the problem is i have a semi-torn rotator cuff so I try to take it easy on it hehe. I still cant do a lot of exercises due to pain.

Youre right though...should definitely do more triceps. I think im gonna just start ending my arms days with a bicep high rep set blowout to get them into tight little balls.

and uhhmmm lemme try to take pics of shoulder things.

its all elliptical and shit

Posted by Floorfiller on Mar-24-2005 04:57:

hehehe...alright so here is how today ended up...plus some funny stuff about the gym...

Squat: 115 x 12 , 135 x 10 , 135 x 8 , 135 x 5

Leg Extension: 70 x 10 , 70 x 10 , 50 x 12 , 50 x 12

Leg Press: 180 x 8 , 180 x 8 , 180 x 7 , 180 x 7

Leg Curl: 50 x 12 , 50 x 12 , 70 x 12 , 70 x 10

Front Squat: 65 x 8 , 85 x 8 , 85 x 6

Hack Squat:

Seated Calf Raise:

so yeah i bitched out after front squats. this was the first leg work out i've done with my new little system so i was doing a lot of figuring out the weights...plus ****** was exhausted

anyway, for some funny stuff hahaha. so i get there and i'm starting to do some squats and shit. and these people a little ways down from me...they're all talking. its basically a couple of adults and a kid or two hahaha. and the adults are telling this kid bla bla bla...do this to get muscle bla bla bla...i'm my day i was so buff bla bla. so i look over to hear where this bountiful knowledge is coming from and i shit you not...it was this dude that was probably like 5'6" and had a 60" gut. hahahaha...sorry just couldn't get over the fact that this guy was giving anyone advice .

i also saw another similar funniness with a fat parent trying to tell her fat kids what to do. the whole time i'm thinking "yeah kids...listen to mother, because she OBVIOUSLY knows what she's doing" hahahah

but this is my favorite...

so i'm over on leg press and i'm doing my little 180 hehe. i'm already pretty fucking tired in the middle of my workout, but i'm seriously taking like 3 seconds on the negative ALL the way down and then an explosion movement up. well, as you can see i'm getting around 8ish reps everytime, but i'm fucking tired right.

so i move on when i'm done and i see this dude come over that was kinda watching me do them. he's probably like a highschool kid...he's got some big arms as they all do, and he starts putting on all this weight hahaha. so i see him from a distance, and he's got like 450 on there, which really, anyone who's done leg press before knows that isn't that much...i mean shit...i can rep out 600 and i've seen dudes do like 1500 on that shit before. but anyway, so this guy is gonna show me up in his mind hehe. so i'm watching him and he does like 3...half way down and puts the weight up hahaha. just made me laugh hahaha. it feels good to be doing shit the right way...

yes it would be smarter to do more work on your triceps then biceps.. but your arms seem to be getting good form.. maybe this will increase your growth efficiency.. try it out !

that shoulder thing looks pretty hectic!.. ill give it a go tomorrow.. as i want to try to alternate my shoulder routine.. i ve been doing the same excercises for a while now.

so my day went like this.. (very slow day btw)

warmup
--------

tredmill (1.5 kilometers) running / jogging

calves
---------

sitting down calv raises on machine

20 X 50lbs
20 X 50
20 X 50
15 X 60
15 X 50

leg press calve raise (keep legs fairly straight and move feet up and down)

20 X 90
20 X 90
20 X 140
20 X 140
20 X 90

Squats (first time doing FW squats, as i am used to leg press)

15 X 45
10 X 95
10 X 135
10 X 115
10 X 115

good workout overall.. i still have to master my form for squats though

speak for yourself show off .. 450 is tough .. i just got there a couple of days ago

haha

well thats some funny stories.. i have a similar leg press story

i was doing leg press.. and this guy.. he weighs about 30 pounds more then me.. (im a pretty lean and skinny guy).. he sees me doing 3 plates and decided to work in with me.. so im like ok.. so he goes and puts on 4 plates on each side.. hes going about 100 degree angle with his legs ( you should be at least 90 i would say) so he just looks at me after nodding his head.. like its easy shit. So i do 4 plates as well (since its part of my workout).. .. HE then does 5 .. so i do 5 (where i decide not to add any more weights)

so he does 6 plates.. to try to show me up.. and the machine collapses on him.. luckily there was a safety on it otherwise he would have been in some serious trouble and he looked pretty embarassed after that.. we had to get a guy on each side to bring hte machine back up lol.. so there goes to show people.. the gym isnt a place for showing off.. otherwise you ll end up looking like a noob

hahahaha...that's hilarious. yeah you gotta love those safety's hahaah. the new gym i've been going to does have a safety on the leg press...kinda pisses me off because hey...when you're exhausted...sometimes you can't get it back up hehehe. i think it just kinda lowers instensity when you don't have it because you gotta be worrying about it hehe.

