i received a return email from made. it says:
let's see if they really have a seperate line for ticket holders...

Paul van Dyk is one of the biggest artists in the industry. If you buy
a
ticket to see Madonna or someone on a equal level in their field, you
are
going to be paying around the same price. Paul has a large following
and we
have a limited capacity in our venue. We set the price so that we don't
over
sell tickets while maintaining the high standards in which you are used
to
seeing your favorirte artists. We ensure that there will be a separate
entrance for ticket holders so you won't have to wait in line and will
enter
the club in a more timely fashion. We are offering $40 tickets if you
click
here,
http://www.ticketweb.com/user/?regi...404018&REFERRAL
and enter MADENYC where it asks for the promotional code, you will be
able
to purchase the discounted tickets. For a limited time only. I hope
that
this helps to answer some of your questions and we hope e to see you on
the
18th!

that's SUCh a shitty analogy--- people don't go to see madonna every 2-3 months FFS! but at least all the ticketholders are guaranteed entrance and a seat at Her concerts.

that email didn't assuage my anger in the slightest. give us a fucking break, made. will it be 60 next time? god i am so mad.

well it angers me a little bit for 2 reasons

1- it probally is all lies i just know ticketholders will wait on line like the others that do not have tickets.

2- the email was so unprofessional... ii was appalled that some things were misspelt spacing was like that..etc...

Confused

People people people. Okay so tix are $50 I don't really think it makes a difference. I mean considering the things you buy inside the club like water, drinks, etc. You're still spending more than $50 when you add everything up. And its only $10 more that the $40 that we're used to shelling out for PVD. So $50 is a lot but all in all it doesn't really make much of a difference.

And anywayz I want you all to be there to celebrate my b-day!!! It won't be the same without all you TA's!!

i got a response from made events too. it said pretty much the same thing that basically, they set the price to prevent some people from going.

very good point.. my fav band, depeche mode's last n. american tour was summer 2001 for exciter and im still kicking my ass for missing it.. and i wouldnt mind paying up to $100 to go to a DM concert since its not so often that i get a chance to hear them, but pvd performs @ a club, and its a club event, not a massive production... and i think $40 to go clubbing is just ridiculous

Wow, that's such a sad excuse for pricing. They can control "overselling" by simply printing a set amount of tickets to be sold at a particular price while the rest will just have to wait and buy at the door. The way the email sounded was something along the lines of: "If we jack the price up, not enough people will be able to afford it and therefore, not that many people will show up." That's some horrible business practice.
In most cases, the extra incentives for purchasing advance tickets are to guarantee admission and perhaps save a few bucks just for committing so early. So what they should be doing is to lower prices for those that commit early instead of using prices to deter people away, especially in the tough current economic situation.

And for that person who said the increase isn't that much of a difference, that's not true at all. That would mean Made should charge like $65 or something since it's the same amount of $ people would spend when everything is added up after a $40 admission. Of course those who really can't afford any extras will have to dehydrate, dance with their coats on, and the club itself would make a lot less.

I still agree with NY1004...It really isn't that big of a price change...I don't why you would even say that they should charge 65 - It's only 5 bucks more then last time if you buy them now...Just think about back in Feb at Roxy...The amount of fun I had that night was definatly worth just 5 more dollars, that's me though - If you feel otherwise then you have a right to be upset. I mean it adds up on there end, and there gonna be making more $$, but 5 more bucks isn't gonna stop me from going to see Paul

Is Paul playing a 6 hour set though? I mean if he's playing for less amout of time and it's more money for less PvD, then there's a reason to be upset heh. But is 6 hours confirmed yet, does anyone know for sure?

Hey Liz! It's going to be your birthday? Sweet! I'll be there to help you celebrate

Guys, it's $45, not $40 which is an absolute rip-off. The price sucks, yes, but if you can afford it money comes and goes but the memories will stay with you forever.

good call, what's a few more bucks throughout the span of the rest of your life

Posted by PatMcGroin on Apr-04-2003 16:33:

thats fucking crazy. i paid $50 for pvd at space34 during wmc. now i wasn't happy about paying it, but overall it was a great weekend and i really would have regretted not going. but now i'm REALLY poor, and quite frankly, i'm not paying $50 again to see pvd.

in europe i paid 15 euros and 20 euros. why are the promoters here so gay? i know its just business, but damn it. that really upsets me, because there really is NO need to be charging that much. they just do it because they can.

just got this:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM PAUL VAN DYK AND MADE

Due to strict capacity limitations and increased security for the April 18 show, event costs had to be recalculated, which resulted in a higher advertised ticket price. Paul was uncomfortable with the higher price, so in a joint effort with Made, the price was lowered to $40. To make it easier, you no longer need the promo code. Simply log on to www.ticketweb.com to take advantage of this special offer or click here

Advance tickets are also available at:

Satellite Records 259 Bowery between Prince and Houston 212-995-1744

Rebel Rebel, 319 Bleecker Street, NYC tlf. 212 989 0770

Throb, 47 Orchard Street, NYC tlf. 212 925 6069

----------------------------------------------------------------------

i get all of these fun announcements.

interesting eh?

Posted by Choobak on Apr-11-2003 19:45:

i don't know.. that sounds like bs to me.. their excuse, not the actual news...

sounds like they weren't selling enough tickets to me....

then again i'm biased because i just don't like made after the way they handled the last show...

Posted by NY1004 on Apr-11-2003 19:51:

Hmm but Satellite it selling for $46

Posted by Scottaculous on Apr-11-2003 20:01:
