If you say who you are with producing then you can talk...

Why is he a overated areshole, because he don't want to talk to you?

He isn't overusing tracks, he just combines the hits that people know and want to hear in club with new unknowns ones. And If you don't agree with the term unknown ones try to id some of the Id's from his '05 sets.

people bash tiesto cos people bash tiesto

tiesto people refer back to it as 'cool to bash tiesto' cos tiesto people don't have anything to say back to people who bash tiesto but to roll their eyes and say you're bashing tiesto.

Its all a load of crap just like all the fucking forum shit.

If you don't like a DJ's music... don't check out their latest mix.

If you don't like a DJ - don't open a topic about that DJ's latest mix.

IF you're a producer who wants to flame Tiesto... lets hear something you produced... and see if ur tunes are as big as your talking.

I agree with Mike... if you think his sets are boring.. I'd like to know why we have about 25 tunes that we haven't even heard of, or heard other DJ's spinning yet in his sets this year.
When you listen to anyone but Armin (for ASOT) its also the SAME tunes... for most b-list Djs its even as boring as only whats released on vinyl recently in their boxes.
That sucks so much ass i can't even bear to listen to those mixes...

Look at the boys from intuition... great guys... great sets.. and plenty of upfront tunes... now thats DJing.

Tijs is the same... except he is (for the most part) touring the world selling his sound to quite often NEW audiences. This is why 1 year on Adagio/Just Be etc are still part of his set. The crowd at 99% of his gigs are going to be expecting to hear those songs of his albums... those are called 'signature tunes'... :P just in case your a noob.

I'm one of his biggest fans and have been for a loooong time... i roll my eyes when there is a wreckage in his mixing technique... but i'm not about to start a thread in some ghey forum about it... cos he is STILL going to provide me with a great energy filled 3-4hours of across the board trance.

Why can't people like you get over the fact that someone like you actually made it big... just by being themselves. Give and take an amazing work ethic... you're right... Tijs isn't the worlds greatest mixer... you're right... he isn't gonna set the world alight with his latest productions... BUT he did it all from a good attitude and a concept to give the people.

Try and look at yourself a bit more... and try hard not to blame Tiesto for your own fucking depression! You met him and didn't rate him??? I met him, shook his hand on numerous occasions... hell 2 months ago i even was drinking champagne in his dressing room backstage in Glasgow... He wasn't an arrogant prick to me... we were actually enjoying having a chat and listening to the warm up guy play Ralphie B-Massive.

Why do you personally hate him so much? Didn't your tune get on ISOS4??? *boohoo*

And to be quite honest... your opinion here means jackshit... its just wiping your arse on a nice topic about his recent performance. Just go back to your hole in the ground and kindly shit somewhere else in future.

ps. could the techy ID be something new from Ferry's more punkier sound?

Posted by iammesol on Apr-24-2005 22:39:

glad you got that out chris

and i agree with all that you say

the techy id = ID #24

The ID later on is supposedly made by Igor S, but thats everyone's ear talking, not brain. I guess we'll see later on. By the way, noone look @ Radio 1's tracklist because they conveniently left these two IDs out.

Tisto holds his own in the trance music annals, no doubt. Recently his works have been uninspired and monotonous and no one can deny that. I mean, in this set alone he plays "Forever Today" twice (oooo, just because there's an electric violin it doesn't mean anything, same damn track) which was released on an album that had a bunch of old productions on it anyways...really.

But no one, and I mean noooo one can deny the sheer mastery of the ISOS releases (thus far) or the complete journey the Magik releases took you on. No one can honestly say that they didn't, at one point, fall completely in love with Nyana. Even if they claim to hate all of Tisto's work right now, they probably liked it at one point. In fact, it probably drew them either into trance, or, if they already were a fan of EDM, drew them even more into it.

I will never just completely give up and bash Tisto. Nor will I just give up and bash Oakenfold. I'm always expecting something out of them because I know that they have once captivated me and I hope that they can do the same again.

now... after all of... that... there...

ummm... this set was rather "meh" if you were to ask me. But, point is, he got the crowd into it. If he got rid of that fat, balding, annoying MC I would rate this higher. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest)... I would honestly have to rate this a 3 or 4. Something along those lines. Just kinda uninspired and I can smell that he just did this more for publicity.

well, there is never another group of producers and know-it-alls on stage next to tiesto tellig him what order to put the tracks in, much like those cds.

i still like teh tijs though.