but i think really it just comes back to what orbax said a while ago. you're not as strong as a pro body builder...play with weight that suits your muscle...

and the leg feels really nice and worked today...quad is destroyed hahaha. and once again...using the less weight, i feel like the muscle is what's worked and my tendons aren't all stiff today so i can actually walk...

i was at the gym on tuesday and someone fell off the treadmill. a couple people started to laugh until they realized that the person was really hurt. im not sure what was wrong with the person but an ambulance was pulling up as i was leaving the gym.

yeah regular squat was pissing me off last night. as you can see...by the end i was getting shitty reps, but it wasn't really because of the leg...it was because i felt so much stress on my lower back. i really hate that damn exercise hahaha. i think it might've been because i was doing it free standing though. i think next time i'm gonna use the smith machine so that'll take that stress off. i did those front squats on the smith machine and those were great...i seriously was all the way down on that shit.

welll you get pretty crammed in there.. i prersonally dont see it as an option to let it collapse.. cause then (unless you have a spot).. the only way to get it up again is to take the weights off lol

i remember my old gym.. the leg press didnt really have a safety.. and i decided to put 3 plates on (yes this was 1 month into my working out phase) and the machine fell on me.. so i quckly jumped out from the seat to avoid being smushed. it was quite dumb to do come to think of it .. putting 3 plates wihtout experience lol

Posted by jonze on Mar-24-2005 17:10:

do any of you people use gloves when you are lifting? i'm thinking of picking up a pair and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions.

well i'm not saying i like to get smushed under the machine...i'm just saying that you might feel a little more willing to do that last tough ass rep when you know if you can't get it back up you won't die hahaha

do you want them for any exercise in particular? because i might suggest something else like wrist straps for certain exercises...if you feel like your hands are getting real ripped up...

i want them so my hands dont get blisters and callouses (sp?). i havent had any form yet but i remember when i used to work out before i would get them sometimes. ive used wrist straps before but honestly the exercise that ive really needed them for was dead lifts but i dont do those anymore.

ahhhh...see i use wrist straps on a lot other exercises then deadlifts

they come in handy on any exercise were you think your grip is giving out before the muscle...

Posted by Nrg2Nfinit on Mar-24-2005 18:04:

i personally dont use them.. but my hands are filled with callouses.. wrist straps are definatlye a good idea for deadlifts.. or shrugs.. or even if you have trouble with lat chin ups

i like to use wrist straps on bent-over barbell rows too hehehe...

Posted by Orbax on Mar-24-2005 19:17:

im definitely getting wrist wraps. I need them for sooooo many exercises. Even sidebends at the end of a full day. Why dont you want callouses? You nobility or something? Men should be proud of calluses means you work!!

and as much as i have been trying to not be egotistical in gym I was still squatting too much. I was kind of planning on half squatting to get SOME muscle in there and then doing full squats to help growth. pretty much worked but im back down to starting with 115 and ending with 135 in stead of starting with 135 and ending up with 195 :|

felt better though...proper form blows hehe but I also got to admit I respect people who are doing it right soooo much. Maybe we CAN have a little ego in there after all

i just picked up a pair of "Women's Light Training Gloves" made by Nike. definitely awesome when i'm doing the free weights, otherwise the grippy metal on the bars tears my hands to shit. just make sure you try on a bunch at the store and test them out on the equipment because a lot of the ones i tried on were really awkward and uncomfortable feeling.

granted i'm a girl and i wanna keep my hands soft and pretty.

i used to lift with a pair of old gardening gloves my dad had hahaha...i was so cool haha

How about the wraps I use for boxing? You guys think I should use those when lifting weights?

well those things are helluva long i woudnt suggest it.. it would really get annoying unwinding and winding them all over again.. those wrist straps with the velcro could be good.. well i dont use wrist straps personally so maybe osmeone else should field this question.. i wouldnt recommend using long ass boxing wraps though
