I don't know really. I've always thought about it. Is Manny a Red Sock? No... he's a person. And a member of the Red Sox. So I've always just said "He's a Red Sox." Heh...

I don't know. Haha... it's weird. I only do it with the Red Sox and White Sox. Mike Lowell is a Marlin. Derek Jeter is a Yankee. Mike Piazza is a Met. J.D. Drew is a Dodger. But Frank Thomas is a White Sox.

With 3 more plate appearance, Juiceambi will qualify and lead the American League in On Base %.

I thought J.D. Drew and Thomas were on the medical team?

We all know who their ace is right? ........

Begins with a Douche Bag and ends with a Kevin Brown

Have to mention Juiceambi with 2 homers tonight and 4 in the last 2 days. I'm shellshocked!! Dude got some nice undetectable growth hormones.

As long as it helps in this way....

What if Mickey Mantle took more care of himself? So many... I just accept the players for who they are and what they do and try not to think about what if things were different.

what are you talking about? pedro KNEW how to pitch when he was throwing 99, have you even seen his career stats? pedro martinez had his best years with the expoes and the red sox before all his injuries...the reason he has to change speeds is because he CAN'T throw 99 mph anymore...he can barely throw 94 mph

as for manny ramirez...he has a career .600 slugging percentage with multiple 130+ rbi season with the indians...how much better do think he could've done? by the time he retires he's a first ballot hall of famer

At least he covers alot of ground in centerfield!

Hah? Have I ever seen his career stats...

And... NO, Pedro didn't know how to pitch. He's said it in interviews. He's said that he used to just blow it by people. And now that he hits 87-90 on a regular basis, he has to change speeds MUCH more often and pitch selections. This year, with his 89 MPH fastball, his stats are rivaling his 2000 year, the best year by a pitcher EVER. If in 2000, he changed speeds and the like like he does now, his stats probably would have been video game stats.

And yeah, Manny is one of the best RH hitters of all time. But he doesn't study pitchers. He doesn't even pay attention in the batters box. Ask him "Who's pitching against you today?" and he replies "I don't know." Perhaps if he studied pitchers, he would be better than Babe Ruth. Who knows?

Really, he's only WAY off on his power numbers. He's slugging .431 while his career avg is .485. He was hurt for a while, so I'm sure that has somehting to do with it. I also think part of the pressure of being "THE" guy has something to do with it. Looks at Alex Rodriguez last year. Way off from his career numbers. This year... he's back to being the best player in baseball.

Beltran is starting to turn it up now. He had a terrible July where he batted: .198/.268/.376
So far in July: .308/.343/.477

So yeah... he'll be fine.

Posted by Shamez214 on Jul-22-2005 16:35:

Have any non-Mets fans realized how great our OF defense has been? Cameron has been ridiculous in RF. Beltran has been Beltran. And Floyd. Wow... talk about a ressurgence. Besides his bat... he has been phenomenal in LF. That doesn't get any mention in the press because they're too busy talking about the usual overrated OFs.

Posted by Member of X on Jul-22-2005 16:38:

Without question Beltran is the biggest BUST in Fantasy Baseball this year. In our league, A Rod was traded for Beltran and some scrap guy I can't remember right when the season started. Beltran I think was the 4th pick. Dude has 4, I said 4, steals.

I know his injury had something to do with that but still....

I do think he's adjusting to NYC and will have a much bigger year next year to help the Mets finish 2nd to last instead.

3rd place now.

Movin' on uppppppp!

And the Nationals are finished. Weeeee! They'll be last or next to last. Phillies should finish last. So... at worst, the Meters finish 3rd this year. Not bad at all.

Agreed except for the Johnson stuff....I think he is not worth all the $$$ we spent on him....I think we could have gotten a couple younger guys that can grow with the Yankees instead of a big name that I haven't seen do anything special on the mound

WANG hopefully will be part of the Yankees future and help rebuild the team along with Cano IMO

yeah, i'll just give the B.U. benefit of the doubt for getting used to factor.. i think he'll be much more effective next season. Cano looking good and Giambi seems like hes hittin that needle again, but its not the batters that concern me, its the pitching...

Because... they stink and went from being the most underrated team in the NL to being the most overrated team in the NL from a simple name change and a few terrible FA signings?
