You win the "most intelligent quote of the week"

Interesting poll. Good to see that us music enthusiasts didn't put Tiesto at number one. Goes to show that people who really know there music know that Tiesto is a just a product of good management.

I prefer Ferry to Armin, and I think production does come into it now. Otherwise it's just silly. Ferry has made so many big records, whether you like his style or not.

Above & Beyond absolutely deserve to be in the top 5. Musically they contribute far more to the scene than Tiesto does with his dreadful rip-offs of Ferry Corsten remixes, and seem to be genuinely talented. I'm looking forward to their artist album later in the year.

I agree that Zabiela is cool, but he's not exactly accessible is he? So stop bashing G&D and A&B et all, and understand that these guys make music that simply appeals to more people. It would be great for dance music if these 2 acts edged in on the dutch dominated top 5.

tbh i could sit on my keyboard & the outcome would be more intelligent than many of the posts in this thread

Well the results are pretty good in my opinion. However I thought Wally Lopez would be somewhere in the top 100. Additionally, David Guetta was pretty underated....

Music that appeals to more people isn't always good though.

That's a fair comment, but even though DJ Sammy appealed to a lot of people he wouldn't get in the top 10. And thank god!

Britney and Westlife appeals to alot of ppl. Would you consider it as quality stuff which gives pop music a good name?

I can't say that he is so great DJ, a lot of people knows about him only because of "the world is mine" track and nothing more...

but unlike britney and westlife g&d produce themselves which just happens to be what the mass audience enjoy.

Posted by nettwerk on Oct-20-2005 22:56:

... so this means all the avb whores'll get their egos inflated 'till DJ Mag results come up?

Posted by Nox_ on Oct-20-2005 22:57:

I think it's great that Nik Harding made the top 100...we're going to hear a lot from him in the future I predict.

Britney actually writes some of her lyrics. does that qualify her as a decent popstar?

Make no mistake, I think Armin has a good chance for DJMag as well...although it could also be a PvD year

exactly, i don't know why everyone is an above & beyond hater, they've been my favorite artist group for a good 4 years now, and i've had the opportunity to see them dj twice. they compile a kick ass tracklist, nice mixing skills, they read the crowd down to a T and kept everyone in toronto begging for more last time. they deserve to be high up there!

Posted by Dj Ahter on Oct-20-2005 23:13:

Paul van Dyk must have been the first...
I dunno how people can vote both for Armin and Paul Van Dyk at the same time...

Anyway...

yeah, she wrote "the touch of my hand", such an incredible song

Posted by Floorfiller on Oct-20-2005 23:19:

i don't care how much above & beyond and their label contribute to the scene...this is about their ability as dj's and they are not better than some of the dj's they are above in that list.

Posted by Nitrogliserin on Oct-20-2005 23:45:

same names are always at top 5......

blah blah blah

Im glad Gabriel and Dresden got in the top 10. Such great artists and DJS!!!!! Maybe I should have put DJs on my original post but oh well.

I think this posts sums up quite nicely why and where the majority of the votes have come from. Can people not see that the productions of an artist should not reflect in anyway shape or form the way they are perceived as DJ's? What the hell are Nu-NRG, G&D, Above & Beyond, Andy Moor, etc. doing in a top 1000 list, let alone a top 100, or better yet, a top 10 in some cases? Grief.
