressive as i wasnt sure of how his set would turn out, can anyone id one of his tunes for me? it was one of the last songs, i think the third last or something and i cant really explaing it but as i remember the melody was like 3 repeating notes...if anyone knows what im talking about plz id..thx

oh and oliver played great as well

Posted by Mbius on Mar-09-2003 23:01:

The night started off pretty shitty, with the asshole personnel at Guv pissing me off, those fucks made me wait in line twice.

Anyways onto more important things: The Music!

BT was fucking awesome! I wasn't expecting such a high intensity set from him, too bad I was too pissed off to fully enjoy it. He wasn't using Final Scratch that's for sure because he never touched the turntables, so I guess he was using some sort of producing/sample/loop software pretty cool I guess, though you don't know how much of it was pre-programmed.

James Holden was really good, played some really nice stuff, and some really crazy shit too! Closing his set off with "fine day" was great, what a tune!

Ferry was great as always, solid mixing and solid track selection. He started off nice and hard, played a lot of new stuff and some of the expected tunes. I love his energy and how he interacts with the crowd, he's quite a character.
Highlights:

Solstice - with James Holden standing behind Ferry, Holding a copy of "Nothing" with TUNE written across it in black marker. Holden is a class act

Ferry holding up the "Ferry Is A God" sign with a big smile across his face, he seemed to be quite touched by it.

Ferry signing my T-Shirt that reads "Don't Stop The Music"
(Thanks to my gf and Swamper for hooking that up)
Too bad that nasty ceiling rain stained the shirt on the shoulder, fucking nasty!

Proceed = Madness!!

and the first track of his encore....Corduroy - Sweetest Dream
WHat a track!!! Can't wait to get a hold of that when it's released.

And I'm glad a lot of you finally enjoyed Ferry this time around

Shouts out to:
Tatgirl, a party isn't a party without you
Sober_24_7, I'll be ending my weekend while listening to your tape
Time2Burn, always a pleasure to party with you
Endlesswave, nice seeing you again
ElKayDee , good to see you again
Malice, nice meeting you, we'll trade some sets on the hub sometime
LiL_Kandi_Angel, the night is never complete without you
Hardcore_Trancer, party animal! hahaha

Swamper and Itikia, nice seeing you guys there, hope you both got some sleep and warmed up, Flyering right after Ferry in that fucking cold ass weather...crazy! but someone has to do it

and to all the other TA's you were there, but I didn't get a chance to meet.

EDIT
almost forgot to send a shout to Deko-ze, its always fun to party with you. HOpe you managed to get over the annoying little things and managed to enjoy yourself.
St.Pete, saw you at outside but never saw you inside haha, hope you had fun