Posted by TheNuttaReturns on Apr-25-2005 08:45:

Krysta_101 i agree with you on his previous works from years gone back being good, but u gotta remember back in those days most of his works was done with another guy, like ferry etc. his recent stuff has been purely his own shite from his own mind, which speaks volumes to me lol.

the forthcoming ISOS4 looks like an armin wannabe newest tunes selected cd, with tijs trying his best to out do the best dj in the world at the moment (and i think the last 3 years) armin.but then it always happens, maybe tijs will start not playing his own tracks over & over & over & over again in every mix he does CANT FUCKING SEE IT.

ANYWAYS IVE HAD ENUFF OF DISCUSSING HIM, NO POINT DISCUSSING THIS WITH PPL THAT WILL JUST FOLLOW THE "DEFEND TIESTO!" CROWD SO THEY DONT GET EXCLUDED FROM THE TA SOCIETY.

anyone for a cuppa t?

Without scrolling through all 66 pages, does anyone have a link to so i can listen to this set. I know Radio 1 has got a link, but comes in around track 8

jesus christ, the levels of maturity and intellect continue to plummet in this place...

everyone who hates and constantly slags off tiesto does so with the understanding that their favorite dj is clearly superior -- a position that's essentially untenable because of its subjectivity (i.e. my taste is better than yours so i'm right). absolutism isn't a substitute for intelligence people (and it certainly doesn't make you a lot of fun at parties).

i tend to avoid music discussion because i can't take the same threads with the same stupid flaming every fucking day (tiesto sucks, asot sucks, etc.) but it's gotten to the point where gimps are now coming into the tracklistings(!) forum, in a thread meant to identify tiesto tunes(!) to spew their bullshit.

there are plenty of djs i find substandard, but for some reason i don't feel the need to constantly interject my opinion in every fucking thread i see (in tracklistings no less).

and 2 points regarding this particular set:
-- the first "forever today" was merely used as background music for the introduction and the set really began with "language" (not that it matters, as it's fairly common for a tune to be repeated).

-- this set is chock-full of new tunes so i don't understand people who are complaining of redundancy. the only reason that a majority of this set was able to be id'd is because of about a half-dozen hardcore tiesto fans who spend an inordinate amount of time and effort keeping abreast of the very latest tunes to hit tijs' record box.

if it were anyone other than these 5 or 6 individuals who attempted to ID shit, every tiesto set from the past 2 months would be riddled with unidentified tunes. in essence, these people have done too good of a job id'ing and now every tosser chimes in with "i've heard all these tunes a million times" -- no you haven't.

*don't see the Oscar's cause one movie you hated is nominated!*

That was the dumbest damn entry yet here, If we don't listen to his set's then we won't know if he becomes worse or (if the sky turns red and frogs starts ruling the earth) he actually, becomes better.
DON'T post idiot post's like that again!!!

Posted by Col on Apr-25-2005 15:59:

Technically, the Tiesto bashing is sometimes justified - he does make mixing mistakes, sometimes he plays tracks at a strange tempo, or in a weird order.

But at the same time, it's really starting to get old, and no-one is contributing anything new as to "why he sucks". Everyone knows that if you're selective enough, you can find "proof" that anything sucks. Simply put, saying "if you don't like tiesto, don't listen to him" isn't going to work, because the anti-Tijs crowd feel ENCOURAGED to listen to his mixes, because they can deeply scrutinize his performance and drag out an argument with some of kind of foundation. Music is so unbelievably subjective that if Tiesto plays one track out of place, or makes one dubious transition, it can be used by some people as justification for him being a shit DJ.

So is it about being jealous? Is it about wanting to be a cool veteran of EDM? Nah, I think it's just become a boring routine for some people. They see Tiesto's name in the thread list, it excites them. They hear a bad transition in his mixing, it excites them. It's all about providing a purpose for existence: "Tiesto has done something wrong, so I can now legally (sic) say he's crap, and I will knowingly have the support of other users as well." It's just something to do. Everyone likes to be argumentative now and then, it's a way of venting frustration - and over a topic like Tiesto, it's become so banal, samey and uncontroversial that you can safely do so without significant backlash.

It won't cease until someone takes his place as #1. To all the fanboys though, just don't let it get to you. It's nothing new and biting, it's just a host of recycled, worn-out comments that we've all read before and carry no enlightenment.
