hehehe maybe that's my problem...i always go cold turkey and then hate it, but live with it hahaha...

i guess my slurge then was getting drunk last friday...can't be having anymore of that for a while..

Posted by Floorfiller on Sep-10-2004 01:54:

well shit Ygrene...i kinda got fucked up the last two days with that girl popping in on me and all...i gotta get back to it now though...don't wanna be an ass...

Posted by Ygrene on Sep-10-2004 03:22:

Those firetruckin' women'll do it to every time!

/me is promptly slapped by gf looking over shoulder

But seriously, here are my last two days in a nutshell:

Wed AM

30 min cardio

Wed PM

3 hours basketball (holy shipwreck was I beatdown afterwards)

Today AM

30 min cardio

Today PM

Delts/Traps

Here's another secret I'll let you in on to keep you motivated to hit the gym: Cool New Shoes! I always have good workouts when I'm rocking a new pair of kicks at the gym. It's just like how your car is faster after you wash it and shine the tires.

Posted by Omegasox on Sep-10-2004 03:46:

You know what's weird - the last 3 weeks of the summer I completely blew off the gym and probably put on a good 10 pounds before going back to college. Since being back, I've been doing 45 min - 1 hour of cardio 6 days a week and lifting 3 days a week. Maybe it's the 20,000 women on campus that give me an extraordinary amount of motivation. Whatever it is, I can't wait to do cardio every day, which has NEVER happened before, lol.

There seems to be a lot of discussion in this thread about people losing weight for the ability to show their muscle, or people gaining wait for the ability to build up muscle etc, but havent seen any info on people that are naturally thin with fast metabolism and how its possible to build up muscle if at all? Any info and advice about this? Cheers.

Posted by torontotrance on Sep-11-2004 20:44:

Everyone that I've known like that, has always had some problem with building up muscle, dunno why. One of them decided that he was not going to get big treetrunk arms and focused on running and he got a 4 yr scholarship to the states.

To me, muscles don't mean everything, I lift weights but I don't plan to try to end up like orbax. I look good on my own terms and I'm happy with that.

It's really no different than the advice presented in this thread. I've been thin my entire life and only recently has my metabolism finally slowed down. If you have some experience lifting already, lift heavy with low reps and high intensity. Just stick to the basics; bench, squat, deadlift. There's no hidden secret.

Oh, and eat, eat, eat.

Just curious...what do you do for cardio that long?

Im just now slowly getting back to working out after a year of being a lazy slob, and gaining 40 pounds. (part of it was also having back surgery in March)

I dont want to run, due to the impact it puts on my back...might try swimming, but im not a very good swimmer. Currently im doing cardio on excercise bike, then once i get that up some ill start on the weights (slowly).

I ride 15-20 miles. Running has always been too hard on my knees, and my father is obsessed with cycling so it just rubbed off.

Yeh I agree with that, but some extra 'meat' is all thats needed for that toned look, nothing like orbax though, hehe

update...so i moved away to bellingham and didnt work out for 4 months, i just sat around and drank and ate pizza...lots of times just living off coffee and crusts...

ive been home for 2 weeks now and hittin the gym solid.

I feel great and im excited for the next 6 months. My chronic shoulder problem from the last 2 years seems to have faded with the inactivity and im doing much more controlled careful lifting now.

I had a talk with a body builder friend and he told me to eat fatty fatty foods. So i make monster burgers and then eat 2 twice a day. Been eatin lots of oats and making huge batches of pasta that have a couple pounds of beef in the sauce..

like i said 2 weeks but i feel bigger than i used to...dunno what it is...

anywho heres the update

i know ive gotten lazy with the photography...webcams are so much easier though! uhm...my legs arent worth updating haha, but ill take a look in a sec. Mountain climbing for me is the new thing and hopefully thatll pay off in the calves area.

edit hers new routine as i slowly get back into it

Incline Fly: 1x12 with 30 then 3x10 with 40s

seated rows: 1x12 with 115 then 3x10 with 135

flat bench: can usally only do 3x6 with 60s then do 50s till failure...worn out from flies

lat pull downs: same as seated rows

then i finish up by blasting my biceps with 20lb dumbells. 3 set of till failure

XX

next workout:

Seated dumb bell military press: 40s 3x10
tricept rope pulldowns: 1x12 70 2x10 80 1x6-8 90
bent over reverse dumb bell flies: 1x12 15s 2x10 20 1x8 25
good morning machine: 3x15 135

thats about it 40 mins 3x a week...

hiking on off days

Orbax, I'm about to start a phsycial personal challenge.

You should get skin fold tested so we can compete.

You'll probably kicki my ass but I like a competition.

All right you are on!

Posted by Sunsnail on Dec-17-2004 03:03:

I hate cardio work outs. Doesn't make me feel good afterwards

Posted by Orbax on Dec-17-2004 03:42:

Youre probably doing something wrong then cardio should make your body pump endorphins (endo morphine (inner morphine)) runners high, bikers high, its all the same. You need to make sure you dont eat within an hour of it before and wait 15 min after. Do it for more than 20 min and start off kind of easy, but you should still be totally out of breath at the end. Gotta force that body to adapt and make the glycogen levels rise, and get your hemoglobin to output more

Posted by Dmatrox on Dec-17-2004 03:54:

i feel bored doing cardio workouts. its a good thing there are TVs at cardio stations

Posted by Sunsnail on Dec-17-2004 03:54:

Well thats the thing. Sometimes my lungs burn when I breathe because I worked out too much.

Posted by Floorfiller on Dec-17-2004 03:54:

try having something before you do cardio. i have always had a similar problem when i work too hard in cardio i'll need to throw up. but i've found that if i drink some orange juice or something before i go do cardio...i don't feel nausicous anymore...

ps. glad to see this thread revitalized!!!

Diego...i know you're thinking i fucked off our thing where we post our daily stuff....but i've been keeping a bunch of stuff in a spread sheet...

i might also wanna get in on this skin fold testing business ...it's good to have extra motivation

oh and orbax...your pecs looks bigger..

here is also a pic of me i took a week or so ago...i know you can't really see much (that was planned hahaha...plus its a pretty shitty camera), but everyone was always seemed curious and well...until i'm tanner and buffer...this'll have to do haha

Posted by Shemeck on Dec-17-2004 04:01:

i just want to say that i gained 16pounds in like 7weeks without taking anything, and i always had a problem with gaining weight.
the only thing i've changed is less reps more weight, and i eat more subs
