Great peril. It is terribly perilous, that idea.

I never said green you faggot... jesus...

Alternative does not equal fucking green. Nuclear is alternative and those pussy fucks in the green movement wouldn't ever support that shit. Fossil fuels are horribly inefficient, where as things like nuclear and investment into practical fusion are practical, current or near technology, and sustainable. If we focused on developing a large nuclear power network and increased other alternative sources that are realistic, like more hydropower (still call my green Kevin, fuck rivers, I think reservoirs are pretty) we'd be much better off.

The Pacific Northwest gets almost all of its power from hydro and nuclear. We have ONE coal fired power plant, owned by Canadians, and it sells its power to the east.

Basically I don't give a fuck either if the economy here collapses. If it does that is a good thing, the way it is now is totally fucked. If it collapses we can try something new. Yea it will suck, probably lots of people will die or live substandard lives, but it will be better in the end (and by the end I mean far beyond anyone who is living on these forums now).

Think of the long term Kevin, don't be so selfish.

Essentially I want to see a country that consolidates and adapts to not being able to drive 40 miles to go to Walmart. I want to see efficient electrified commuter rail networks and the reestablishment of local businesses and dense population centers centered around business and industry, where services are all within walking distance, or at most a single bus or train ride.

What we have now is pretty much the worst possible infrastructure system in the modern world, and our dependence on cheap gasoline is a big part of why that is.

sorry nou, i have to side with kevin here.

Market is about supply and demand, the idea that you think oil prices will never come down is perposterous. The market will eventually dictate when it is time to come off oil, that will be when it is too expensive and unafordable to anyone and this will lead to alternative energy.

keep in mind that oil went back down to 30$ per bbl when the recession hit, from 140 $ per bbl.

Opec doesn't want high oil prices because it significantly reduces demand. Take a look at Cushing storage, its at all time capacity. What does that tell you about North american demand?

The issue right now with oil is that there is supply shortage for brent crude in the north sea due to libya and mideast conflict. Albeit i beleive the speculators are in control of the brent game, but you can see that the issue is due to libya from teh 14 $ premium they have on their crude (which shoudl usually trade at par with ours).

Anyways long term is that when oil becomes unfordable, thats when alternative energy will boom. Either that happens, or we run another recession and oil becomes very cheap again lol.

Fundamentally speaking, oil should be priced now at around 90$ per bbl in north america. Still have tons of storage and tons of reserves left in the world.

Fucking oil. I hate this country so fucking much. So much fucking fail. Same with Canada.

People are too stupid here to realize what the rest of the world has.
