Angels will advance and beat the White Sox.

I was kind of surprise to see the Red sox get swept. i wouldve expected at least 4 games in the series....

Posted by Magnetonium on Oct-09-2005 02:54:

It seems like Astros have this series again. Braves bullpen gives up about 4 runs a game lately - at this pace they wont even beat the lowly Devil Rays. Its over ... I am a bit ashamed for my team. How could they not resolve this bullpen problem before the start of playoffs??? During the last week of the regular seasons bullpen was horrible. Sigh ... another disappointing season for my Braves.

I still believe, I just cant believe the bullpen has been so horrible.

Anyhow, yesterday Astros took a 2-1 series lead over Braves, and Cardinals swept Padres in 3. Dj Smitty20, Eddie N MIAMI, Magnetonium, Member of X, Protege get an extra point for picking the series sweep correctly.

1. dj2kTA - 20 pts (10-2) +4 pts; yesterday: 2-0 record
1. verndogs - 20 pts (10-2) +4 pts; yesterday: 2-0 record

3. Protege - 19 pts (9-3) +3 pts; yesterday: 1-1 record.
4. Eddie N MIAMI - 17 pts (8-4) +3 pts; yesterday: 1-1 record

5. Magnetonium - 13 pts (6-6) +5 pts; yesterday: 2-0 record.
5. Member of X - 13 pts (6-6) +5 pts; yesterday: 2-0 record.
7. Acid Circus - 12 pts (6-6) +2 pts; yesterday: 1-1 record.
7. Mebot - 12 pts (6-6) +2 pts; yesterday: 1-1 record
7. SlackerBoy9 - 12 pts (6-6) +2 pts; yesterday: 1-1 record.
10. Dj Smitty20 - 11 pts (5-7) +3 pts; yesterday: 1-1 record.
11. Shamez214 - 6 pts (3-9) +0 pts; yesterday: 0-2 record.

Looks like your bullpen have another chance to see if they can hold this lead. LaRoche grand slam!

Haha! Farnsworth just gave up a GRAND SLAM in the 8th to make it only a 6-5 Braves lead! Yet ANOTHER 4-run bullpen misfortunes. We'll see if Braves can hold on. I am trying to be optimistic, cause Hudson's short rest 7 inning outing may result in him not being very effective in next series.

We'll see, we'll see ...

Posted by Magnetonium on Oct-09-2005 20:11:

Breaking News! Farnsworth gives up a HOME RUN with 2 OUTS in the 9th inning to TIE THE GAME and send it to extras!!!

Also, I got to note that Farnsworth has been THE ONLY reliable pitcher in Braves bullpen ALL SEASON LONG. So the game should be over soon

Posted by Acid Circus on Oct-09-2005 20:33:

Come on Braves, don't fancy facing the Astros yet again in the NLCS.

so Cox decides to go with a starter, John Thomson, and he's been holding it down pretty well so far

18th inning... still going...
any bets on how many innings this will take to be done?
perhaps after the Yanks and Angels start?

Well. Game just ended. i wasnt surprised with the result. I'll hold the rest of my comments, but I am getting sick of Braves' misfortunes ... I dont think that there will be next year to amend this loss, yet another in a row of a several consecutive series losses. To no surprise, thats why I didnt pick them to win this series in this baseball playoff pool. Too bad I am not getting that extra point.

Posted by partyhopper on Oct-09-2005 23:03:

ball game over, at last!
Chris Burke walk-off homer in the 18th!
Longest postseason game ever.

Astros move on to an NLCS rematch against the Cards

Posted by Shamez214 on Oct-09-2005 23:08:

Well, I hate the Astros less than I hate the Cardinals. So... go Astros!

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Oct-10-2005 01:04:

all Im gonna say is wow 18 innings

Posted by daydreamer on Oct-10-2005 01:09:

we won?
shit that's news to me.
don't keep up with baseball. unless we are in that finals thingy....

btw. fecking Guatemala lost to Mexico yesterday. FECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5 to 2.
carry on.

Yankees win, Yankees win!! Clutch performance when it counted most...still not impressed with the overall hitting (where are the homers!) but I still believe.

Mussina needs to pitch a gem tomorrow and the sluggers need to come up big.

Posted by Shamez214 on Oct-10-2005 03:31:

I sensing total suckiness from both Mussina and Colon. But the Angels have Washburn to fall back on.

he has strep throat...I doubt he'll pitch.

Just like everyone doubted Kirk Gibson was going to play. If he needs to pitch, he'll pitch.

Alright ... so Yankees managed to tie their series with Angels at 2 games apiece, and Astros had an elimination victory. The standings after Sunday, October 9 are as follows:

1. dj2kTA - 22 pts (11-3) +2 pts; today: 1-1 record
1. verndogs - 22 pts (11-3) +2 pts; today: 1-1 record

3. Protege - 19 pts (9-5) +0 pts; today: 0-2 record.
3(+1). Eddie N MIAMI - 19 pts (9-5) +2 pts; today: 1-1 record

5. Magnetonium - 17 pts (8-6) +4 pts; today: 2-0 record.
5. Member of X - 17 pts (8-6) +4 pts; today: 2-0 record.
7(+3). Dj Smitty20 - 13 pts (6-8) +2 pts; today: 1-1 record.
8. Acid Circus - 12 pts (6-8) +0 pts; today: 0-2 record.
8. Mebot - 12 pts (6-8) +0 pts; today: 0-2 record
8. SlackerBoy9 - 12 pts (6-8) +0 pts; today: 0-2 record.
11. Shamez214 - 6 pts (3-11) +0 pts; today: 0-2 record.
------------------
Notes:
Noone has picked Astros in 4 (in fact, everyone who picked them to win, selected in 5 games) - noone receives the extra point!

Protege fails to collect a gameday point for the first time on this pool.

DJ Smitty20 and Eddie N MIAMI are only participants to slightly move up in standings today.

After Braves' early exit, Shamez214 is eliminated from winning this pool - tough luck! He will still collect points, however, if any are applicable

Ha! Awesome! Oh well... There's always next year when I'm able to pick the Mets to go all the way.

Hehe

Remember when I said earlier that you either were going to win big or lose big? Well, next year just make sure you flip the right side of the coin on this matter

So far there are no clear-cut favourites to win this pool - I still need to know if Yankees will win tomorrow to calculate that!

Can anyone tell me at what time NLCS Game 1 starts coming wednesday?

I'm guessing 8 pm ET, but I also read 1 pm somewhere...

Posted by Acid Circus on Oct-10-2005 13:59:

I can feel my comments about the Astros made on the first few pages of this thread coming back to haunt me!

I took this pic outside Yankee Stadium on Friday
