what do you guys reccomend to prop up the mixer so its at an angle? i havent really found anything suitable...

The only beef I have w/ it is the center point drop off on the xfader. I'm getting to where I hardly ever use it, opting to use the faders on the channel strips instead. If you'll notice, the xfader in the pic is dead center. I'm not familiar with it enough to talk about the EQ and such, as I'm just getting started, both with this mixer and Dj'ing in general. I use a piece of that white foam packing material, a wee bit wider than the mixer, about 1 1/2" thick and as tall as you need it. Carve out a couple of holes the same diameter as the rubber feet on the bottom of the mixer. That way it won't slip out from under the mixer. BTW, don't try to use styrofoam. The static electricity will attract bits and pieces of it all over your records. You'll be picking that stuff off for days.

I also have the SMX-401 and am very pleased with it. The eq's are extremely good (full cut) and the sound quality in general is excellent for the price. If this is your price range, and you mix trance/house, I would definitely reccommend it, there's nothing else in the price range that is suitable. Everything else is directed towards turntablism.

I found a piece of 2"x2"x the width of my cd player, sprayed it with spray adhesive, and covered it with speaker carpet so it'll match with my equipment deck. It's all black and also soft so it won't scratch anything

well..I still can't figure out how to load up digi pics of my set up. but until then...here is my equipment list.

I got a new CDJ since the last time I posted...and rather than just saying I got a new CDJ, I'm actually going to post a picture! Unlike about 90% of the posts in this thread

totally sweet setup!

not enough vinyls, but considering it's only been a year you have a lot! And now with that CDJ you can also play your mp3s, so all is great.

hehe thanks -- I've also been damn near broke for about the last month, paying for school and all; so I haven't been able to get much more vinyl. Although I got paid on Friday, so I'm catching up now Lots of great releases in the past month...soon to be in my hands

Nah, there's a lil crate I put them in. If you see one or two on the floor, it's just the cardboard sleeves. They're my dads records, as mine haven't gotten here yet... (shipping). So all I can do until my records come is play some Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Trumpet and orchestra music, and the one white label DNB vinyl I have. Still having fun just scratching and shit, cause there's not much to be done till I get real music
