his superior mixing and tunes that no one else has, or will have...certainly define mediocrity.

when I saw him, he double beated for over 90 minutes, and bored the living shit out of me
as for tunes noone else has? he can keep his bloody rework of Madonna - what it feels like for a girl, it's shit (wouldn't mind born slippy tho )
just because someone doesn't want PvD, doesn't mean they want jules or gielen
more to life than vandit

we all have off days, PvD is undisputedly the best mixer out of the big trance dj's. u always go on about that rework, fuck me what a sin to have made a poor rework.

more to life than vandit, no shit, it ain't even my fave label, but i'd be interested to see whos a* if pvd's d-.

pvd is quite deifnitely a C not D or A. As for A grqade djs, i wouldn't like to comment, i'm yet to find a dj which i consistently enjoy time after time, except maybe Picotto, but that's different.

why is that different?

btw im not gonna start on picotto, u like him, thats up to you.

mentioning that grotesque piece of shit 3 times hardly constitutes going on about it, it's not the only shit rework he's done, there's a fair few......
I wouldn't say PvD's D-, hitting high C's maybe
as for the DJ's I'd categorise in the A* frame at the moment ( on current form)

John '00' Fleming
Marc West
Jon O'Bir
Matt Hardwick
Dean P (resident at Frisky in Northampton)
Giotto
Gabriel and Dresden

becasue i know he's technically a shit dj. but frankly i couldn't give shit, i like it and enjoy it every single time i hear him play, which is nowhere near enough.

not seem west, o bir or dean p.

joof isnt great, good tho. admittedly not seen him for months

Giotto has impressed me lots, but he's been playing in the UK for about 6 months? Hardly long enough to be able to compare them.

Matt... i love him...but he's like an old shoe, he's no PvD. 5 (4 and a bit) hour set was a bit disappointing.

have u even seen G & D?

i think most of the dj's u mentioned are good, but i wudnt compare any to PvD, asides from Matt and JooF, they were unheard of when he had already hit his peak.

It seems the in thing to do in TA to slate PvD, for gods sake i don't give a shiny shite if people don't like him, but when people lay into him with such bullshit reasons its pathetic.

so because i think PvD is technically a good dj, that means its different for u to slag him?

Btw im sick of hearing these fucking rumours about crasher shutting down every time they change something. Why would they want to close a buisness down? that would just be pointless.

Edit: Now Ben has gone things will get better there. I cant understand why your all wishing him off that guy seems to have fucked the place up enough. What good he seems to have done:

Made crasher monthly, after B&W night it started to go shit. The monthlys before that was mint. Why oh why did they have to change it too monthly. I once read on the website that they did it becuase clubbers are more botherd about going to big events rather than small clubby ones. What aload of shite. Maybe there was a good enough reason to do with finances but still. Secondly he keeps putting on these fucking annoying and utter pointless theme nights that make the place look crap, everyone looks the same and i can not be arsed one bit messing about making outfits. Nye was a exception. Its only once a year i can understand that. But not every other month. I go clubbing to hear the music i love not to piss about for ages trying to make something that i know everyone else is gonna look the same as me.
Thirdly i get a letter from crasher promising me cheap entry on a Q jumpers guestlist. I try getting on it but it gets me no where. I phone up 3 times thru out the day. Hes not in so im told to email him. I emails him, & i get no reply still none to this date so i bought my ticket and saved myself the grief.
Whats more the line ups are nothing special. Only recently it seems like its picking up.

Sounds like hes fucked the place up enough now hes doing a runner and leaving it for someone else to pick up.

He might have done some wonderfull shit, so u can all argue and flame the fuck out of me as much as u like. But comming from my eyes and some of my friends this guy seems like a prick.

it ain't the business tho mate, its just crasher. the worry is that they won't bother with the hassle of getting sum1 new in when its much easier just to put S1 1DJ on every wknd, when it makes just as much/more cash as crasher.

Because Raine hates trance and S1 1DJ makes more.

Dom: you asked me why picotto was different i answered. Because i don't rate him technically means that he owuld achieve like an E on the so called dj scale. However he's still one of my favourite djs. hence different.

I only ever bullshit about pvd one 1 ground. and that's i find his sets dull and monotonous. I can't comment on his technical ability, because i jsut don't know, I never rate djs on their mixing (unless it's exceptionally bad ie Tiesto) or so 'dj skills' i rate them on whether i enjoy their sets. and pvds sets that i've seen have been dull. How people can call him a trance dj is beyond me, especially considering he himself doesn't call himself that.

I dont' think i'd like that set much tbh.like most pvds it has good bits and then bits that i don't really like much bringing down the tone of the whole set. + it's in Berlin ... i've said it before and i'll say it again his sets from elsewhere always seem better than the sets i see him play.

but the point is that its all blatently trance toby.

i edited out tracks that u might say werent trance but im sure u wud still like them i.e Analog System, Spacefrog etc

the point is that if it was any1 but PvD im sure u and others would say it was a good set, but the TA anti-pvd mechanism kicks in and it gets slated.

those are all amazing records IMO which wouldnt u enjoy?

9. Nu Nrg - 'Supasonic' (Vandit) I love supersonic but I always feel like pvd abuses nu nrg buy putting them in his sets.... dreamland never worked in any of the sets i've heard from him.... it doens't fit too badly on tpod.
10. Sommer Safari - 'MMDC' (Energie Berlin)
11. Oceanforce - 'Euphoric Dream' (White Label)
17. Revolution 9 - 'Love Is The Only Weapon' (Vandit) yuk
21. Insigma - 'Open Our Eye's (ATCR Records)
22. Club Attak - 'Solid Sleep (PVD Remix)' (Vandit) used to love it, now loathe it.
23. Sasha - 'Wavy Gravy' (BMG) not a big fan of this.

BOLD = tracks i wouldn't like or feel are out of place.

The fact that you have removed so many tracks that aren't trance proves my point; he's a Dj plays trance, not a trance dj.

ahem

well no disrespect toby, but those tunes fit perfectly, im sure most dj's here wud back me up on that.

and following ur logic.....

tiesto
armin
oakenfold
bond

....arent trance dj's either.

Altho PvD's more than just a trance DJ, he's best at it , but can play other things, its called versatility.

i can respect people not liking pvd. just coz i think he's number 1 i dont expect others to, but i really dont no how u can justify that. He plays uplifting trance to the max, and borders a few harder tracks.. ie. Reeloop, Marco, Spacefrog etc. Plus his own productions are trancey. He does consider himself a trance DJ so i dont no where u read that he doesnt

Go and make a "I hate PVD thread" and battle your wits in there! Yet another post that is ruined by the controversy that PVD causes with alot of people!
